i can’t believe this is a real article (also can’t believe the showrunners genuinely acknowledged the ship-we’ve come a long way since johnlock/destiel/etc days). first thought- i was surprised by how much queer subtext we already got. i’m talking arrow stroking, clear abusive relationship dynamics, “all our suffering”. that being said i 100% agree that if we had more episodes and they had more screen time, adding in additional scenes between the two showing their partnership and genuine emotional connection would have been fantastic. follow up thought- and I may be proved wrong- amazon is too cowardly to include queer relationships in rings of power. they already have a very tiny but vocal group of tolkien-worshippers slandering the show on the daily, they won’t want to risk it. and yes unfortunately it is a “risk” still in 2024 especially among the lord of the rings demographic which does have a lot of older conservative fans.
