hot take but sophie does not have internalized misogyny and is not a i’m not like other girls girl just because she doesn’t like dresses and wear makeup. its exactly the same situation for when ppl say this about annabeth. it’s just not their thing! i don’t remember there being a line from either sophie or annabeth (especially annabeth bc annabeth antis love to put words in her mouth) judging other girls for it. they have shit going on in their lives so excuse them for not caring abt whether they wear mascara to a battle. it’s just not a priority for them! it also doesn’t mean girls who do like to express their femininity and like to look their best all the time, like biana, are any less committed to the battle. and they never say that!

i feel like we throw those two terms around (internalized misogyny and i’m-not-like-other-girls girl) whenever we see a female character who isn’t feminine even when they never say being feminine is a bad thing! it’s just hypocritical because it makes it seem like ALL female characters need to be feminine or else they have internalized misogyny or think they are better than other girls for not being when it’s literally more accurate that some girls are and some aren’t!

also what I said in my comments is how she never once said she was oppressed, she was just insecure bc of real stereotypes in society that paint blondes as dumb. not only that but she never even actually said it out loud!! it was i her head and only mentioned in her inner monologue twice (?) in the entire hoo series. it shouldn’t be compared to the struggles of poc bc it’s so different!!

then i also said how her neglectful parents WAS a part of her character, an example being the literal caption. She was jealous of Percy and Rachel because she was afraid percy would abandon her! on top of that, she was 14 and had a crush, so it was very realistic for her to be jealous?!??
