The whole "you should cancel all classic lit because it's written by straight white men" is very stupid, not only for the fact that you can't cancel books in general, but that a lot of said popular classic authors are in fact, not straight white men

the fact that people think classic lit is straight is beyond me tbh like if you actually bother to invest yourself or even just do a bit more background research further from what you have probably been taught at school and to say they were written by straight white men is racist sexist and homophobic this is more general but you want representation by 'cancelling' white people yet you don't bother to actually look for the representation that actually exists

Seikilos Epitaph

The oldest known song in the world.

The song, the melody of which is recorded, alongside its lyrics, in the ancient Greek musical notation, was found engraved on a tombstone, near Aidin, Turkey (not far from Ephesus). The find has been dated variously from around 200 BC to around AD 100.

Lyrics:

Hoson zēs, phainou Mēden holōs sy lypou; Pros oligon esti to zēn To telos ho chronos apaitei While you live, shine Don’t suffer anything at all; Life exists only a short while And time demands its toll.
