No, I 1000% agree. I think he probably sees with Aegon that his mother doesn't always have the most love for her first born due to his actions, but there's an arrogance to Aemond because he's never screwed up before. He really doesn't know what to do when he stops receiving the attention he's used to. I don't think he wants to necessarily apologise to gain it back either, because that's admitting he's not as superior to Aegon as he thinks he is, and it also suggests his mother has a reason to be disappointed. He wants her love back, and like you said it's hitting him really hard to be without it. We really are just watching him have a breakdown, while clammering to keep the nonchalant, untouchable image he wants the world to see, up.
