I feel like he'll get a huge redemption arc at the end of ch3, but I feel like it'll less be like he chose to change for the better but more like he was forced to get better. I've just latched onto the idea that the murder in ch3 is going to be a crime of passion by Veronika, with the victim being J. As a way for her to dissect Artuo's mind even more to see how he'll react to the person he admires mosts death. With him being forced to confront the fact that the way he acts has caused someone to die, and the way that this isn't even the first time it happened. Forcing him to reflect on himself to be better (enough) as a person so this'll never happen again. But of course, it's just a prediction that holds no substance right now other than it being good angst potential.
