ok more over-analyzing of *that* scene between annatar and celebrimbor in 2x08 because i cannot be normal about them

the intensity and intimacy of their dynamic is on a whole other level. post gentle cheek touch which celebrimbor rejects (flinches away from)- you see annatar’s expression close off. then by bringing up the orcs’ blood lust, he implies that suffering at the hands of the orcs for weeks would be a much worse alternative to the torture that annatar himself is inflicting. i don’t think it’s a coincidence that he brings up the orcs right after celebrimbor flinches away from him. this is more manipulation to get celebrimbor to accept annatar’s touch and presence (and of course give up the location of the nine). and while he’s delivering this horrifying threat he’s fucking *caressing* that goddamn arrow in the most sensual way possible.

if we had a more canonical timeline, with months (years?) of torture instead of days or weeks, might we have seen celebrimbor be handed over to the orcs eventually? only for annatar to then “rescue” him before he was too close to death or fading…
