enjoy!! đ

riri had been spoiling you lately. and you knew exactly why.
spring break was coming up, and the year had flown right past your eyes. your grades were good, you were good, so happy and content living your little life with riri on campus, but it was all coming to an end. in just one short week, your world was going to come crashing down. in one week youâd either have to decide to go back home for three weeks and face the wrath that is your extremely awful mother or nearly empty your already small bank account to rent an air bnb or hotel room long enough for the break.
you couldnât fathom staying with your mother, it would practically kill you; her terrible, old ways and just all in all intensity was just so unpleasant to be around, but it was overall how much you knew she hated that you were a lesbian. it ate her up inside like she was dealing with her own demons about her sexuality of some sort, but you couldnt take three weeks of fighting, or her threatening to kick you out or end your phone plan or anything like that.
and those thoughts have been weighing on you, making you go quiet during conversations and having a lull in participation in even your favorite class. all your cakes in culinary were failing and your notes had become jumbled and useless to understand, so much so your professors pulled you aside to ask if there was any way they could help.
you always said, âyes, keep me in class over break so i donât have to go home,â and they always laughed, even though you were completely serious.
riri was picking up on this too. she would constantly buy you things, you spent every single night in her dorm, or you were never in yours alone. she would be at your side, always trying to make you laugh in some way to ease your mind. and you appreciated it, of course you did, but thoughts like these werenât just going to disappear anytime soon.
it was really weighing you down.
you were leaving your composition and design class, and in two short hours youâd literally be homeless, broke, or driven into insanity and the thought made your chest ache. you sighed as your phone rang in your pocket, you knew who it was, even though you had blocked her after her very disturbing comments on thanksgiving.
once the call dropped, you called riri, already feeling tears weld up in your eyes. she picks up almost immediately, âhey baby, class over?â and you whisper a small âyeah,â walking straight to her dorm with your head down and voice quiet. riri hears it though, âhey, itâs alright baby, she still calling?â and you nod even though you know she canât see you, but she understands. âwhen you get home, i have a surprise okay, itâll make you feel so much better i promise, okay? itâs already unlocked,â and you smiled, eyes still wet but your heart finally slowed, âthank you, baby,â
and you hear her smile, âanything for you,â your steps pick up a bit, and finally youâre at her building.
ririâs music is heard through her dorm room before you even get there and you smile to yourself, happy to know everything will get better the minute you open her door.
when you do, ririâs packing, most of her dorm already barren and empty and your heart sinks. right, you think, ririâs leaving. your mind reels for a second but riri sees you and comes up to you and rubs your arms, âhey, woah, whatever youâre thinking stop it because itâs not it, itâs alright,â and you nod, trying to hear her but your eyes are already getting wet again and you feel stupid and so over itâ
and riri pulls up her phone, showing you her screen, and it says,
your two week air bnb has been booked! confirmation code 7HD89JKMA. CHECK IN: April, 4 2:00 pm under name, RIRI WILLIAMS, for destination myrtle beach, south carolina thank you!
you blink for a second, not actually understand the message until riri talks again, âi know you were really stressed about going home and all that shit for spring break, so i thought we could spend it together,â she says, smiling, and your heart swells and you smile, eyes now wet for a different reason, and you want to hug her but you thinkâ
âoh my god, riri, how much was this? we canâtâ you shouldnât haveââ and she cuts you off, âactually i didnât even spend that much. turns out the owners are real but fans of ironheart, so, for a little fee of 10k, i gave them a lil prototype blaster i made,â she shrugs a bit when you laugh at her, shocked, âi honestly canât believe they bought it, that thing was so useless,â sheâs saying but you canât hear her, your head is ringing and youâre filled with so much joy.
you nearly tackle her into a hug, much like she does you, and she laughs as you kiss all over her face, your lip gloss getting everywhere and youâre saying âthank you, thank you, thank you,â over and over again and riri holds you close, rubbing your back and kissing you when your lips finally meet. she holds you there, a long, deep kiss, and you smile into it, holding on to her like sheâs the only think that matters. you pull away, sighing, âi love you,â you whisper against her nose and she whispers it right back, looking deep into your eyes.

youâve packed nearly everything you could think of, sunscreen, toothpaste, your hair products⊠youâre fumbling through your bad at the air port, checking one last time and riri comes back with your sandwhiches laughing. âbabe, youâve got it all, we checked like four times, itâs alright,â she says exasperated. you sigh out a laugh as she sits down, âi know, youâre right, okay. iâll stop, which ones yours?â and she hands you your food and you both sit in comfortable silence.
you smile to yourself as the time passes, riri on her phone watching some show sheâs tried to rope you into and you listening to music, head on her shoulder as you wait for your flight to board. you still couldnât fathom that riri had done all this just for you, just so you could stop worrying and finally relaxing.
you sigh to yourself and glance at her slightly, her eyebrows down as her murder mystery plays. you chuckle and she looks at you, âwhat?â she says smirking, and you giggle, âno, nothing your show watching face is just so cute, you look so serious,â and she shoves you a bit, âman, look, iâm trying to figure who murder angela! and they keep talking about stupid shit, like i canât, even the deceive is pissing me of likeâ,â and sheâs rambling again, already eager to talk to you about her show, and youâve heard a million times but it still makes you smile.
you feel your phone buzz in your pocket though, before riri can get too deep in it, and your heart sinks a bit. riri notices, âhow many times is that today?â she says quietly, focusing all her attention on you now. you sigh once the call drops, â15,â whispering it out like itâs a secret. riri exhales right behind you, âfucking shit, thatâs insane,â and you nod, leaning back into her shoulder. she wraps an arm around you, kissing your forehead lightly, âwhen we land you gonna turn your phone off?â she suggested still quiet, and you chew on your lip thinking. she had asked you beforehand, during your packing and you gave her an uneasy shrug.
âwhat if itâs an emergency? what if she needs me?â you said sadly, fulling sitting down and riri almost rolled her eyes at you, âbaby, look at me, if it was an emergency thereâs something called voicemail. and who cares?! she treated you like shit!â and you sigh,
âi know, itâs just,â you fold another pair of pants, âsheâs my mom, i guess,â you whisper and riri walks over to you, titling your head up, âi know, mami, but look at how much this stresses you out. i just want you happy, baby, in anyway possible. so just, think about it okay?â and you nod and riri kisses you slowly, hands on your waist to pull you closer.
you put your hand in hers, sighing, âi might. i think i will,â you say quietly and she nods, licking her lips to hide her smile. you chuckle to yourself because you see it, sheâs so obvious, and suddenly your flight number is up on the screen, the now boarding sign making you and riri jump up and collect your things, shoving a few more pieces of sandwich in your mouths. the plane boards quickly, everyone just like you and riri, rushing to get somewhere else for spring break. you sit once youâve past all the security and riri, being the sweet girlfriend she is, gives you the window seat. you smile at her, a silent thank you, as the plane begins to take off.

ririâs checked every bed, bathroom, and beyond once you guys arrive to make sure everything is clean and ready to be used. you had gone to the master bedroom and god, it was gorgeous; long wall sized windows against the side that opened to a gorgeous balcony right above a small pool downstairs. the bed itself was huge, you and riri so used to the twin xlâs MIT provided had you both geeked. youâre on the balcony, breathing in and sighing once you hear the all clear from riri downstairs.
âso after we get all unpacked you wanna head to the beach, relax a bit before the sun sets, yeah?â she says behind you and turn to her, soft smile on your lips. sheâs already changed, some shorts (god, look at her thighs) and a crop top, already changed for the warmer weather of south carolina. she smiles back at you when she sees you, âwhat?â her mouth quirking up to the sides, like she already knows and itâs likely she does.
you walk slowly to her, smiling and biting your lip, before you wrap your arms around her neck and pull her close, âthank you baby,â you whisper lowly and she gets the hint and smiles a bit harder too, leaning in with a, âyoure welcome, my love,â whispered back before your mouth is finally on hers.
it starts slow, both you and riri just happy to feel each other and finally having some time outside of school to be in each other presence. youâve already cut your phone off, riri almost begging you to once the plane lands and you do, agreeing you two should just spend some time together. sheâs rubbing up and down your back, lightly groping your ass and you sigh against her mouth, enjoying the foreplay.
you feel riri start to lead you both back inside, walking backwards as you follow, your tongue melting against hers. she whines a bit, pulling away, âall of our stuff is downstairs, shit,â and you sigh, âyou want me to get it?â and riri looks in your eyes, shaking her head, âno i can get it, you stay here and look pretty,â she says, all too close to your mouth, before she walks off, slapping your ass slightly earning a small yell of surprise from you.
you roll your eyes once sheâs downstairs and sought after the bed, sighing and laying down once you hit the plush covers. riri was right for making you turn off your phone, you decide, your brain was clear and you heart was full; now all you thought about was making love with your girlfriend over and over and over again.
when she finally comes back, she had her boxers on and the small black bag from your luggage full of your sex toys. you sit up, leaning all your weight in your forearms and lowering your eyes. riri smiles a bit and walks towards you, finally on top of you again, setting the bag on your side and rubbing up your thighs under your dress, kissing you deeply. you moan slightly, moving your head in tandem with hers and she moves your dress up to your stomach, reveling your already soaking underwear.
you sigh into her mouth and she pulls away with a drag of your lip, âwhat do you want, mami? can you ask me?â she whispers agains your lips, hands right before your clothed clit and you whine, your mind fogged, âgod, fuck me, riri, please, i need it,â you moan back against her and she smiles again, kissing you briefly before heading back to your neck, kissing you there and slowly taking off your underwear.
you whine and sigh, impatient, and riri grounds your thighs with her hands, âitâs alright baby, i got you.â and toss your head back once she finally adds some pressure to your clit, itâs cute but itâs not enough, âcmon riri, please⊠please, more, iâ i need itââ you whine back desperately and riri sits up and nods, a quick âyeah okay, baby,â and finally moves your thighs around so she can twist your underwear off and you moan once the chilled air hits your lips and riri practically licks her at the sight of you: dress pulled up and pussy wet and pulsing. you feel yourself heat up under her gaze and it makes you try to cover yourself, âcmon, baby, hurry..â you emphasize and riri nearly scoffs.
âwe got three weeks together baby, imma take my time with you, okay?â and she says it like she doesnât care if you object. you moan, frustrated, but you feel her kiss at your thighs and it makes you sigh out in relief to some degree. she finally gets to your pussy and you feel her breathe and your thighs twitch.
âyou have such a pretty pussy, mami, have i ever told you that? so fucking beautiful,â and you groan, closing your eyes at the praise and move your pussy closer to her mouth and riri laughs cruelly, ânot yet baby, let me look at you,â she whispers and she takes two fingers to pull your lips apart, your entrance pulsing lowly and you jump, sighing and whining. âso wet for me, love, fuck,â she whispers lowly, moving in and kissing your clit; you moan at the suddenly contact, legs shaking a bit under her hand.
riri moans against you, pulling away slightly, âand you always taste so fucking good for me, baby,â and you moan once her whole mouth nearly swallows your clit, riri sucking heavily against you now, and you buck, your thighs threatening to close around her head as you moan out.
âunghhhfffffuuccckkk, ri, baby, right there, right thereeeeâ!â you squirm against her, ririâs hands holding your legs apart as her mouth works on you, sucking gently and soothing over your thighs, a silent âgo ahead and let it out,â youâve come to realize. and you always do, cursing, moaning, yelling, whatever you can as ririâs tongue opens you up.
your orgasm approaches fastâ of course it does with all her teasingâ and you sigh, moans changing in pitch as you thrust up in her mouth, whining out, âiâm cumming, god fuck, iâm cumming, baby, please donât stopâ FUCK, fuck, iâm cummingâ!â and you feel riri nod against your clit. you yell out as you feel your orgasm trickle through your entire body, clit swelling and pulsing under her tongue as she eases you through it, hands soothing over your thighs as she continues to suck, gentler this time, until she hears you whine high pitched and overstimulated and riri pulls away, chin sticky and huffing.
you sigh once you see her, setting up in your elbows and coaxing her to come forward and riri does, climbing over your body and kissing her deeply, sighing into your mouth as you do too, tasting yourself on her lips. you pull her down completely, arms wrapped around her feeling all her weight on yours.
riri pulls away first, âi really wanna fuck you, baby,â and you giggle, spreading your legs a bit, âwell then go ahead,â you tease at her and she laughs too, moving back to where she was, sitting up and toying with your pussy slightly, fingering you slowly, trying to open you and you gasp, still reeling from your last orgasm and she soothes over your thigh, shushing you, âso good, baby, just take it okay?â and you nod, feeling her fingers move in and out of you curling up occasionally to hit your g-spot.
you moan, âiâm â haa, iâm ready baby, please, cmon, ri pleaseââ and riri nods, probably feeling more anxious than you and adjusts the strap against her boxers, taking her fingers out momentarily to grab the lube, lathering herself up and beginning to move against you. you sigh, ready and eager, and you feel her.
your eyes roll back and close as a low moan leaves you, her strap sliding inside you with ease and you feel your head toss back as riri comes forward, and she lets out her own, âfuck,â watching her enter you slowly, your pussy filling out as she reaches the hilt, her lower stomach right against yours, your clit brushing up against her boxers. you whine out once riri bottoms out, holding on her forearms and pulling her down for a kiss.
riri gives you no time to adjust after she feels you whine in her mouth and grind against her, she pulls out slowly and thrusts back in, the skin on skin contact echoing around the room. you disconnect your lips to moan, yelling out curses as she fucks into you. the strap on sheâs using you can tell is the newer one; just a bit bigger with rubbed edges to make you feel everything. youâve only used it maybe twice but, fuck, itâs becoming your favorite. you sigh out as riri leans down and attacks your neck, moving her hands against your breasts.
you gasp, âohhhh, right there baby, pleaseeee fuck me fuck me right thereâ!â riri finally changes her angle and fucks deep on your g-spot, thrusts becoming sloppy once she hears how close you are. ririâs dick was always able to drive you over the edge even when youâve just reached it. you toss your head back but riri says it before you can, still keeping her harsh pace, âgonna cum baby? yeah? ask me mami, ask me,â she grunts out and you claw at the sheets, pussy twitching and full of her dick.
âfuckâ haaaffffuccccckk, riri baby, ri please please, PLEASE ughhh let me cum please, iâm soâ iâm so closeâ!â and riri nods, your moans always driving her closer to her own orgasm, youâve discovered. you feel her thighs shake a bit against yours and you moan once she nods, adding some pressure on your clit, âcum for me mami, let me see it, go ahead,â you sigh out a âthank you,â mumbling praises and such as you feel your pussy squeeze around riri, pulsing and twitching as your head tosses back and you feel your orgasm string though you, your whole body glowing.
ririâs right behind you, clit rubbing against the softness of her boxers being paired with your moans enough to drive her over. she curses lowly, still thrusting some like sheâs trying to push her orgasm inside of you and the thought makes you twitch in excitement once your pussy finally calms down. riri sighs out and pulls out slowly, collecting her breath as you do the same. she gently falls next to you and you rub against her cheek with your hand, smiling. she smiles back at you, holding your hand in hers.
you close your eyes, slightly, sighing before you hear riri say, âone more?â and you gasp at her and shove her a bit, laughing and giggling, âsure, sure, cmon,â and sheâs smiling once more when you open your eyes and leans over to kiss you. ririâs infamous âone more?â usually meant all night.
you both maneuver in a way that results in you on top of riri, sliding down slowly on her dick and you both sigh, riri watching you intensely and holding your dress up so she can get the full view, âyouâre so pretty, baby,â she whispers kissing your knuckles. youâre holding on to her hands to ground yourself, body still quivering from your orgasm and you whine once your completely full again, the dildo rubbing against your walls.
riri thrusts up slightly, asking quietly, âyou okay?â and you nod your head, eyes still shut trying to adjust. she sits up properly and captures your mouth, holding on to your back and you wrap your arms around her. she kisses you deeply, slowly thrusting and moving inside you and you gasp lowly against her mouth.
itâs a slow pace, mostly just because you want to feel each other and riri keeps it up until you start to get impatient, rutting against her more aggressively to get some stimulation on your clit. you sigh out once she takes the hint and lays you both down, thrusting up into and still leaving your mouth connected. you moan, separating for a bit, âohhh, ri, love youââ you slut a bit, pushing back down on her in tandem with her thrusts. she whispers it back, dazed and sighing a bit, thrusts getting sloppier as both of your orgasms approached once more. âiâmâ unnnhhhh in cumming baby, i feel it, ohhh riâ fuck, fuckâ!â and you feel your orgasm ripple through you again, your brain buzzing lowly and your thighs flexing and twitching against hers. riri cums not a moment later, holding on to your back and moaning lowly in your chin, making you sigh and rub her arms as she pulses in her boxers.
you both fall over now, sighing and collecting yourselves. riri rubs all over your body and kisses your shoulders. you giggle, âi know you said you wanted go to the beach but i literally cannot move,â and she laughs behind you, âme neither, letâs go to bed,â and you laugh as she turns both of you over, slipping out of you and gathering all the toys together and putting them in the sink. you donât miss how her legs wobble a bit. you joke, âyou alright there?â
sheâs faced away from you but her middle finger comes up, âfuck you,â she jokes right back and you laugh a bit, fixing your dress and sitting up properly, âyou just did, babe, letâs get some rest please,â
and she comes back, different shirt on, still flicking you off. you sigh once she lays down, gathering you up in her arms, your dress now off leaving you in your undershirt. you sigh against her chest as she turns on the tv for some background noise, âi love you, you know that?â you whisper slightly and riri nods, âof course you do, i just got done fucking your brains out so yeah i hope you love me,â she jokes and you hit her chest lightly âoh whatever,â you say but youâre smiling, eyes shutting slightly as you relax in her arms. she whispers a soft, âgoodnight,â into your scalp and sleep washes over you, you too content to fight it anymore.

riri takes you on a shopping spree the next afternoon after some quick shower sex. it ends with you steaming and jelly legged and riri walks out wobbling a bit too and you both laugh. the shower itself was huge enough for you both and then some, and you both felt refreshed and relaxed once more.
you wear a simple one piece, the florals of the romper coloring your skin nicely. a gold set matches your dress, one riri had bought for you for your birthday. riri wears another crop top and a small skirt, hugging everything just right and you canât help but smack her ass once she walks by to get her hair clips. she slaps your hand away laughing out, âexactly why i never wear this shit,â but you know she likes the attention.
you both leave after a small quick breakfast, walking out in the sun and holding hands. youâre right on the boardwalk, thanks to ririâs haggling of her creation, and itâs between a museum, an aquarium, and some shopping centers. youâre already excited, phone still off and head still feeling clear, and you donât even have to ask riri to follow you into some stores.
you shop for a bit, trying things on with riri and making her try some things on with you. she leaves the boutique with a nice new suit and you a new romper like you donât already have 6, which is what riri says.
when youâre back on the boardwalk, you make simple conversation, holding bags and walking to the next boutique, âi think we should go shoe shopping next, yeah?â you suggest and riri perks up, her not-so-secret interest was shoes and she smiles a bit, the quirks of her mouth tilting, much like it does when sheâs shying up, âyeah, thatâs cool,â she plays it off but you smile anyways.
you smile a bit, really enjoying the moment untilâ
ây/n? holy shit is that really you?â
your stomach turns. it really couldnât be, thereâs no way. riri turns before you do, eyebrows down, making eye contact with a young girl, maybe a couple of years older than you, before turning you, âuh, who is that?â
you eyes feel wet, âgirl, you really not gon say hi to your sister?!â riri gapes at you and you turn around before she can say anything more, âcharmaine, hey girl!â you laugh out awkwardly and your sister smiles a bit harder, rings blinging in the sun and teeth nearly blinding you. she comes towards you and opens her arms, hugging her with your bags in hand.
âgirllll, itâs been so long!! where you been?â fuck, you wanted to leave, but you laugh away your tears as she pulls away to look at you. âoh yknow, still MIT, remember?â
charmaine smacks her lips, âoh yeah, i remember that, you thought you was all that getting into that school, huh? didnât tell nobody nothing!â you feel the heat in your stomach grow, you did tell them, you had told everyone and they acted like you were supposed to stay home and refused to help you and didnât bat an eye when your mama kicked you out andâ âyeah, i guess i just wanted to keep it to myself,â you mutter and charmaine laughs again, pulling out her phone.
ririâs watching you intensely, mostly because she knows youâre lying, sheâs heard this story beforeâ you wanted so badly for your family to be proud of you, and when the time came for affirmative action and you got into MIT early they had cast you out like they couldnât fathom you leaving let alone so far away.
âand who is this? mama was talking about you being with somebody, but i ainât know she meant a girl,â charmaine says the last part like it physically pains her to get it out, and you feel it all over again, everything you wanted to avoid, your memories flood backâ thanksgiving, your senior year, charmaine telling you to suck it up and stop crying when your mama would yell and embarrass you every yearâ
âyeah, well, fuck you too,â riri mumbles only for you to hear, folding her arms. âmy name is riri, and i think thatâs our que to leave,â and she offers her hand to you and you stiffen, ready to go but hear charmaineâs voice, âoh my god, youâre really a dyke? like for real, holy shit no wonder you never call anybody,â charmaine doesnât even pay attention to what riri had even said and you chuckle eyes still wet and heart still beating and she scoffs, âgirl if you gon be smart be smart to my face, stop saying shit under your breath,â
âwhy are you here, charmaine?â you finally ask, looking up, tears spilling and you catch riri look at you for a second but your sister doesnât miss a beat, âgirl itâs spring break, youâre not the only one in school, yknow. i know you think you hot shit but i got classes and all that bullshit too,â and sheâs already getting offensive, much like she always was, youâd ask a simple question and sheâd treat it like an interrogation.
âokay, youâre right; it is spring break. but youâre here. the beach, of all places. and you hate the beach, remember? for my birthday all i wanted was to go to the beach and we left four days early because mama believed you when you lied about being allergic to fucking sand,â your voice is raising now, all the bottled feelings coming up in your throat and you feel riri put her hand in your back but it doesnât settle you, âyeah, well that was forever agoââ
you cut her off, âand yet here you are, faux sand allergy and all, the day after i havenât returned any of mamas calls, a week after you had texted me that you was really disappointed in the way i was acting, right? so, you, my sister who i havent seen in nearly five years with a hatred of the beach so big she ruined my birthday, are here, on the fucking beach. so i ask, why?â
charmaine opens her mouth to speak but you canât stop whatever train your on, âwhy are you here when you told me that no one would ever love me? when mama kicked me out five years ago and you threw my stuff out with her? why are you here when last year you told me you were âproud to be an only childâ? why the fuck are you here when iâm finally fucking happy and forgetting about the fucking shitty family i came from?!â you finally yell, a couple of onlookers walking by and staring but you donât care, all the shyness you had felt are replaced by white hot rage, the feeling deep inside your stomach like a pit thatâs been sat for too long.
charmaine sighs a bit, clearly not going to give you the answer you were looking for, and says, âmama was worried,â you laugh, a deep, cruel laugh that even shocks you a bit. âyeah if she was so fucking worried, she wouldnât have kicked me out two fucking months before i started classes.â you spit out harshly and sheâs about to retort but you remember what riri had told you, and get it out before she can stop you, âtell mama, if she calls me again, iâm calling the police for harassment. and if she ever sends you to follow me again, iâm reporting you both for stalking,â
you hear riri stifle a bit of a laugh, and charmaine is about to speak, but youre turning away before she can, picking up some of the bags your dropped and letting out a deep breath, riri coming to your side immediately. âare you okay?â she whispers as you both walk away and you feel everything you had been holding back in your throat once again, wet, hot tears burn at your eyes and you shake your head âno,â you whisper out and she nods, holding you close and walking away faster, trying to find a bench for something for you to sit on.
your mind is racing, heart still beating out of your chest and once your sat you sigh and riri stands up, wrapping her arms around your head and you rest your face in her stomach, sobbing quietly. you can hear riri, sheâs whispering everything you need to hear, much like she always does, and it has you smiling despite your face wet and eyes still leaking. you were just happy to be alone with her again.
she pulls you back after a second, making you look into her eyes and she smiles, âyou cried all your makeup off, oh no,â she says and you laugh a bit, âyeah and i got it all over your crop top, so, weâre even,â you say, sighing and wiping your face. riri chuckles again and sits next you, both of you facing the river banks outstretched on top of the sunset.
riri breaks the silent moment, âyou okay?â she whispers once again, and you sigh, leaning back and settling into her shoulder, âyeah, iâm okay. iâm sorry i never told you about her,â you whisper the last part.
riri scoffs a bit, âi totally get why you didnât, she fucking sucks,â and you laugh a bit again, sniffling some. riri speaks again, âno but seriously. you donât have to tell me about your family if you donât want to. every detail and like, who wronged you how, if you want me to know iâm here to listen but if you wanna forget and start over? iâm here for that too,â she whispers the last part, a sweet secret she wants you and you alone to know. you smile, face heating, even at your most honest, heartfelt moments riri could still make you shy up and blush like a little girl.
you sigh again, âi hate that she was here, but⊠i donât want to talk about it anymore. i just wanna spend the rest of my break with you,â you say looking at her and she looks at you again, tilting your head with her fingers, leaning in, âme too,â she whispers back, closing the space between you.

riri fucks you deep and slow that night. she runs you a bath and you wear a silk nightgown to bed just to pull it over and nearly devour you like she hasnât had you before. and you know whyâ riri takes the ability to put your mind on something else incredibly seriously like itâs her second job. and you love her for it.
âunnmmfffuckkkkâ!â youâre gasping out, the third orgasm youâve had racking through you as her left hand works on your clit and she fucks you from behind, a position youâd never admit to her was your favorite. she nods, hearing you completely fall apart, kissing your shoulder blades as you moan out, sighing when you feel your pussy squirt out a bit, legs clamping and thighs flexing. you sign once itâs done and done, falling on your forearms and gasping to catch your breath. she leans down against you totally now, kissing you all over.
she whispers against your skin, âyou wanna go again?â and sigh and nod, and riri pulls out, a slick wet noise escaping you and she taps your thighs asking you to turn over. you sigh, moving on your back and sheâs on top of you once more, capturing your mouth and rubbing over your breasts and your stomach. you feel her start to slide against you, the strap already covered in your cum and it makes you moan against her mouth.
she finally pushes inside again, startling you a bit and you whimper, feeling her again. riri moves away from your mouth, kissing your cheeks and ears as her thrusts start, whispering lowly in your ear, âi love you, baby,â and it makes your body nearly glow, you sigh out and claw at her back, the whisper in her voice enough to be stimulating. âriri, fuckâ haaaaââ
and riri keeps talking, strap kissing your g-spot as her thrust grow faster and harsher, âyouâre so perfect, mami, you know that? so good for me, iâm so happy youâre mine, my love,â and you can hear it all over your entire body it seems, your head is spinning and your legs feel locked under hers but your orgasm is approaching and you can feel it, whimpering and tossing your head back, claws deep into ririâs back, âiâmâ fuck, riri, iâm cumming, i feel it, ohhh iâm cummingâ! please, please baby,â!â and you donât know what youâre begging for, her pace doesnât slow and she doesnât relent, kissing you and holding you open and your orgasm pulls through your body, your pussy clenching around her dick and your clit twitching once more, you moan unabashedly, tears spilling a bit as riri kisses and praises you through it.
you buck against her once youâre done, sighing as ririâs assault finally stops. she pulls out and lays next to you, sighing as you catch your breath again. you laugh a bit once youâre back to earth, âiâm sorry i know you wanted to go look at shoes, but i cannot move again,â you laugh out and she smiles and waves you off, âweâll go tomorrow yeah? got three whole weeks remember?â
and you smile, three weeks and a lot more, you think and reply, âyeah, we do,â too happy beyond your own comprehension.

OMG??? I havenât looked at this story in a while to see how it was doing, AND I CAME BACK TO THIS??
i love u guys so much wtf this is like crazy to think about đđ«¶đŸ
this got it bro⊠iâm dead crying no funny shit
lift me up || shuri x black! reader

summary: in which namorâs strike against wakanda threatens to steal the last remaining peace of princess shuriâs heart ( or â in which queen ramonda isnât the only causality of the water bombs tossed into the palace â and shuriâs not ready to let you go )
warnings; MAJOR ANGST , you drown trying to save the queen of your country. shuri prays to the ancestors to save you. you DIE. shuri goes the hell off, thereâs some mention of suicidal thoughts & an attempt ( ryan cooglerâs fault ) fluff at the end.
timeline ; takes place during WAKANDA FOREVER
pairing; warrior ! reader x princess shuri
inspired by; so iâm mourning my grandfather still, itâs something that weighs on me heavily especially this time of year. he died and none of us really knew what killed him. the day he passed away i felt like shit. i prayed for him to come back and he didnât, and i grew angry with the God i believe in. i understood shuriâs feelings so vividly when watching the movie, because i had experienced them. my grandpa was like my dad, and i hated everyone because he was gone. LIFT ME UP by rihanna has stayed on repeat since it released and hopefully in the midst of this pretty sad peace, there can be some release for me. and anyone else dealing with grief they donât get.

translations; Ihlabathi lam, zama ukuba nengqiqo. my world, try to be reasonable. IQhawe eliNcinci? little hero. Intliziyo yam. my heart.

The tribal council room was not a place you found yourself in often. But today, you made an exception. Riri was at the foot of the throne, eyes glued to the Queen as Ayo kept watch. âWhat do you think of Wakanda?â Ramonda asks and your eyes flit to Riri to hear her answer. You didnât know much about the scientist, Shuri had forbade you from joining the mission with her and Okoye. It wasnât until Okoye returned without her that you understood why. A threat had been made on your country, a threat by a man of undeniable power and might.
âI thought an underwater city would take the cake, but the stories donât do this place justice.â Riri responds as she looks around. Youâre overflowing with pride at her answer, Wakanda would always be the most beautiful place to you. âItâs great, but Iâd really like to go home.â Riri admits and you frown. You understood her plight, sheâd been taken against her will, forced into the middle of a war all because she was too smart for her own good. âYouâll need to be patient, for your own safety.â Ayo forewarns. Queen Ramonda nods her head in agreement.
âWeâll take care of the trouble in Boston. Youâll be cleared of any involvement. When it is safe for you to return, your life will be waiting for you.â Ramonda explains. âCan I at least call my mom?â Riri pleads. âShe is safe. At work. In Chicago.â Ramonda replies, and itâs clear sheâs not changing her mind on the matter. âWe have Wakandans keeping watch on her.â Ayo adds after a beat. âWhy? She doesnât know anything.â Riri grows defensive. âYes, and we would like to keep it that way for now.â the Queen begins.Â
Riri doesnât look impressed.
âI know you have been through a lot. Even before the abduction. We will make sure nothing happens to your mother, and you will be safe here.â she promises. Riri nods, but she looks unsure. Your standing on the opposite side of the room, taking in the scene, Riri looks like a fish out of water, and she seems to know that. She seeks solace with you, leaving the new General and the monarch behind. âSo youâre her.â itâs the first words Ririâs spoken directly to you, and they force you to raise a sharp eyebrow. âExcuse me?â you say in surprise.
âShuriâs old lady.â Riri elaborates, and that only fuels your confusion. âOld lady?â you repeat crossly, watching as Riri chuckles awkwardly. âItâs just a thing we say.â she explains. When she says âWeâ you know sheâs referring to the lost tribe. âYou her girlfriend.â she corrects herself and you relax. âYeah, thatâs me.â youâre scrutinizing her closely, she had to be something special for Shuri to risk her life to save her. âAnd youâre her scientist.â you say and she bristles. âNah, it ainât like that. I ainât one of those creepinâ broads.â she says and you smile.
âBut you do like her, no?â you press and Ririâs entire demeanor changes, almost like sheâs been caught red handed. âWhat?â she asks and youâre not quite understanding her sudden bashfulness. According to what the Queen had relayed to you regarding Riri, she was confident, suave. Not clumsy and clueless. âWe donât really know each other.â she says and you laugh good naturedly. âYou donât have to be so nervous. Shuri is very charming, Iâd be more surprised if you werenât into her.â you relax your shoulders a little.
âI ainât trying to move in on your girl or nothing.â she explains and you wave her off. âIâm not worried.â and itâs true, you knew how much Shuri cared about you. It didnât matter how fond of Riri she was, your position was secured in Shuriâs heart. And that was what mattered most. âYou really tight with the Queen, huh?â she asks. âNaturally.â you mumble. âWhen my mother passed, I didnât have many people to turn to. Queen Ramonda took me in, I will always be indebted to the Royal Family. She is like a second mother to me.â you look over again.Â
âAnd what does she think about you and Shuri?â Riri asks and you smile. âI think sheâd been plotting on us from the day I stumbled into this place. She has expectations that I will be marrying her daughter one day.â you say with a laugh. âOf course, I wonât be marrying anyone until Iâm well settled in my own life. Queen Mother will just have to wait a few years before she tries to throw us some dream wedding.â and Ririâs smile only grows. âShe talked about you. When we were down there. Shuri, I mean.â Riri explains and you blink.Â
âReally?â your eyebrows shoot up and Riri thinks you look cute all confused. âShe really cares about you.â Riri explains and your heart swells a little in your chest. âIâm lucky.â you admit. âI noticed your spear.â she points to the weapon. âAre you a Dora?â she asks and you resist the urge to curl your nose up. You motion to your head full of hair. âDo I look like a Dora?â you ask and Riri pokes her lips out. âYou donât want me to answer that.â she tells you with a hearty laugh as you roll your eyes. âI am the Princessâ personal guard. Sheâs not into the whole Dora Milaje thing.â you explain as Riri nods slowly.Â
âBut sheâs into you so it works out great. You guard her heart and her body.â Riri elicits a loud cackle from you and itâs great, forgetting the bad stuff that had been in full effect for the last few days. âHow long have you guys been a- been a thing?â she asks and while most people would find her line of questioning a little forward, you donât mind. âShuriâs been my girlfriend since we were kids.â you explain with a laugh. âWe were primary school girlfriends.â you add as Ri smiles.
âWe made things more serious when she turned sixteen, weâve been together ever since.â Riri does the math in her head. Had âThe Blipâ never happened, Shuri wouldâve been 27, while youâd be 28, but because youâd lost five years you didnât look it. You were only 23, while Shuri was 22. That was almost five years of your lives. âOh, yâall in it foreal?â Riri asks and you smile fondly. âYeah, I guess you can say that.â you agree as you nod. âThatâs dope.â Riri mumbles.Â
You move to reply, but find your eyes back on the Queen. The river tribe Elder enters with Naval officers on his heels. âShit.â you mutter under your breath, panic spreading through you like wildfire. âMy Queen, weâve lost contact with the river shield blockade.â the Elder explains and your panic is felt all the way in your bones.Â
Shit was about to go down.
âLost contact?â Queen Ramonda repeats in disbelief. You nod for Riri to follow you, and like the strong and proud warrior youâd been trained to be, you stalk towards the mother of your nation, face devoid of all emotion. It was better that way. âYes, and there are reports of flooding throughout the city.â the Elder explains. âA surprise attack?â you speak up, and Riri shakes her head. âThat wonât no surprise. Shuri said something like this would happen.â she says and you curse again. âWhat do you suppose I do, IQhawe eliNcinci?â you freeze.
Ramondaâs eyes are directed towards you. Sheâd been calling you IQhawe eliNcinci, her little hero since you were a small child. Your mother was the General that came before Okoye, youâd spent many days wreaking havoc around the palace as a young girl, pretending you were a Dora too, using sticks and other objects as a stand-in for the shield you one day wished to carry. Ramonda had always found you endearing, sheâd always treated you special. But to ask you to decide the fate of what she did with her country? It was insane.
âMe?â you squawk and she nods her head, stone serious. âYes.â she says and you think to yourself. You think like a warrior, like a Wakandan. Like a L/N. âWe should evacuate.â you say suddenly. âTreat this like any other threat. Um- initiate every emergency response protocol.â you list and Ramonda is listening earnestly. âUm, Uh⊠the Dora. Send them out and have them aid the military in the ground fight. We do not know the extent of their power, we need strong fighters in the forefront.â you say and Ramonda nods in agreement.
âYou heard her.â and itâs like clockwork the way they dive into action. âPhambili!â Ayo exclaims as they leave, until only Riri, Ramonda, and you remain. âYou spoke my thoughts exactly.â the Queen tells you and your confusion is palpable. âNo disrespect, Mama.â and she smiles at the endearing name. â But, why did you have me answer?â you ask and she scrutinizes you. âBecause I believe you and my daughter will be together for a long time and some day I wonât be here to make the hard decisions.â she begins and you cut her off.Â
âDonât speak like that. You will be fine.â you insist. âThere is no need to try and prepare us for a world after youâre gone, because youâre still here.â you tell her. âAnd you will be for a while. I swear it on my life.â you say, refusing to hear anymore. You know what sheâs aiming for. Sheâs scared Namor could be what takes her out, scared that Shuri would be all alone, overwhelmed and left up the shore without a paddle. So she was trying, albeit, by throwing you into the deep end, she was trying to prepare you to be a leader.Â
But you didnât want to think about that. Ramonda sighs, but concedes.
âSee if you can get in contact with the princess.â she says, and that you can do. You trigger your Kimoyo Beads instantly, and Shuriâs face makes some of your tension melt away. âSthandwa.â you exhale as Shuri takes in your panicked expression. âWhere are you?â you demand. âIâm in the lab, but Iâm headed towards the city.â she explains and youâre already shaking your head. âNo, no, no. Shuri, no!â you exclaim. âShuri stand down. That is an order.â Ramonda adds. âI am with Aneka, they will need air support.â Shuri argues.
âAneka, do not let her leave the lab.â Ramonda warns. Shuri begins to make crackling noises with her mouth, and you tense. âShuri!â you exclaim. âWhatâs that? Intliziyo yam, I canât hear you.â she continues her performance. âIhlabathi lam, zama ukuba nengqiqo.â you beg, but itâs no use. âYouâre breaking up. I love you both. Bye.â and then the call ends. Shuri Udaku has just hung up on her mother and her girlfriend. You squeeze your hand up into a fist as you scoff. âWhat the hell is she thinking?â you exclaim in a panic.Â
âY/N, you gotta calm down.â Riri explains and you shake your head. âThey already took her once.â you remind her. âSheâs being irresponsible.â you add as you head for the edge of the throne room. Your eyes are examining the damage below, and itâs devastating. âBast, what have we done to deserve this?â you question, and Ramondaâs lips quirk down into a deep frown. Riri follows your path, stopping just beside you. âWe canât just sit here and do nothing.â she says and you nod your head. âMy Queen, do you have any suggestions?â you ask.Â
Ramonda thinks your query over before she nods. âYes.â she triggers her Kimoyo beads. âGriot.â she calls for Shuriâs AI. âYes, Queen?â he speaks. âGrant me access to the emergency response fleet.â she instructs and you snap your fingers in understanding. âRight away, Queen.â Griot proceeds. Ramonda steps up onto the mullion, and you follow after her. A holographic map of the city appears in front of you both. You both begin to help pilot the scarab beetles as Riri watches, eyes and brain moving a mile a minute. âCan I help?â she asks.
âYes, come quickly!â Ramonda ushers her forward, passing off a pair of Kimoyo Beads as the three of you fall into a smooth rhythm. Two hydro bombs explode in the distance, and the damage is jarring. A deluge of water from the explosions rushes through the city. The double explosion causes water to torrent in through the window. The flooding has you panicking. How many casualties? How many of her friends, her peers, her family were out there in harms way? âAyo, scramble air support to root out our attackers from above.â Ramonda instructs.
âYes, my Queen.â Is Ayoâs response.
The trio continue to remote pilot the scarab beetles. âThere are civilians in the North Triangle that are in need of evacuation, Queen.â Griot explains. âIâm on it.â Riri explains. âThereâs too many of them.â you dare to utter it. âNone of that matters, right now.â Ramonda explains firmly. âI need to know if youâre with me?â she asks as you blink away your panic. âOf course.â you respond. âWe will survive this.â she says and youâre unsure if she means you both specifically or Wakanda as a nation. âIs that Shuri?â Riri speaks, and your on high alert.
Ririâs Sunbird is in the process of chasing after Namor himself. Heâs faster than he looks, dodging every shot they try to take. Namor suddenly darts up, driving his spear through the cockpit of the aircraft windshield. Directly into the control panel. Shuri and Aneka lose control as the system malfunctions and crashes down into the moat. âShit, heâs quick.â Riri mutters. âOkoye. Shuriâs aircraft has been shot down. Can you get to her?â Ramonda questions. âYes, my Queen.â she responds a second later, and your hands are shaking uncontrollably.
Youâre quietly muttering to yourself, cursing Shuri for being stubborn. Cursing Namor and his people for doing this to you. Cursing Bast for allowing this to happen with no justice. Ramonda looks away from the panel sheâs controlling to look at you. Youâre still hard at work piloting scarab beetles to dry ground, but youâre crying. Blinking harshly every few seconds to push them away. Namor flies to the Tribal Council windows, and stares at the three of you. You immediately find that you hate him. Hate him for hurting Shuri and your country.
His glare is terrifying as he looks to Riri, and you move to push her behind you, blocking his sight of her as Ramonda does the same to you. âStand behind me, intomba.â she instructs, and you listen. Hand holding onto Ririâs arm tightly. âItâll be okay.â you ensure, and Ririâs terrified, holding onto you, nails digging into your skin. It hurts, but you ignore it. âWeâre gonna be okay.â you say firmly. Namor cocks his spear and swings it, slamming it down onto the windows. You donât even blink, this is what your whole life had led to. You were a warrior, a protector.
The glass spider cracks, but holds. âFinish.â you instruct to Riri, head nodding to the holographic screen. She nods loosely, scurrying back into place. âOne minute until the last scarab beetle is to safety.â Griot explains. âExcellent.â you mutter. âYouâre doing so good, Riri.â you encourage, as you turn to the Queen. âWeâre almost out of this.â you say and she squeezes your shoulder but says nothing. Namor smiles at Ramonda through the window, then drops below. âShit.â you curse again, and you move to eye out where heâs gone.
Ramonda turns to you and Riri with panicked eyes. âTake the child and go!â she demands as you freeze up. âWait what? And leave you here?â Riri voices your thoughts. âRun!â she pleads and you feel panic and bile in your throat. âMama.â you start, already shaking your head âYou know I canât do that. Shuri would never forgive me. I would never forgive me.â you tell her and sheâs looking between you and the glass. âYou have to take the child, and go. That is an order, from your Queen.â she snaps. You know, sheâs just trying to protect you.Â
âIâm not leaving without you. If we all go, we can make it. The longer we sit here fighting over it, the more trouble itâll be.â you remind her. âY/N, we do not have time for this. I am your Queen and you will do as I say, now! Run!â and she shoves you, hard. You stumble down the steps, right into Ririâs awaiting arms, she holds you by the wrist, tugging you with her, but youâre shaking your head all the while. âMama, stop this!â you exclaim. Before you can call out for her again, Namor emerges holding three hydro bombs in his right hand.Â
âCH'A TOH AJ TEPAL!âÂ
You call out for the Queen again, but youâre not sure if anyone hears. Namor hurls the hydrobombs at the Tribal Council windows. They decompress into water just before reaching the windows and they crash against the glass. It shatters instantly, the room flooding with water rapidly. You, Ramonda, and Riri are sent hurtling down in a rush of water, glass, and furniture. Your bodies begin to sink down a level, now on par with the Timbuktu structure. Your holding your breath, allowing your eyes to adjust to the sting of the water.
Youâre frantic, but careful not to panic. You look up to the platform, itâs a bit of a swim for anyone. You could make it, you know you can. You spot the queen, sheâs unconscious and youâre immediately swimming for her. She jolts back to consciousness, relief washing over you in waves. You move to help her and she shoots you a scalding glance. She points to Riri and you falter. She does it again. Itâs like you can hear her in your head. âSave her now.â you donât want to, but you turn away from the Queen, eyes to the right of you instantly.
Riri is lifeless. Your heart lurches and you swim towards her. Your thoughts are loud. Youâre okay, Riri. Weâre gonna get you home. Get you back to Chicago, back to your mama. You use your strength to swim towards the top, pushing on her body until she was out of the hole, laying on her back in the center of the room. You take in a gulp of air before you dive back down, searching frantically for the Queen. If your slothiness cost you the Queenâs life, youâd never forgive yourself. You spot her soon enough, and you rush for her.
You grab hold of her hand, and you hate that youâre feeling lightheaded. âMama, if you can hear me, youâre gonna be okay. Iâm gonna get you out of here, okay?â your thoughts are ringing, and when she looks at you fondly, youâre certain theyâve translated over. She helps you lug her towards the top. Youâre an excellent swimmer, but this second trip seems to be all the more damaging. The hole seems to grow farther and farther the more you swim. Ramonda is jerking on your arm, encouraging you not to give up as you keep going.Â
Once youâve reached it, you push the Queen out of the hole, just as your run out of oxygen. Sheâs out, thatâs all that matters to you. The Queen has been saved. Even when water fills your lungs and the burn makes your entire body feel like itâs lit on fire, youâre okay, because the Queen is alive, Riri is alive. Theyâre safe. You try to will your eyes open, but the heavier they grow, the less you want to fight it. Your eyes close and you begin to sink, finding yourself further and further in the depths of the water. Your last thought before it all goes dark is of Shuri.
forgive me.

When Okoye enters the Tribal Council Room followed by Nakia, sheâs on the verge of collapsing. Riri is laying on the platform and Queen Ramonda floating in the water, face-down, as Namor floats outside the broken glass. Okoye races to pull Ramonda out as Nakia turns Riri over onto her back to check her vitals. âYou did this!â Namor exclaims. A beat passes. âI came with only a few warriors.â Namor continues his lecture. Okoye and Nakia use their kimoyo beads to try and resuscitate Riri and the Queen. Shuri and Aneka enter, and Okoye turns.
âKeep her back!â Okoye exclaims. âMother!â Shuri shouts, and then her eyes are on Riri. Theyâre the only two there and she feels a fire lighting up inside her. âY/N!â she shouts and Nakia and Okoye both freeze in place. How had they forgotten. How had they forgotten you. âWhere is she?â Shuri demands. âY/N/N?â she moves to enter the room further, only for Aneka to grab her. Shuriâs struggling in her hold. âY/N!â she shrieks. âWhere is she? Where is Y/N/N. Ihlabathi lam, intliziyo yam? Uye phi?â she wails, to no avail.
âThere!â Nakiaâs eyes land on a floating hand. âDo something!â Shuriâs thrashing against Aneka. Three Dora goes to retrieve your body from the water as Okoye does chest compressions on Ramonda, fearing itâs already too late. Your body is pulled from the water and youâre laid on your back. You already look so lifeless, Shuri can feel her heart concaving. Every bone in her body feels like itâs been snapped in half, every breath feels like a stab to the stomach. Everything hurts, worse than sheâs ever experienced, worse than sheâs ever imagined before.
Seeing you, seeing her mother, identically incapacitated, frail, and weak. Itâs too much to take. âBury your dead, mourn your losses.â Namor taunts. âYouâre the Queen now.â he adds. âIn one weekâs time, I will return with my entire army.â Namor continues. âLet me go!â Shuri demands. âMama!â she sobs. âY/N/N!â she hasnât cried this hard in so long, itâs enough to suffocate her fully. Ramonda remains unresponsive, MâBaku, and Aneka rushing in after. âAnd you will either join us against the surface world, or we will wash Wakanda from the face of the planet.â Namor turns and dives into the waterway surrounding the building.
As he hits the water Riri jolts awake, coughing up water. Ramonda doesnât. âLet me go!â Shuri exclaims again. âCome on, my Queen. Wake up!â Okoye whispers. Nakia moves to check the Queenâs vitals as Okoye continues to try to revive Ramonda, her eyes welling with tears, but sheâs gone. âSheâs gone.â Nakia mumbles and itâs like a dam breaks in Shuri. Sheâs fallen to her knees by now, the tears are never ending. You havenât responded to any of the shocks from the Kimoyo Beads. âThere is no telling how long she was under.â
Nakiaâs voice causes Shuriâs body to go rigid. Eyes like slits as she turns to her. âWe have no way of knowing if her body has already succumb to-â Shuri cuts her off instantly. âThen keep trying until you figure it out!â she exclaims. âWake her up!â she demands, and Nakia swallows thickly. This would be the ultimate blow, losing both her mother, and the love of her life all at once. Shuri might not ever recover. She hears the Kimoyo Beads of the Doraâs in front of you revving up. She hears the âclearâ in her head as they try to shock you back to life, but thereâs no sign youâre even still here.Â
âPlease, please, please.â she says under her breath, âI canât take anymore.â Anekaâs still holding her, cradling her like a baby. âWake her up, wake her up!â she shouts, and the anger is ever clear in her tone. âPlease!â theyâre not sure who sheâs begging, but they continue their work. âYou owe me.â she mutters, and she hopes that Bast, wherever the fucker was, hears her. âYou owe me this. Youâve taken everything else. You owe me!â she exclaims. Aneka is silently cooing, rocking them both back and forth as Shuri grows angrier and angrier.
âYou owe me!â she exclaims, and she doesnât care how loud she must sound. âCheck her vitals!â she can only hear bits and pieces of the conversation, but theyâre all surrounding you. She wants to get up, she wants to be the one to check, she wants you to feel her, know that sheâs there. She wants you to know that itâs okay for you to wake up. That sheâll be there to catch you. âPlease.â she whispers again, and her vision is blurred. âBuyela kum sithandwa sam. Ndicela ungandishiyi ndedwa apha.â she whispers. âHeartbeat detected.âÂ
Itâs Griotâs voice thatâs a saving grace. âKeep trying!â Aneka exclaims, and they listen to her. Now itâs a race for time. The first shock, makes your back arch off the ground, slamming back down. The second one sounds like it hurts, but Shuriâs not sure if thatâs because sheâs in pain. âCome on, usana.â Shuri whispers, nails digging into the pads of her hands. âVuka sithandwa sam. Ndicela uvuke.â she begs. The third shock has your vitals spiking, and they can all finally hear the quiet thrum thrum of your faint heartbeat.
The fourth one falls short, and theyâre ready to throw in the towel. âJust one more.â she pleads, and all eyes snap to her. âPlease.â she begs, and Nakia and Okoye share a glance. âPlease.â she repeats, and itâs silent. Thereâs a moment of nothing, and then the shock rings out loud and clear across the room. Water comes flying out of your mouth, exploding like a dam as you upchucked all over the floor. Shuriâs yearning to run to you, but youâre not allowed. Because despite the water being removed from your lungs, you havenât opened your eyes.
Youâre still unresponsive.
Namor had still won.

When you woke up, you werenât sure what to expect. Youâd given your life for your country, you had resolved yourself to death. You expected to see something along the lines of what TâChalla had witnessed when heâd been greeted by his father. âIntombazana yakho.â you whirl around, eyes landing on a face you hadnât seen since you were a child. âMama.â you say as your eyes adjust to it all. âWhat are you doing here?â she demands, head shaking.Â
âItâs too soon, itâs too early.â she exclaims. âItâs okay, mama. I chose this. I chose to give my life for Wakanda. Iâm okay with this.â you try to explain frantically. âBut what about Shuri?â she asks and you freeze. Shuri, how had she slipped your mind. Shuri, the love of your life. Your sun, stars, and moon. âShuri.â you breathe her name out, chest tightening instantly. âOh, my love, how could I leave you.â you say, and you wonder if you can cry in this place. If you can feel at all.
âItâs too soon.â her voice is like a whisper, and sheâs suddenly gone. âMama!â you exclaim in panic. âMother, where are you?!â you shout. You get no response, instead youâre met with the sight of Shuri. Although, youâre unsure how youâre seeing her. Sheâs making her way towards the river holding a large weight in her hand. Your surrounded by thick forestation, but it slides right through you like youâre not really there. Nakia and Okoye emerge from the forest behind Shuri, and you wonder if any of them notice you. Your guess is no.
âShuri.â Okoye exclaims. âGo away.â Shuri warns. Her feet have hit the water, the weight armed and ready in her hands. âWait.â you mutter, and itâs all clicking. âShuri.â youâre rushing towards her, but the closer you get, the farther she appears. Only unlike when you were in the water, you donât think itâs an illusion this time. âShuri no.â Okoye pleads. She takes a step towards Shuri, who lifts her arm revealing her gauntlet, locked and loaded. She aims it right at Okoyeâs head. She was on a suicide mission, and the thought made you sick.
âLeave me alone.â Shuri demands. âShuri, donât do this.â Nakia begs. âShut up, spy. Leave, like you always do.â she spits venomously. âNot without you. Shuri you have so much to live for.â Nakia tries. âNo I donât! Everyone I love is gone. All of them. I have nothing left.â Shuri wails. âYou have us.â Okoye tries to reason. âWhat am I to you? A job you are no good at.â she jabs. âYou were so wrapped up in other things you let her sit in the water.â she reminds them. It takes a moment for you to realize sheâs talking about you.
âHad you paid better attention, sheâd be here. Instead, sheâs a vegetable. Sheâs gone, and itâs your fault.â she cries even harder. âShuri IâŠâ Okoyeâs voice cuts off. âYou swore to lay down your life to protect my family⊠all of my family⊠but they are gone and youâre still here.â Shuri says. âIf you had any honor left, you would not show your face.â she sneers. This lands on Okoye. Okoye turns away and starts to leave, Nakia tries to grab her but Okoye pulls away and heads back off into the forest. Shuri then turns her attention to Nakia.
You find yourself stuck in the same spot, eyes glossing over at this version of Shuri. âAnd you⊠you swore yourself to my brother then ran off when we needed you most.â Shuri had talked your head off many times about her beef with Nakia, you understood her feelings, but they never shouldâve come out like this. âYou are right. But Shuri you canât do this. What would your mother want of you? She lived her life for you.â Nakia speaks. âAnd what of, Y/N. By some miracle she is granted new life and returns to a place you no longer are.â she says.
âHow would she feel knowing you gave up your life?â she asks. âIt hurts too much. I canât bear it.â Shuri exclaims, and she claws at her chest. âYou are strong. You have your father in you. You brother in you. Your mother.â Nakia says. âY/N is with you. She has fight left in her, yet.â she adds. âThen why canât I feel them? Why canât I hear them? I want to hold them. Feel their warmth. I want to tell my mother how much she meant to me. I prayed to Bast after TâChalla died, I asked him to take me before my mother. I let the prayer comfort me. I let myself believe the lies.â she explains and your heart is tearing in two.
âY/N, she was my everything. I wanted to marry her one day, spend the rest of my life explaining how much I love her. I was supposed to protect her.â Shuri exclaims. âY/N made an oath to lay her life down for her country, and that is what she did.â Nakia exclaims. âNo.â Shuri shakes her head rapidly. âI donât care about that warrior oath!â she spits on the ground as she says this. âShe made an oath to me. A promise.â she pokes at her chest. âAnd your God knew it.â she scoffs. âI prayed to Bast every night for Y/N. How dare she take her away.â she hiccups.
âHow dare she take them all away from me. And yet, Iâm expected to bow and honor her? What honor does she deserve but a quick death for taking what is rightfully mine?â Shuri demands. âDonât say that, Shuri.â Nakia warns. âShe didnât do this to hurt you. You have to live. Itâs what your mother wanted. She told me as much. Itâs what your brother wanted. We need you. Wakanda needs you. The word needs you.â Nakia says. Shuri lowers the gauntlet. Nakia rushes to her and embraces her. But Shuri isnât sure itâs enough. Youâre on your knees by now.
Your headâs so stuffy that everything hurts. Tears spill like raindrops from your eyes, and you want to leave this space of limbo. âUsana, Iâm here. I havenât left you, Iâm right here!â you try, but itâs no use. Youâre too far gone for her to hear.

âWe buried mother today.â Shuriâs at your bedside, you donât look quite as frail as you did, fresh out of water. But youâre still not awake, which means something sheâs doing isnât good enough. She examines you closely, hears the quiet humming of all the wires and cables stuck in you. âThey say if you do not improve soon, they will have to pull the plug.â she spits the phrase out venomously. âThey said, we cannot afford to watch after you with Namor on the lam.â she drags a hand over her face. Sheâs crying again.Â
âNdicinga ukuba yinkunkuma leyo.â she says as she reaches for your hand, She runs her thumb over your knuckles, squeezing too tight for comfort. âBecause youâre gonna wakeup, Usana. Youâre gonna be okay, I know it.â she says. âI just have to â try a little harder.â she says. From where you stand, you see your body, you see your girlfriend next to you. This place, this limbo youâve found yourself in is lonely. You havenât seen your mother in a while. It seemed after sheâd disappeared, you been cut off. So not even the Ancestors could comfort you. âVuka, nkoszana. Vula nje amehlo akho.â she says and you frown.
âBast!â you call out. If this was the Ancestral realm, would it not stand to reason Bast and Sekhmet would be there to greet you? That was what you had always been taught anyway. âHello?â you shout. You feel like youâre stuck in place. Itâs heartbreaking, being able to see your nation in ruin, with no way to salvage that. No way to help them. Only watch from a distance. Youâd long given up trying to reach out and touch, Shuri. This place it impossible for you to get too close.
âCan anybody hear me? I donât want to be here anymore!â you exclaim. Thereâs a beat, a moment of unparalleled silence before you blink again. When your eyes open youâre met with the sight of Queen Ramonda. Sheâs standing at the edge of what looks like a cliff. The water is roaring voluminously. âMama!â you exclaim, and she turns, aghast at the sound of your voice. âY/N.â she mumbles, and before you can help it youâre running towards her. When you are able to embrace her, you squeeze her tight, unshed tears falling all over her.
âYou shouldnât be here.â you cry and Ramondaâs holding you. Sheâs still as posed as ever. âYou shouldnât be here.â she says. âThis is not a place fit for someone like you.â she motions around. âAs opposed to someone like you?â you shoot back, and Ramondaâs lips purse. âYou misunderstand.â she says quietly. âWhile I can see you here now.â she trails off, looking around this new place. âThis is not my resting place. This is not what life after Death is.â she says and you blink. âSo then⊠what is it?â you ask and she frowns even deeper.
âYou are caught in the place your mother calls âThe Otherâ, and your eyebrows raised. âMy mother, youâve seen her?â you ask and Ramonda nods slowly. âWell, why canât I? What is this place? What is the other?â you demand and Ramonda places a firm hand on both your shoulders. âYour body and spirit are battling. You died, Y/N/N.â she says and you look over your shoulder. Though you can no longer see Shuri physically, you can recall exactly how she looked as she stared at your body. âBut my heartbeat. They saved me.â you explain.
âNo, intombazana yakho.â she shakes her head. âYou were already gone.â she says and your mouth falls in a silent gasp. âBut-â you turn around again. âYou are in a vegetative state, there is no way to really know if you will ever wake up again.â she explains and you shake your head. âSo Iâm-â you cut yourself off. âIf I was dead, Iâd be with my family. With the Ancestors. Not in this place where I am plagued by my loverâs grief.â you tell her. âYou havenât let go, Y/N.â she tells you. âWhat are you saying? What does that mean?â you demand.
âYour will is whatâs keeping your heart beating. Your body is done. One foot in the after, but whatever resides in your heart, is keeping you bound to home. To Earth.â she explains, and she steps away from you, crossing her hands. âYou have to make a choice. Will you let go and take your rightful place. Among your family, among the other heroes of our country, among your mother.â she pauses for effect. âOr will you fight for your life, fight for our country, for Wakanda?â
And before you can answer she is gone and youâre alone again.

Shuri found herself taking a stroll, she couldnât bare being cooped up in that room, seeing you like that, anymore. She finds herself walking through the forest. She had no more time to mourn, the time to act was soon approaching. She would have to lead, she would have to grow up and find a way to defeat Namor. Problem was, she didnât see a fight being worth it without you there beside her. She kicks a stray rock, and looks up at the sky. Nakia had been prompting her to pray, pray to Bast, pray for you, pray for healing.
She thought it was all bullshit. Bast didnât care about her, Bast surely didnât care about you. You, the girl sheâd fallen for so suddenly. You were older than her, already wise beyond your years, even when she was a little five year old, and you were six. You were perfect to her then. Back when you were missing front teeth, and hiding behind closed bathroom doors, cutting off chunks of your hair, and swearing your allegiance to the royal family. Some good that did for you. She kicks another rock. Sheâs not sure she has too many tears left to cry.
Her entire body aches, she hasnât slept, sheâs picked around any food brought her way. She is grieving in her own way. âY/N.â she speaks under her breath. Low and quiet, and sheâs grateful sheâd slipped out of the palace undetected. She did not want any watching eyes on her right now. âUyandiva?â she asks. Can you hear me? Not just her words, but her heart. The deeper things underneath the surface stuff. âAre you here?â she knows it sounds silly. You were back in the lab, lifeless, heart monitor doing nothing but causing pain.
But her mother had explained how sheâd found comfort in the five years youâd all been gone. Ramonda had felt TâChalla in the wind, sheâd seen Shuri in the sunbirds. Sheâd found you in the warmth of the sunrise. Sheâs felt you all in the beauty of the sunflowers. Maybe Shuri could find you now. The forest was one of your favorite places to run off. When youâd first started seeing each other, youâd sneak out in the middle of the night, and find each other in this place. Youâd spend the night talking about your dreams, your goals, your hopes.
Perhaps, she could try again.
âI have something to say to you. I think before I move on, I have to say it.â she explains. âDo you remember when I was fourteen.â she starts, and she leans against a tree stump, sliding until her butt rested on the marshy ground. âI wanted to head the Wakandan Design Group, but the Elders refused. Said I was too young, too naĂŻve to lead, to handle the technology of our country.â she whispers to the air just ahead of her. âI was so hurt.â she adds. âThey didnât believe in me, they didnât trust that I could do what was best for us.â she finishes.
âI wanted to cry, but you told me not to.â she laughs quietly. âYou told me to do it anyway. To change their mind, to make them see me.â she gets conviction in her voice. âTo make them see me as more than just a princess, more than the baby girl.â she proceeds. âNow look at me.â she shakes her head. âAll of my dreams wouldâve been nothing if I had not met you.â she runs her hands up and down the legs of her pants. âYou believed in me, sometimes more than I believed in myself.â she sniffles quietly. âYou saved me.â she adds on with a quiet sob.
âIn so many ways, youâve saved my life. You are the strongest person I know. You are everything Iâve ever wanted out of life. And I need you, Y/N.â she feels the tears splattering down on her. âI need you to be strong, I need you to wake up. I need you to come back home. Come back to us, come back to me.â she pleads. âI cannot promise much, we are a weakened nation, but you know better than anyone how strong Wakanda can be. We will not allow this or anything to-to come between us. This will not break us. It canât.â she insists furiously.
âI have to lead, I have to make decisions for our country. I have to step up, and I need you to be here with me, when I do it.â she adds. âThe Black Panther will return, but I canât do it without you. I donât want to do any of this without you.â she trails off. âWherever you are, ubomi bam, fight. For yourself, for Wakanda.â she adds. âJust come back to me.â her Kimoyo beads begin to chirp on her wrist, but she ignores them briskly. When she starts to cry again, she feels relief in her chest, her shoulders relaxing as she leans her head back against the tree. The wind blows around her, and while it shouldâve felt like a whip, it felt like a caress.
