The General State of MazM
So. MazM recently made Pechka pay to play. Fuck. I don't want to be hostile but to all those that complained about the ads this is the alternative and it's not too good...
MazM has 7 members right now and no one from the Thy Creature team is left. That is. Incredibly shocking and I do worry about the state of MazM. In 2021 one of their employees on twitter said MazM was on the verge of bankruptcy and begged people to play Thy Creature because it was their only hope.
MazM isn't bankrupt right now I'd assume but this is such a sudden change with no prior information provided. I worry that they'll go back to POTO and JNH and make those P2P too...
This isn't very good. They're going to release Metamorphosis in Autumn 2024. They haven't released Lessa: Checkmate in English yet. When these titles do come out, I ask that the MazM fandom be vocal in their support and well, not complain about the ads 😔. They're trying their best but free content is difficult when the fanbase is so small, comprised largely of people who can't pay for a variety of reasons. I think our best bet would be to try to popularize the games through word of mouth, and if anyone can afford it and wants to, spare a bit of money.
I think MazM would benefit from a patreon or some sort of subscription for exclusive content. That way they wouldn't alienate their f2p fanbase whilst attracting the attention of those who can spare a penny for exclusive content.
