When I was around 13-ish, I went to my first anime/comic convention. Ofc, I wasn’t cosplaying anything, and I was just walking around with a friend and shopping around the different stands.
Then, from the corner of my eye I see this clearly older than me girl, and looking back on it, she couldn’t have been more than like... 5′9. (Note, I was 5′4, maybe even a little smaller).
But to me she just seemed like a fucking giantess. She was so tall that it stood out to me immediately. She was so tall I felt like I could get cramps trying to look at her. It seemed like she towered over everybody at the con, which wasn’t really the case, but she was tall enough to me that it seemed like that was the case. This was pre-covid, and she was wearing one of those cotton masks with cute expressions on them. She was wearing it upside down.
I hurriedly made my way over to her like a little duckie following his mother goose. She witnessed me, the small gnome running in the crowd, took her headphones off and bent eloquently to the ground, at LEAST 90 degrees. I told her her mask was upside down. She was so embarrassed, she thanked me and turned it around.
I felt so accomplished. I felt like those little birds that eat the food off of crocodiles’ teeth. Like a little useless garden gnome telling the bloodthirsty orc that there was an eyelash on their cheek. I have accomplished many feats in my ripe old age of 18, I have gotten many diplomas and have been distinguished many times, but never again will I feel such immense pride as when I did the barest of minimum for this extremely tall lady. I will never feel such competency and that I mattered so much as when I helped this one extremely (to me) tall person out.

For the art thing, 4, 6 and 17!
'ello, dakrai! o/ 4. favourite thing to draw?
faces <3 I have. so many sketchbooks full of just headshots lmao. Eyes are my go-to distracted-doodle, so theyre a staple favourite, but lately I've been actively enjoying drawing clouds over a distant horizon, so that's coming in first for the temporary faves
6. warm colours or cool colours?
....at first this was a tricky question and then i looked at my art and. yeah it looks like i naturally gravitate towards cooler colours lmao. It's not something i really consider when i choose my colours (i like to go more for contrast considerations than cohesive palette thoughts) but ive always been a sucker for green and blue
17. what do you love getting compliments about?
oh this is a weirder one to answer. literally anything i guess lmao. like, I know what i like about my art, and I know what appeals to me about it (or i wouldnt be making it kjshdfk), but there's been once or twice where someone has said "oh i like xyz" and ive gone "really? :o " because it didnt occur to me that aspect made such a difference. It's nice tho because then i get to look at whatever it was i did and go "hm....." and experiment with it in future art. I like knowing what stands out to people, I guess!
ty for the ask ^^
(ask me an art question!)
