hints that trigun is actually sci-fi in '98 anime (unofficial sub)
1. someone's dad is a plant engineer (around ep 1-4). we do not know what a plant is.
2. in the intro, we're shown two hands with guns crossing, and a plant bulb behind them. cool reference to the third gun in vash's arsenal!
3. in ep 5, we're introduced to plants as a form of power in bulbs. (we also meet the nebraskas. goseph is steampowered.)
first of all having seen stuff from a recent panel there is adult scary elendira concept art so I AM HOPING!!! MY GIRL!!! secondly im watching 98 now and like. damn i love this. its cool to see new stories in this universe and how they adapt manga ones. i know theres divergence from the lore of trimax bc the lore wasnt. written. yet. so it feels new and fun and im having a good time
getting the temptation to do trigun again. which means restarting the manga (done that so many times....) or rewatching stampede (mixed feelings?) or actually watching '98 (initially didnt catch my interest). maybe i'll just start the manga from vol 5 or smth.
the other fuckjng thing that gets me is that jakito is, word of g-d, canon. somehow. what the fuck.
most insane ultrakill lore thing (cannot reliably say its fact) to me is that humanity was too busy doing wwi to go to the moon. which is a good thing. because angels are there. like thats the first layer of heaven. they found and explored hell but never heaven because they were too focused on war. what.
whenever people criticize stampede for differences from 98 or trimax i'm always like HOLD ON LET THEM COOK because of stuff like this. i actually have so much more confidence in studio orange for getting stuff right later on in the series than i normally would bc of stuff like this (like for trans adult elendira, or chunky livio/razlo, and obviously for milly).
like look at THIS, where they took an ENTIRE visual and musical storytelling motif from ONE PANEL of the manga. they're COOKING on levels unimaginable.

1. the music in tristamp is FUCKING AMAZING. watching it so quickly rlly got me appreciating the leitmotifs (helps also that ive listened to knives' piano 5000 times) throughout. the music WORKS it fits really well and just. man. very well done!
2. I HAVE VASH'S EXACT GLASSES EXCEPT A SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT COLOR LENS.

rewatched stampede. genuinely a good show. its one of those where you just. in order to enjoy it as a manga fan you must ignore some things. although i will say. i think i gave stampede!elendira too much shit. she does not and will not ever compare to max!elendira (because they only share a name and weapon) but 1. she could very well also be trans. they just dont introduce her as trans. jury is out until s2. 2. she's fuckin fine. solid character. not amazing but shes a good execution of creepy child trope.
i am of course now thinking through all the stuff i ignored in order to enjoy the show fully 100%. it lacks a season 2. it needs that season 2. they will not finish the story in 12 episodes. maybe maybe in 24. mourning the possibility of a faithful vol 10 adaptation. the actual ending will fuck though. they have the ability to do so.

okay but like. I just had the weirdest thought about that ‘don’t look I’m naked’ comic. Which is that that’s essentially the same thing Adam and Eve did after they ate the fruit of knowledge of good&evil. So I feel like the theological implications of that could kneecap Gabe if he doesn’t think V1 is a being with free will.
