His own mother. Sirius thought as he cried by the lake. Whose boggart is his own mother? He felt ashamed, unable to look anyone in the eyes. Not even his friends who had wanted to stop him from running out of the class. A tiny 'meow' pulled him out of his thoughts; there it was. A small black cat, one that always seemed to be there when he cried. "Hello little one." He said, smiling through the tears.

The boggart class was no better for Regulus although he sought comfort on the astronomy tower. Not to jump, but because nobody would make the effort to climb all the stairs outside of class time. He was alone to cry, and panic without unwanted advice. That is, except the large black dog coming to trot up to him as always. He wondered where it came from every time, but it made him smile through the tears.

Years later, as Sirius opened the doors to Grimmauld place, embracing the man who had just transformed from a black cat, things became clear. Wherever Regulus had been, he still looked 18, so all Sirius could hope was that his comforting companion and baby brother had been in a much nicer place than himself.

As they hugged, the two smiled through their tears.
