Stolen from Twitter, which stole it from Reddit, which looks to have stolen it from Twitter.
I've been watching Yellowjackets finally, and I'm almost done second season, and my thoughts on it are so weird.
I like it, I recognise it's good, but at the same time, it's just not connecting with me?
I wish I could put my finger on what isn't hitting for me.
welcome to my blog, where 99% of the time you will probably not be getting the content you signed up for.
It's totally normal to just break down sobbing at completely random times throughout the day, after watching I Saw the TV Glow, right?
White Queen

honestly I'd give anything to be Scott Summers or Tony Stark or-
You know what I think would be a genuinely interesting What If...? story, that doesn't have world ending consequences (or at least doesn't HAVE to have them) and isn't tied to some big event?
What if Kitty Pryde went to the Massachusetts Academy instead of joining the X-Men?

Finally moved shit out of the way so I could take a good pic wearing the new boots. 😂

There is part of me that would totally wear this as a Stepford Cuckoos shirt...
But I just KNOW it would lead to the most annoying responses from people who don't know comics. Which is everyone.
I'm sorry, but all *I* can hear during THAT climactic moment in the latest episode of Agatha All Along is, "Happy birthday to the GROUND!"

Been thinking a lot about Cheryl Blossom lately (it's 6am, what do you WANT me to think about??), and I think what makes her rise above the rest of my spoiled rich mean girl faves is that she's one of the most good of the bunch. I hesitate to say she's flat out "a good person" because that is a complicated answer, and I think she's too damaged and traumatised by her family to be GOOD good. But not for lack of trying!
She's still allowed to be an unrepentant bitch AND do the right thing, and have moments of goodness. There is a lot of depth and nuance that a lot of this character type lacks under lesser creators.
(Which isn't to say she's unique. Cordelia Chase grew into that role, even if she started out more as just straight out clueless mean girl.)
In fact, I feel a lot of her character parallels Emma Frost. In this essay I will...

Wolverine has taught Kitty very well. She has already adopted three young mutants, even if she doesn't realise it herself.

Yeah, hey, Tumblr ads? Hi! I know it's been awhile since we've talked but...
...Can we talk? The hell??
I've almost always heard Illyana in my head with an American accent, or at least much less of a Russian accent than her brother.
This? This reads as very Russian to me.

Illyana Rasputin in Wolverine: Black, White & Red #3
She tells no lies. She is very popular.
Finally read Exceptional X-Men #1, and followed it right up with #2, and I rather enjoyed it. Aimless Kitty avoiding things is very relatable to me right now, but I digress.
I have two main random thoughts.
Weird recurring trope of people messaging Kitty apologising about being a stalker.
Kitty is talking to herself A LOT.
Which isn't in and of itself a problem, but when it's being used as narration and exposition, it comes off as REALLY awkward. Writers do it from time to time to deliver information, and while it can be a bit weird, when it's done sparingly, it's fine.
There's this one page in issue two, where she's walking along, and talking out loud to NO ONE about her date she has to keep rescheduling. Which I could run with as someone muttering about something, but when she says out loud "Her name is Nina".
Um....I hope you would know that? Who are you telling this to besides the reader?? It is SUCH a clunky way to deliver exposition, and it's not made any better if it's revealed later on she's talking to a telepath.
Existential Christmas.
Is this a thing?
I was just describing liking a character because of "spoiled rich girl solidarity".
I mean it in the sense of "I like a lot of that character type". But I know it can be read as "I like the characters just like me," which is SO funny to me.
Because in reality I am the least rich and least spoiled person you will meet.
But who am I to dispel your illusions?

There are three of them that we know of. Esme, Sophie and Phoebe.

And that's the moment Pacifica Northwest became my favourite character.
