You are spreading fake news about Iran, they are not about to execute 15,000 imprisoned protestors.
https://www.verifythis.com/article/news/verify/world-verify/iran-15000-protesters-not-sentenced-to-death-fact-check/536-9b21be3b-62aa-4793-91c7-799872cbdef7
Thank you for the link. Since posting the viral post I have been made aware that the passage of the statement calling for harsher penalties is not the same thing as passing an actual sentence, even in a country like Iran, which I have already acknowledged numerous times. I will likely continue to be told this over and over again ad nauseum despite immediately having posted on the same night an update where I found out that the protesters had not actually been formally sentenced and the decree was not a judicial sentencing.
So the Newsweek headline is wrong/misleading, was reported in error, etc. You could try bringing that to the attention of the article publisher, MSN.
However, even the very article that you’ve linked me, while correctly denying that the protesters have been sentenced, admits that,
“However, human rights groups warn that future sentences could be handed down without warning or due process.”
and
The same group of experts, in an open letter, said that even without sentences yet, the sheer number of people being charged with crimes that could eventually carry the death penalty is concerning.
As far as anyone can tell at this point, the declaration from their legislature to the courts is a call for large numbers of executions. Iran’s penalties tend to already be very harsh, and so this sort of statement for harsher penalties while invoking Islamic judicial concepts like “enemies of God” is very concerning.
So, while they have not been sentenced, the protesters are not out of the woods by any means and concern for them is warranted. I have learned the headline is misleading but what I really don’t want people to get out of this is “oh- never mind, totally fake, Iran would never do something like that, I can forget about/ignore it”. The reporting jumped the gun, but this is not coming from nowhere.
Omi: Let us do this! *cracks knuckles softly*
Chase: Wow. Your knuckles are quiet.
Omi: They are polite.
I saw some of your Chase and Omi post so here's an idea that came to mind:
The holidays are approaching again and Omi is sad because he has no family as always. However, this time, he decides to start calling Chase Young "dad" in his head as a little comfort. Of course he doesn't tell anyone, because they would think he's crazy, but it makes him feel less lonely.
Anyway, not long after that the team ends up confronting Chase Young yet again. The fight is about to start when Omi accidentally calls him dad out loud. Everyone stops dead in their tracks. Chase is trying his hardest not to smile. The other monks are going nuts. Omi is really hoping Jack Spicer will show up already and break the tension because he's never been more embarrassed in his life. The end.
Wow, thanks! That's such a cute idea! I might have to turn it into a short fic sometime!
Imagine! Omi loving the other monks like family, but seeing them with their parents and getting sad thinking about how the only parents he had turned out to be Jackbots. (And thinking about how nice it was of Chase to help him leave that fake home and warn him that it was all a trap. And that even happened on the holidays, too. So Omi's already sort of associating Chase with this time of year/thinking about him.)
Omi asking the others about their dads so he can get a better idea of what a dad is.
Kimiko telling Omi about how her papa is fun and caring and gives her gifts and hugs her and pats her heads and how much she adores him. Clay going on a sort of rant about how his dad is confusing and frustrating and they don't see eye-to-eye and they often fight because sometimes dads are jerks who insist that you be something that you're not, but Clay quickly adds at the end that he still loves and respects his dad and wants to impress him and make him proud, despite him not being very good at being a father.
And Omi sort of connects the dots like "So a dad is fun to be with, gives you things, shows physical affection, praises you, and helps you, but he's confusing and you fight him and he wants you to be something you're not (in Omi's case, evil), even though you still respect him and like him a lot and really want to impress him and be with him? That's... literally Chase Young?"

And it sort of makes him feel better to know that he basically has something that's like a dad. He'd never mention the thought to the others, but it's sort of comforting to call Chase dad in his head.
Up until he accidentally calls him that to Chase's face, in front of his friends. And at such an inopportune moment, too. Right as the fight is about to commence-- "Prepare for a humiliating defeat, dad!"
The monks being surprised and confused. Chase barely suppressing a smile/smirk. Omi wanting to crawl under a rock in embarrassment.

"It appears I have truly been caught with chickens in my face..."
"Uh, egg on your face?"
"That, too."
Omi: Chase Young still has good inside of him!
Raimundo: Omi, have you forgotten? He's a heartless evil villain who led a bloody insurrection to try to take over the world and plunge it into eternal darkness!
Omi: Everyone makes a mistake now and then.
