Why couldn’t demons eat animal blood instead of human blood?

Nezuko could’ve easily survived on animal blood and it would've made it easier then eating human blood

Fanfic idea im never gonna ues: Sanemi decided that in order to keep his brother save he married him off to a small family in the mountains to their eldest (Trans tanjiro) who he learns to love (tanjiro forces him to hang out with the family)

And when nezuko becomes a demon genya tells tanjiro that he will become a demon slayer in order to protect them and after final selection he gives tanjiro his sword so she can protect herself and nezuko.
