Guys I Think I Caught Something, I Had To Go Home From School Because I Was Shivering, Had A High Temp,
Guys I think i caught something, I had to go home from school because I was shivering, had a high temp, runny nose, my throat hurt, my everything felt tingly for no reason, my nerves were very sensitive (idk if that’s like the proper way to explain it) I’ve just been under a heated blanket for two hours knocked out and I still have goosebumps and I feel weird and my heads weird idk-
But I’m sorry that the two people that find interest in my character talks (looking at you @spheroz 🤩) that I will probably not get the Michael Varus post out in a while, and that my Bryce Lawerence post wasn’t my finest work, I was half asleep while finishing it.
Thank the Gods for autocorrect while writing this, and let’s hope I feel better because I still have like 3 more pages to write for my English assignment.

I had a very nice fic idea/daydream. Lemme share. Moral of the story is that Sally is a badass and best mom.
Anyways so it's Sally's POV and she finds out that Percy died when Poseidon throws a grief induced tantrum making the weather/oceans explode.
Sally does waste any time, she gives Estelle to Paul and heads down to the underworld via central park entrance.
She pulls out a bone for Ceberus and pets him (because they're already friends, Sally loves playing with Mrs. O'Leary and Ceberus) and has him track down Percy. And when she finds him, she just. Hugs him and then walks him out of the underworld.
Hades eventually notices and shows up to tell her that she could be happy in Elysium with Percy and Paul - all three of them have earned it.
Sally tells him no and that she's determined to bring Percy back. Hades says I can't allow that, but then Persephone says no babe let her. I like her. We bonded during the titan invasion and we've been having weekly book meets.
And while Hades is busy being shocked and trying to figure out what books his wife likes, Persephone waves her hand and a path to the surface appears. Sally walks with Percy through.
Poseidon's pouting at the entrance all, "I was gonna offer him immortality and a place in my palace." And Sally is all Amused like "bitch you took too long. When were you gonna go, after you spent the entire month destroying the surface world?"
Meanwhile Percy is stunned. His mom went to hell for him. His dad still wants him in his life for eternity. Like no wonder he's such a protective badass. It's in his DNA.
Eventually they get home. Poseidon follows them, and he's still pouting so Sally takes pity on him and says you know what. If Percy's okay with it, I'll share custody of our child. You can have him on alternating weekends as long as you don't send him on quests or put him in danger. And that quite literally sends Poseidon over the moon (emotionally). He kisses Percy's forehead the moment Percy says, "yeah I'd like that! I get to see Tyson!" And leaves to redesign Percy's rooms.
Meanwhile, Paul has already changed Estelle and cooked dinner for Sally, Estelle, himself and Percy (he had no doubts that Sally would be successful) and the table is already set, like a good househusband.
Octavian and Michael Kahale
I wrote out this post during school on a different device and now I am going to try and relay it as best as I can without like forgetting or whatever,
Let it be known that I was working on this instead of reading TSOA because I got to the Scyros part and I didn’t want to read Deidama(?) and I had to read the cave scene earlier that day after finishing a text.
But anyway, Octavian and Michael. They had a weird and in my honest opinion bad dynamic the two had (not to note the lackluster or contradictory characterization of them) and along with a conversation (can I call it a conversation? Maybe idk) @zazzander (who is amazing go check them out they’re super cool) a while ago when I first talked about Michael Kahale- and I’d want to say my re-imagining of their relationship (that would be canon to my re-imagining of Camp Jupiter in generally; which includes the map I’ve been working on :D)
But anyway Octavian and Michael- the idea that Zaz brought up was to make the two cousins! And I really like that idea because it makes a lot more things make a lot more sense.
Somewhere (or the community agreed? Idk where we believed it but I agree) we have agreed/the books have mentioned (idk) that Octavian is descended from the whole Julius Caesar, Augustus, etc lineage. And I find that an interesting concept. But this makes the family being legacies of Venus (as Julius Caesar claimed himself a descendant of Aeneas, a son of Venus) and this is when I that Michael is from the Venus descendent, he is a millennia old Legacy. (This explains why he doesn’t usually show any powers from what I know of. Even though the Aphrodite/Venus cabin/kids get the shortest end of the stick and I don’t like what Riordan really did with the Aphrodite cabin, or their power sets and like everything-) but it at least makes more sense why he doesn’t show very strong powers (as long as we forget that Frank exists for a second and we go with how I think legacies work. I’ll probably write on that)
But Octavian is from a branch off of that, where sometime much more recently there was a child of Apollo that can be tracked back (I’d say still fairly recent in the scale of generations-) so Octavian can have his much more potent prophecy thing or whatever.
This also makes sense of Michael just showing up at camp rather than Octavian’s father just like spawning into existence at Hawaii, pointing at Michael and going, “Alright kid, your joining the military” (totally not how it went down but like- you get the idea)
They were little buddies over. silly little cousin duo, Michael’s legacy parent chose to go to Hawaii (or maybe the families been out there, though I’d think they’d stay in New Rome) and occasionally Michael would visit over for the holidays (not the other way around because I stand firm by the ‘Octavian has never left Camp Jupiter or New Rome’. His quest to become Centurion probably puts a dent in that but idk- for now that quest in my head is being Terminus’s assistant. Julia *who is totally Octavian’s little sister, anyone who says otherwise is completely entitled to their opinion but I think it’s cute* is just the next in a long line to take up that ‘quest’ it’s really just and excuse by the family to try and get their kids more letters of recommendation, ANYWAYS-)
This still makes them little confidants AND it gives us a good reason to have a Michael Kahale. In this re-imagining, he can have a personality and a narrative function- I’d see it as a character that is genuinely worried for Octavian and doesn’t really know what to do because it’s the legion or it’s Octavian and we get to let Michael have this strong emotional moment at some point (whether that’s at his death *which I personally don’t know if I’m killing off Octavian in the re-imagining, I probably won’t for my biases- but if I do I’m giving him a more reasonable death than the stupid random death they gave him in BoO* or during a moment of weakness or whatever)
And it gives Octavian another person to bounce off of. It gives him someone to interact with so we see a friendlier version of Octavian. So we can see this hesitation and distrust of strangers (which is valid because I too am closed off and awkward and a little rude at times with people I don’t know in real life- please it’s literally just because I don’t know you.) but with Michael we’d get to see a more comfortable Octavian, see him positively interact with someone.
Okay I’m on my way to the airport and just wanted to get this out before I had to get on my flight but that’s all I could think of right now, so uh- let’s hope I get to Cali safely :]
extremely upsetting that the ancient romans didn't have zoom because i would pay serious denarii to see mark antony mute cicero's microphone while he's giving a speech
Security/Injuries in Camp Jupiter
Alternate title, ‘Why Camp is literally so unsafe and why we need the Valitudinarium/Camp medical office because everyone will be dead without it’
Okay I just said a lot of words (as usual) but I want to talk about the security in Camp Jupiter. Because guys- why aren’t we shown that these people are INFESTED with monsters.
We are told that the temple hill frequently gets Basilisk burrow problems, and we know that Terminus’s whole safe bubble only applies to New Rome because ‘Conquer or Die’ more interesting analysis of Camps inner workings and interesting stuff that it is too early in the morning to talk about!!
(I’m writing this at 7:17 and I am not in any condition to think about the horrors that these legionnaires must see on a daily basis.)
But yeah, we know that the Temple hill (which is a whole other weird can of worms to have a temple hill? I’d have to look into it more but having them all condensed in that little area feels a little funky- but that’s not the point of this post I’m getting sidetracked) gets infested. Just want to keep reminding people that this is sort of founded off of canon concepts,
But we know that one demigod out in the mortal realm attracts monsters like a fly zapper, and we know the more condensed they are the more monsters they attract (which I’ll also mention brings up some very fun questions about Camp Half-Blood before they had the Thalia shield.) and considering that ‘Big 3’ kids also are said to attract more monsters (wild that we don’t see Percy like regularly deal with monsters. Like- they say they do, but I feel like in the book they don’t really seem to attract much monsters at all once they’re released. Thats for another post tho-)
But from everything said in canon, Camp Jupiter is like a giant neon blinky sign saying ‘all you can eat buffet’ to every monster in a 50 mile radius (I made up that 50 mile number it’s just for the thing, not a real measure) and if we add the fact that Greek demigods aren’t allowed to live in the Bay Area (partially because of Camp Jupiter probably-) but also because it has some of the highest monster populations due to like mt.tam or something (i think that’s what they said. Though then i feel like Los Angelos should similarly be crawling with the buggers due to the underworld but idk!)
But yeah, Camp Jupiter is giant monster attraction. That’s what all that was trying to get at, so I’d like to propose some not so silly camp ideas.
Camp Jupiter’s most dangerous (and most needed) roles are probably tied at Messengers, Scouts, and Sentries (I believe they’re sentries, but I could be wrong. The people on guard duty out at the walls) but these are the jobs I can solidly see having the highest injury rate from monsters (we won’t include various officers/people in power getting injured due to conspiracy, mutiny, etc.)
But I’ll start with Sentries/guards. They are needed, for the obvious reasons. While they are also the most likely to spot some monsters getting a little too close to camp, have to deal with anything trying to slip in, and being the first line of defense or whatever if there’s minor threats that don’t need a whole cohort to take care of (like obviously the guards aren’t gonna be left to deal with like a chimera or anything on their own- but smaller things, like idk I’m sleepy guys) but they also get to be the people popped into the Camp medical thing (I want to say Valitudinarium but it’s a long word and not a lot of people see it and immediately know I’m talking about the camp hospital) because “hey guys, Tim got burned pretty badly after we spotted a couple Cockatrices nesting on a crag in the wall :[“
Then since I seem to be going in reverse are scouts. They don’t need their scouts as much in purely canon Camp Jupiter. But in purely canon Camp Jupiter then in periods where they need the scouts (I’d assume war situations or whatever) they’re going out on their own or in very small groups (guys let’s note that i don’t know how a scout would operate and frankly for this post I’d prefer just to get this idea down here and then think about it later) but they’re left to essentially do the Annabeth thing. And knowing from that group they got swarmed by monsters. So I’d say safe to say that scouts get pretty regularly picked off or at least injured during wartimes.
Now IF we talk about my hc for the 5 missing cohorts being out at settlements around the Americas (just because the 5 being missing bothered me so much) then scouts there are more common for whatever various reasons- and that means they still also get regularly picked off and injured, just probably more often because these scouts wouldn’t just be during wartimes
And finally messengers. They’re role is self-explanatory, I’d see them as Messengers/Heralds/whatever we need some people to go do the thing. Okay aside from that (I am back at writing, it is now 3:03 and I’m getting home, please my head hurts and my braincells were used up like powerups bare with me) but messengers also get injured a lot for similar reasons to the scouts (wow big shocker) but I’d assume they’d be just the smallest bit safer if we assume they operate like mailmen between Camp Jupiter and New Rome and therefore have nice roads, the little protect bubble/Legionnaires everywhere. (I’d like to mention the total missed opportunity to introduce some characters who are messengers/Heralds/Scouts at the Greek & Roman meeting because you can’t convince me Octavian would let Reyna be dumb enough to walk straight into a crowd of their current enemies without sending a couple people to scope out the area-) but yeah, messengers- I haven’t given them much though but I probably will when I start talking about physical roles in Camp Jupiter. They probably also get injured a lot but not as often.
Okay now id like to also say that Camp has amazing walls (I mean the Romans *In Rick Riordan canon* are descended from Trojans and they had a pretty rad wall-) but yeah, I imagine the walls are tall and imposing and scary!! You see a lot more legionnaires constantly carrying weapons or having them at their bedsides because, “Oh sometimes we’re unlucky and a hellhound’ll get through” or “One time we had some sirens come in from the aqueducts connected to the bay that got into the bathhouse”
At Random times at night it’s pretty common to see a commotion because something got in, or a legionnaires missing, or someone is getting someone to the medics-
A lot more scars compared to Camp Half-Blood, scarring is easier when your constantly in danger and using Imperial gold weapons on each other,
Which that last statement bleeds into this one. We are told how dangerous Imperial Gold is- and take into consideration that the Legionnaires are never said to practice with anything different (I’d assume they’d use commons methods of like the ball on the tip of the spear or whatever to stop from like murder but still-??) and war games.
Every single legionnaires lives, sleeps, and breaths in the Camp Hospital, it’s a big building. Every time camp can get their claws into another medic rejoice. And these poor medics, if we consider how bad we think it is over at Camp Half-Blood
These kids regularly shoot each other with siege weapons, throw balls with various chemical concoctions (I would like to say yea, that is a canon thing. It’s called death ball in SoN.) Medics barely get any respite and so little reward for their work because everyone is focused on the people who fight (Which- still deserve the recognition, just saying.)
But yeah, I got off track again- I think? Idk, I’d like to say during the Titan war Camp got the highest surge in injury/death. Due to monsters and demigods n stuff, that is my hc at least to explain to my head why Camp Jupiter feels so empty in SoN and the other books it appears in.
I cried in my English class guys, I uh. Processed a lot from chapter 12 of the outsiders. But I’m happy to kinda get this post done, I’ll probably make another down the road that more clearly talks about it but for now I am very happy to have another long post done, and this is a topic that I like thinking about (Mainly I just like thinking about Camp Jupiter and Romans, big shocker I know guys) but I think that’ll be it for the super duper long posts today.
CAMP JUPITER MAP-
A new fire has been lit inside me, that fires name is spite and Vanilla Coke.
After having to think and consider the sheer amount of balls dropped when in relation to Camp Jupiter, I am no longer going to try and fit my map to Camps perceived, described, layout. It just- it is just hurting my brain, and I’d want it to be somewhat more accurate to how actual Roman Legions had camps to fit into my perceived image of Camp- and therefore it is totally not a canon compliant map, that is taking into consideration camp descriptions.
It is going to be a map mixed from actual Roman legion camps, my mental image of camp, buildings that are mentioned in the canon that must be there, buildings that feel stupid to not be there (*ahem* some sort of medical center, I know it’s probably in Probatio’s journal but I don’t have the mental capacity to read a book where they name the daughter of Janus, JANICE! Though I like the artstyle, it looks pretty nice.)
But yeah, I’m a little upset, or uh, fired up- a mix of getting to talk about the absolute lack of world building and character building and consideration put into the Roman’s has caught up with me. And i still have to figure out New Rome stuff but New Rome makes me upset so CAMP!
Camp is nicer to my brain because Camp doesn’t give me questions like, “what are food producers doing, does New Rome get food from mortal farms. Is American government aware of the Camps existence??” Which is a can of worms I do not want to open in any way shape or form, therefore camp gets to go first because it’s easier to just research actual proper Roman legion camps and not whatever we are fed in the books (like the lack of description on general size of camp, I have no perception on how big any building is, it confuses me. Where Temple hill may be- seeing as we manage to pass the FIELDS OF MARS on our way from Camps main area to the Temples; Hazel and Percy can see them building the War game fort while walking to the Temples which does a whole different thing for mapping, AND NOT CONSIDERING THE CONCEPT OF ALL THE TEMPLES JUST BEING IN THEIR OWN AREA, AND ALL OF THIS BEING IN THE BAY AREA)
Okay, I am upset, I am worked up- I will be now going to my paper, best of luck to me, because I’ve tried this 75 times but now that I’m not worrying about canon hopefully this will be better.
ALSO THERE WILL BE A POST ON CENTURIONS. OR JUST POSITIONS OF POWER IN CAMP, BECAUSE REVELATIONS HAVE BEEN MADE THAT JUST LEAD TO MORE WEIRD QUESTIONS AND THE PRAETOR HIGHEST RANK CHOICE IS CERTAINLY A CHOICE THAT WAS MADE AND I WANNA TALK ABOUT IT BASED ON MY BASIC KNOWLEDGE-
Okay, have a good day^^
