Youre Right To Address It, I Must Say This Still Makes Very Little Sense To Me As Cool As This Episode

You’re right to address it, I must say this still makes very little sense to me… As cool as this episode was and to see Ventress again, I don’t see the point in opening a new theory regarding Omega and to leave it so blatantly unanswered. Or like is it to be answered in, I don’t know, a cLONES REBELS SHOW MAYBE ?? We are manifesting out here 🥲

But anyway, I gotta say I didn’t really like it myself and was relieved it didn’t go the force sensitive way. In my opinion it would have been a big Marie-Sueing thing.

But to leave it like that, well it’s still a bit weird ‘cause it isn’t mentioned at all afterwards (in a force wielder way I mean, not a Hemlock way : it comes and dies with Ventress, end of story). We’ve known from day 1 that Omega is of interest -to the Kaminoans and others- because of her genetics and blood, so what’s the point of bringing it back if it doesn’t add anything ? Is it just for the sake of reminding it and tying the Tantiss operations ? To have a gratuitous plot twist ? Without the solving it just leaves a meh feeling…

Also, Omega remains a clone of Jango Fett, who has a midichlorian count of 1 500 (for reference, the minimum required to be a Jedi is 7 000). Boba himself, who is an unaltered version of Jango, is at 1 000 [source for all those numbers : « Star Wars Graphics »]. Omega has been modified, sure, but to me the alterations can only have decrease that count, and I don’t see the Kaminoans capable of playing with midichlorians, let alone increase their presence (please correct me if I’m wrong but I don’t think the canon universe mentions the possibility of artificially influencing the midichlorians presence in a person anyway).

So well !! All this to say that Ventress’ implication was very class and sensical, the crescendo from meeting and working with Shand to her being the contact was smooth as fuck, but this whole force involvement in a clone centred show didn’t feel right. I’d be super curious too to hear Ventress’ real opinion on it ; she didn’t look like she lied as much as protected an information, or rather protected the Batch from said information. Hm. Either way it would have felt out of place to see Omega force push Hemlock from the bridge.

Well out of place sure, but upon imagining it ? Definitely not unwelcome.

The Bad Batch S3

Been watching The Bad Batch S3 recently. The most recent episode was Episode 9 (The Harbinger).

When I started S3, I was pleasantly surprised that they were at least entertaining the possibility of Omega being force-sensitive.

I'm curious about Ventress' lie. Was she lying about Omega being force sensitive? (my personal theory is that Omega doesn't independently have a high m-count, just that she's receptive to it - she doesn't produce(?) them, but she can receive them)

If that was the lie, why? To protect Omega, who's a bit of a blabber mouth? To comfort her?

I mean, Omega's already shut down the idea of being trained, even if she is sensitive, so...

We'll see how this goes.

More Of My Random Bad Batch Headcanons (Modern AU)

Echo is the absolute KING of finding good shit for good prices on eBay, Facebook Marketplace, or Poshmark. He’s found Omega American Girl dolls in basically new condition for super cheap.

Batcher sleeps in Crosshair’s bed with him.

Hunter decided to let them keep Batcher because he realized he hadn’t seen Crosshair smile like he does when she’s around in a very long time.

Crosshair has some degree of anxiety and is an intense perfectionist.

On that note, he has an extremely nervous stomach. He’s just like me fr

Omega likes to bake and usually does so with Echo and Wrecker not only to bond with them but because they’re both good at it and eager to teach her.

Wrecker cries at movies.

Crosshair also cries at movies but pretends he doesn’t.

Echo has an INSANE network of mom friends. His siblings don’t know the full extent of his network, but what they do know is they can’t go anywhere without bumping into at least one mom who knows Echo.

Crosshair and Tech live in constant fear of Echo dragging them along with him to run errands for this reason. They don’t want to socialize with Sharon for three hours in the sensory hell that is a crowded suburban Target on a Saturday they just want to grab their Oreos and go home.

Hunter has a tendency to baby Crosshair if he isn’t feeling well.

Crosshair pretends to hate it but secretly he loves it because it makes him feel loved and cared for.

Omega seeks out all five of her brothers for bedtime stories depending on what she’s feeling that day. She feels like they are all good storytellers in their own ways but for different types of stories.

Their front lawn is the envy of every dad in the neighborhood courtesy of Hunter.

Speaking of Hunter, all the single moms and college-aged daughters home from school in the neighborhood “just so happen” to be in the area when he’s doing work on the lawn. Especially if it’s in the middle of summer so he’s all glistening… (I’m going to stop right here before it turns into a romance novel scene).

Omega hates this and finds it cringe.

Wrecker and Crosshair go more crazy over Echo buying Capri Suns than Omega does.

Crosshair collects shot glasses from wherever they travel to. Wrecker collects snow globes.

All the neighborhood dads go CRAZY (and also get lowkey jealous) when Wrecker shows up to the neighborhood cookout because he is an absolute MASTER on the grill. He’s telling them about all the meats he’s smoked and they’re SHAKING with excitement.

Their elderly neighbors who knew 99 and remembers when they were kids still refer to Echo and the original members of the Batch as “99’s boys”. They lowkey still view them as kids/teenage boys so will give them candy on Halloween even though they’re grown-ass men.

Their house is always very decorated for holidays since at least one of them is very intense about a specific holiday (Crosshair takes Halloween very seriously but pretends he’s just doing it for Omega).

Season 1 Episode 8

(Yes the rewatch continues. I'm averaging 1h05 per episode as I keep rewinding and losing my mind.)

You know that scene where Crosshair is half conscious, being patched up after having gotten fried by the engine, and the stormtrooper reports that ground forces have the Batch on the run ? See the way Crosshair’s eyes shoot open ? The way he jumps on his feet despite being in atrocious pain and covered in bandages ? In this very moment, as he says "Get me on the shuttle", I want to believe that he is not meaning it as "I have to arrest them", but rather as "I need to get the fuck out of here with them".

Look at it : his chip just got destroyed, or at the very least heavily damaged, his own thoughts are now pouring and covering the Empire's humming, yelling at him what's happening and what happened and what he's done under its influence. He is suffering in his entire body, his strong points as a sniper have been completely neutralised (face = seeing ; right arm = stabilising ; left leg = anchoring) and by definition so has he. He is waking up from a nightmare and the very first thing he hears is that the people he's been associating with safety his entire life are leaving, without him, I mean- In this moment, his tone and demeanour are completely spontaneous, there is not an ounce of his usual control and carefulness : he is deep into survival mode, like one would, and the instinctive reaction is to find his brothers.

Hell you could even say that there is a moment of panic when he realises he is surrounded by enemies : as he is now slowly getting back to himself, seeing stormtroopers and clones (that since Order 66 are not considered allies anymore -not that they were that much before-) all around him, there is that split second of fight or flight kicking in and telling him he needs to get far away from enemy territory. He knows that he is in no condition to make a run for it and that those are his real enemies, you can tell by the way he pushes the troopers away before remembering who he is to them here and now, and decides to use it to his advantage in asking for transport to the Batch’s location.

So imagine that : you just got second and third degrees burns on your entire body, are powerless as a sharp shooter, are surrounded by hostiles, the voices in your head are fading away and are slowly being replaced by your own, screaming at you everything that’s been happening while you were in mental jail, the weight of the realisation spreading in your limbs and drowning your heart, the guilt, the hurt, the not understanding… Where would the reptilian part of your brain want to take you upon the second you realise your life has collapsed ? If you answered "to the only place I’ve ever felt safe and loved", fear not for I did too.

So having to watch it leave without you, leave you behind even, would not only be soul crushing : it would make anyone dissociate.

As we all know, Crosshair is going to have A Lot of time between him and himself in the coming months ; the sewing back of his two fragmented minds (the echoes of the chip and the pleas of his heart) is going to be an incredibly challenging task and will leave many shards and splinters behind, ones that only the hardly won back love, patience and understanding of his family will help remove.

Rant over.

For a second I wondered who Anthony Bourdain was in the production team…

“No matter how badly led, ridiculously under equipped, under appreciated, no matter how doomed their mission, they take a bizarre and quite beautiful pride in at least being screwed more than everybody else and doing it with style. They seem to do what they do for themselves. It’s not a job. It’s a calling.” —Anthony Bourdain

This quote just reminds me of the bad batch 💛
