Hei Hello There - Tumblr Posts
so when i originally watched tristamp (which was my introduction to trigun as a whole) i interpreted the photo of vash and baby rollo/monev as 1. oh shit vash doesnt age and 2. vash is maybe rollo's dad. i have now read trimax to vol 11 and watched tristamp twice, and i know my second assumption is wrong, but fuck wouldnt that be interesting. bc it would hurt so much more and also slightly explain why rollo survived modification via EoM- he literally had plant DNA. i cannot tell if this is a hypothetical or a headcanon at this point but inside my head lies the thought "wolfwood et al's vials are full of the twins' dna" and just. how i wish to be a fly on the wall for that conversation between conrad and knives.
im sorry but within the context of trimax seeing vash in '98 say he disaproves of suicide is like. its not funny. but it is truly like.... there is a pathway between That Scene With Rem And The Knife and saying that....... and i want to see it.....
ok so like. maybe im faceblind maybe nightow is just not that creative for faces but we all know vash looks like ww in that one panel in the last chapter of 14. does knives not look like luida tho. short black spiky hair and a cape thing.
you ever like. think abt the differences between stamp and max of the. meryl witness to july. situation. i mean in both cases it was traumatizing,
i need to reread trimax so baaaaaaaaaad but i have finals for the next 3 weeks :( they compell me!!!!!!!
the problem w knives is that hes a hypocrite the problem with vash is that he isnt. and by problem i mean "how their ideologies ultimately fail when put to the test." they both want to help their people but neither are able to do so in the best way possible. but they Could. they just Can't. does this make sense.
wait hi im sorry is the consensus that knives became apple tree at the end of trimax. i thought he just fucked off Did He Die And Become A Tree. Was Millions Knives Fertilizer. i may be misremembering things but. hi. is he an apple tree now. should he be.
happy bday to the bestest alivest sister tessla trigunmaximum <3
the moment i realized knives' outfit in tristamp is a translation of his trimax design, not a completely new thing or a direct copy as some people wanted, is the moment my respect for the character designers skyrocketed. because pretty much all character designs in tristamp are translations of trimax designs built on a few specific visual cornerstones of the anime's aesthetic OR straight up just designs from the manga, of characters when they were younger (altho someone else has written that post already, and if i find it i'll link it or smth).
the first costume design we see in tristamp as a whole is the twins jumpsuits with the plant markings design and a shift/tunic over it. it establishes a much more shiny futuristic sci fi tech style than in the og anime or manga, which we see clearest with vash's arm.
in the manga, the twins wear a smaller version of the adult space uniform that rem and the rest of the crew wears. this is, obviously, also true for tristamp, although we dont see any other crewmembers. this specific uniform comes back again and again- vash basically wears identical pants even as an adult, and... millions knives wears an altered version of it, usually.
knives- nai- in tristamp does the same thing. his outfit is that same jumpsuit as he wore as a child, as rem and vash wore, but adapted to fit his present weird. i personally dont vibe with his tristamp design as much as i do with trimax (and i havent watched the og anime so. i mean its fine) but it is fundamentally the same concept, and i respect that. the fact that knives never changes out of that spacesuit uniform, even when he's abandoned humanity, even when he hates the scientists and people who designed and wore it. the fact that it establishes him as a foreign object, something from the past. that symbolism was translated- the language used to convey it has simply changed.
recently gotten into ff7 (done remake, crisis core, general knowledge of og) and like. u know how when the finale of trimax came out there were jokes about how the twins are rlly one winged angels a la sephiroth. ff7 and trigun are both literally futuristic environmentalist portrayals of a world that depends on (for lack of a better word) aliens to fuel their city/cities. sephiroth and knives both literally decide to destroy everything because they believe humanity is a corrupting force that should be wiped out to preserve Their Family. jenova and tesla. the one winged angel comparison goes deep
the whole violent video games thing is so stupid like the only thing ultrakill for instance is doing is convincing people to do heresy and fuck robots
getting the temptation to do trigun again. which means restarting the manga (done that so many times....) or rewatching stampede (mixed feelings?) or actually watching '98 (initially didnt catch my interest). maybe i'll just start the manga from vol 5 or smth.
most insane ultrakill lore thing (cannot reliably say its fact) to me is that humanity was too busy doing wwi to go to the moon. which is a good thing. because angels are there. like thats the first layer of heaven. they found and explored hell but never heaven because they were too focused on war. what.
the other fuckjng thing that gets me is that jakito is, word of g-d, canon. somehow. what the fuck.
hints that trigun is actually sci-fi in '98 anime (unofficial sub)
1. someone's dad is a plant engineer (around ep 1-4). we do not know what a plant is.
2. in the intro, we're shown two hands with guns crossing, and a plant bulb behind them. cool reference to the third gun in vash's arsenal!
3. in ep 5, we're introduced to plants as a form of power in bulbs. (we also meet the nebraskas. goseph is steampowered.)
"im sorry i didnt die. i didnt want the town to go with me." VASH MY BELOVED.... TERRIBLY HURT MAN....
now. i say this to you as tumblr user holle fithmoonofgunsmoke. why on earth is the episode where vash 1. debuts angel arm 2. puts a hole in a moon 3. goes missing, therefore triggering the second, more serious act of trigun by far the most underwhelming episodes so far. it was so nothing! there were no stakes, rai-dei wasnt an obvious threat, and compared to the iconic Moon Hole Event from the manga like... legato?? just legato beaming into vash's brain??? cmon man. disappointed.
the sheer irony of livio's replacement as the last gung-ho gun being named cain. amazing.
