"The one over there in the dark grey suit is—" Seungcheol's voice trails off when he realises you're not paying any attention to his words and your gaze was fixed on a man standing at the other end of the room.

There's a certain loneliness in your eyes and Seungcheol catches the sad, barely there smile that appears on your face and how your eyes seem to light up when Jeonghan finally notices you. The first smile he's seen from you in a while and the most life he's ever seen in your eyes.

Seungcheol glances at you then at Jeonghan and for a moment it seems like the two of you had forgotten that you were in a room full of people with the way the both of you were just looking at each other.

He looks down at your hand that was holding onto his arm, your fingers trembling lightly, and he can't help but feel slightly sorry for himself.

For how he's the one you're legally married to, for reasons other than love on your end but for Seungcheol that was the sole reason he had agreed to the marriage when his parents proposed the idea to him a year ago. That was all the reason he needed.

For how he's the one you're holding on to right now but it's clear that your heart belongs to someone else, to the man in a white suit standing at the other end of the room.

He doesn't miss the way your grip on his arm tightens and your nails dig into his skin as you bring up a hand to quickly wipe the corner of your eyes when Jeonghan finally turns away from you, breaking the eye contact.

"You okay?" Seungcheol asks.

You clear your throat then simply mutter a soft, "yeah, I'm fine."

He looks at your face, his eyes soft and brows slightly furrowed with worry and he notices that your small smile from earlier was now completely gone and your eyes never left Jeonghan's back.

In that moment, Seungcheol accepts that you will never be his but he will always be yours.

You're sitting in the lobby of Jeonghan's apartment building, head snapping up at every sound you hear, hoping it would be Jeonghan that walks through the entrance.

The bags of takeout and snacks you've brought are placed on the table before you, getting colder by the minute.

Checking the watch on your wrist, you realise Jeonghan is probably working overtime because otherwise he'd usually be home by now and you contemplate giving him a call but decide against it knowing he's probably busy with his project.

The very same one he's been stressing over for the past couple of weeks.

That's why you're even here in the first place, you know how stressed he's been and you want to show him some support and give him some comfort by bringing him his favourite food.

And honestly, you just miss him so much and want to see him.

After nearly 3 hours of waiting, you hear the sound of familiar footsteps echoing through the lobby and you immediately look up from your phone to see a very exhausted Jeonghan plodding towards the elevators.

You shove your phone into your pocket and quickly pick up the bags to run after him, barely making it into the elevator he had just stepped into.

He steps into a corner and pinches the bridge of his nose as he shuts his eyes and lets a soft sigh escape him, still not registering that it was you who was in the lift with him.

You clear your throat as your gaze shifts onto his tired figure and his eyes widen when he notices that it was you.

"What are you doing here?"

You lift your arms to show him the bags, "I'm here on a food delivery duty."

Fondness takes over Jeonghan's worn out features as he watches you look down at one of the bags to say, "I don't know if they're still edible though, they've gotten all cold and soggy now. We can probably still heat the stew u-"

Your words are cut off when Jeonghan suddenly pulls you into him in a tight embrace, his arms fully encasing your body and he buries his face into your hair with a murmur of, "you must have waited for hours. Why didn't you call me? I would have came home right away."

You pull away to place a hand on his chest, "that's exactly why I didn't call you. I didn't want you to get distracted."

The elevator dings to signal you've reached your floor and you follow Jeonghan out to his unit, immediately heading towards the kitchen to reheat all the food for him.

"I hope they still taste good," you mutter to yourself as you're unpacking everything.

Jeonghan's body presses against your back as his arms wrap around your waist and his face settles into the crook of your neck. You let go of the container you were holding to run your hands up and down his forearm and you feel him relaxing.

"They will taste good because you bought them for me." He whispers before placing a gentle kiss on your skin.

"i guess i wasn't enough, was i?" you have finally speak out after a while. you could feel him shake his head since your eyes is glue down to staring your feet, fear of unabling to stop a tear if it is ever to spill.

"it was never if you were enough. it is more of if we were enough for this," he continues, "do you not have better things to do than to waste it on me, to waste it on us?" and the question sounds unreal 'cause you never expect anyone to say that to you, especially him.

"all i want to hear is that you love me back, that all of my feelings aren't put to waste, because i know wasting my time on you is the better things that i can ever do for myself. so please, just, just tell me lies and i'll believe you,"

worse than before, he isn't glancing at you anymore. he couldn't dare to, for he is the reason that has got you so vulnerable and fragile. yes, he had tried to reach out for the heart that is ready to love every inch of his being. all in vain when you were too far deep and he is too far out of reach.

he is sure that he hides his heart well, but his ears couldn't help but pick up the sound of it cracking. cracking because he doesn't feel that way, and he will continue to not feel anything that way for you.

he finally sucks out a shaky breath before muttering out the oh so sweet, addicting words that you beg for. "i love you too," he whispers to you, fully aware that his words has already got you dazing.

you were sure that this love have make you it's little bitch, chain up on each limbs, unable to grasp on him even if it meant you'll break every piece of you as it make you drink the destined poison without mercy. just from a glance of his sympathic eyes and soothing voice, everything about him seem to always make you feel like you had just drank the finest wine, which will lead you to your own destruction.

for you, the destruction disguising as love was xu minghao. the man who you swore on every constellation, galaxies, milky ways, but still isn't yours to say, mine. and he'll never be yours, not in this lifetime, nor the next.

“can i come in?”

you looked behind you and saw seungkwan peeking his head into the room.

you immediately smiled, “hi babe,” you said to him.

“hi,” he smiled back and walked in, closing the door behind him. “you’re here early,” he commented before taking a sip of his iced coffee that was in his hand.

“so are you,” you replied to him before glancing at the clock to see that it was a little past eight o'clock in the morning.

“we have a meeting about our comeback. i have a lot of schedules soon, so i probably won’t see you much,” he mentioned while pulling up another chair so he could sit next to you. “what are you working on?” he asked.

“oh,” you looked back at the monitor, “my friend wants some help with this. it’s for a new boy group his company is debuting in a few months,” you mentioned. “all of them are really good singers and rappers. might make woozi jealous if he listens to this,” you added with a smile.

“so what you’re saying is that we should steal the song?” seungkwan asked.

“hey, i never said that,” you immediately replied to him and both of you laughed. “when’s your meeting?” you asked him.

seungkwan checked the time on his phone, “in fifteen minutes,” he said. “want to get lunch later?” he asked, “we have practice at one o'clock.”

you shook your head, “can’t. i have a meeting with some higher ups.”

“what about dinner?” he asked.

“you might have to bring it here,” you replied.

“that’s fine with me,” seungkwan replied. “as long as i can hang out with you, i’m fine with anything,” he said and stood up. “text me what you want later. i’m going to go ahead and leave,” he said before leaning back in to kiss your forehead.

“you got it,” you smiled at him. “love ya.”

“love you too,” he said before leaving the room, leaving you to continue working.

after working and attending the meetings you had, you took a nap on the couch. you had turned the lights off and used your couch as your resting spot.

however, after napping for what only felt like twenty minutes, you were woken up when the lights in your studio turned on. you groaned and rolled onto your side.

“get out.”

“okay that’s so rude since i’m bringing you the food you wanted me to get you,” seungkwan spoke. you opened your eyes and peeked over to see him walking into the room, letting the door close by itself instead of closing it himself.

you were still tired so you plopped your head back down on the couch and threw your arm over your eyes. “five more minutes…” you mumbled your request.

“geez, do all music producers have the same personality or something? y/n, come on. your favorite pasta is calling for you,” seungkwan said to you. you heard him set the plastic bag down on a surface before walking over to you. “you need to eat.”

“i said five more minutes. you know how much work i did while you’ve been gone? i deserve sleep,” you replied.

you heard seungkwan sigh, and he sat down on the edge of the couch. then, you felt him kiss the top of your head.

"fine. you win.”
