Honestly it's an interesting idea. We know so little about the travellers.

I mean, I'm not really expecting one of the "good guys" to be a twist/surprise villain, mostly because every villain we've had so far had been very obvious. The narrator explains in detail when and why Benjamin betrays them. From the first time we even hear Charles sing, we know he's up to no good. Kal does call himself a friend, but there's still never a point where any character or the audience trust him.

But it is an interesting parallel, I think, between Kal and Sia, that they both show up to an isolated member of the group, promising to be a friend, but not explaining much more than that.

With Kal calling Sia and Margaret traitors, and Sia saying the same about him, there might have been room to debate who was really in the right, if we hadn't seen how they both treat human life.

Kal has a kill count. And he doesn't appear to value human life at all. Every time Sia shows up, and the one time Ahlaam shows up, it's to save someone's life who would have otherwise died if they hadn't interfered.

Is there still room for them to be sketchy? Sure. But they certainly care a lot more about our protagonists and humans as a whole, as compared to Kal's side.

Which is why I'm also interested to see what Addison and Dakkar are like. Especially when Addison has a lyric about being "fast friends."

i talked to my mom about this once! we only know about the travelers mainly through Sia, and if Sia is lying, there isn't anyone in the cast who could call it out. if this woman calls herself Margaret's friend, Margaret will jump on that possibility because she just wants answers. we're told that Kal is evil by Sia- no one can contradict that. the story is skewed towards the Travelers because we don't know anything about them. again, I doubt they're the antagonists. but it's an interesting possibility!
