Even in my dreams I am haunted by grief.

“How long will this feeling last?” I asked.

“A lifetime…” grief responded.

It is a gift and a curse to remember details that can be easily forgotten. It just depends on what you are remembering that blesses or cruses you.

I am exhausted from feeling the way that I do. I don’t want to feel exhausted from grief. I wish I could just be alive again. But, grief doesn’t work that way. Even if you want it badly enough. You don’t get to just be over it.

I wasn’t allowed to be public with my grief. I had to become a shadow and hide how I truly felt.

Today was the first time I thought of you and didn’t shatter.
