This world is just a canvas to our imagination. Everything you can imagine is real. .....It is hard to imagine a more stupid or more dangerous way of making decisions than by putting those decisions in the hands of people who pay no price for being wrong.......What we wish, we readily believe, and what we ourselves think, we imagine others think also.

And the great thing is that it is simply entertaining, great cinema.
By the way, you need to read the book, not just watch it.

If you meet people all over the world in urban areas who are just like you, you might think you're cosmopolitan, but you're not. You're just someone travelling around in your bubble of comfort.

Well, the translation mistakes were probably the reason I picked that up as a quote in Peaky Blinders.

The fall of the seagulls
An old man was lounging on the quay wall when he saw a seagull fighting with another seagull for a piece of fish waste out of the corner of his eye.
Without any excitement, he picked up a random stone lying there and hurled it with full force in the direction of the fighting seagulls.
The tourists and locals who were in the same place as him at the same time only became aware of his stone throw when, as if by some cruel cosmic coincidence, both of the really large seagulls fell dead from the sky with short but violent screams and in a very desolate state.
He himself simply continued his activity of loitering as if nothing had happened that required his attention. In contrast to all the others who were completely preoccupied by the suddenly different gulls and their loud departure with the special impact on the waves in the harbour basin.
Even those who had only realised the scene later had been busy trying to explain the horrific cause of the seagulls' loud departure, or at least trying to understand it.
The old man sat down in one of the tourist attraction coffee shops where the discussion about the event was in full swing and looked into the many puzzled faces of young and old who were all still trying to figure out why?
And ordered a coffee from a waiter who rushed to him as soon as he had sat down and said to him: did you notice that the two seagulls I mean fell from the sky and landed dead with a scream in the harbour basin? I assume they screamed first and then died, right? The waiter answers of course only so it makes sense, whereupon the old man said that's the most logical thing to do.
He looked at the distraught waiter and said in a calm voice: "Consistents I think and please bring them two bags of sugar, thank you! The waiter looked at the old man and asked: what do you mean? He just smiled and nodded and looked out of the sea.
mod... the old man
We're born alone, we live alone, we die alone. Only through our love and friendship can we create the illusion for the moment that we're not alone.
Orson Welles
I love the illusion that I'm not alone, and if you're honest with yourself, you're never alone. You are always with yourself, so you are never alone.
Loneliness is a completely different world.
