Thank you to the brave SCOTUS clerk or staffer that probably committed career suicide to leak the opinion overturning Roe v. Wade when they knew the whole country would be glued to the internet looking for Met Gala looks.
As we watch elite rich people flaunt their wealth, remember that reproductive rights are being chipped away more and more everyday. While abortion remains legal nationwide for two more months, you are witnessing a direct attack on folks who can get pregnant, and specifically on Black, Latines, Asian and Indigenous folks.
And remember that it doesn't stop here. The implications are extreme and next on the list are Lawrence v. Texas (case that legalized sodomy) and Obergefell v. Hodges (case that legalized same-sex marriage). The draft opinion refers to see as phony rights. People are going to die on a large scale because of this.
You know for a second there I was scared we were gonna miss my favorite American holiday, Government Shutdown, but we actually got the ✯Centennial Special Edition✯: No House of Representatives!!! Thanks for the present, Uncle Sam!
So, there's apparently research coming out now about microplastics being found in people's bloodstreams and the possible negative effects of that and I feel the need to get out ahead of the wave of corporate sponsored "be sure to recycle your bottles!" or "ban glitter!" campaigns and remind everyone: It's fishing nets. It's fishing nets. It is overwhelming fishing nets It always has been fishing nets. Unless regulations are changed, it will continue to be fishing nets. The plastic in the ocean in largely discarded nets from industrial fishing. The microplastics are the result of these nets breaking down. The "trash islands" are also, you guessed it. Mostly fishing nets and other discarded fishing industry equipment. Do not allow them to continue to twist the story. Do not come after disabled people who require single use plastics. Do not come after people using glitter in art projects and makeup. These things make up a negligible amount of the issue compared to corporate waste, specifically in the fishing industry. Do not let them shift the blame to the individual so they can continue to destroy the planet and our bodies without regulation.
Tbh even if abortion was technically considered a form of murder I literally couldn't care less. There are cases in which murder can be justified, like self defense. If a death is caused by a woman refusing access to her body, it is self defense.
I think it's a fair reaction for a woman to kill her rapist/abuser. I also think it's justified for a woman to abort a baby in self defense. Pregnancy can be fatal and cause life long complications. Abortion is self defense and preservation for women. Children should not be a punishment for women having sex. Pregnancy should not be a punishment for women having female bodies. Denying the right to control our bodies and who gets to use them is misogyny.
Stop projecting your religious morality and beliefs on to people. Abortion will always exist and it will always be a way for women to protect themselves. There's not a single exception. Abortion on demand, without question.
"ooooh nooooo but a rail strike around the holidays could cripple the economy" damn sounds like their labor is really really important and you should give them what they fucking want
