i must say that by the time i started reading fics i had already been a fiveya enthusiast for a bit BUT these are some of the firsts that i read and they definitely sparked more of my love towards the ship

i remember this being my introduction to fiveya fics and i couldnt have picked something better bcs it left such an impact on me that i have to read it again every now and then. the atmosphere is perfect, i could see everything described so clearly in my head and i adored this “grittier” take on vanya. the ending always makes me smile after all that angst. what i mean to say is you absolutely cant miss this one (or any of the other works by the author for that matter). “He goes to Griddys, and takes a butter knife to a gunfight.” [chefs kiss] outstanding line. its also a character study that is incredibly well thought-out. 

the pull of you by sweetheartbitterheart

AHHHH so many feelings about this one, a whole classic imo. regency au, served the whole p&p vibes and more. super talented author once again. i was holding my breath or giggling like a dumbass at ALL of their interactions throughout this, the prose, dialogues and subtleties are delicious. side-characters on point too!!!!! 

Nothing Will Ever Be Enough by fiveyaaas

well, it wouldnt be a fiveya fic rec without tori who is always blessing the fandom w/ their works. this was the first fic that i read by them and some time later i can say without a doubt that their smuts and fics as a whole never fail to deliver, this is def an uhhhhh intense and angsty one for sure. god tier, the jealousy was delightful. 👀👀👀👀 sparrow!five/vanya/five, enough said.

nearly didn’t notice the gentlest feeling by sweetheartbitterheart

another one that i cherish a lot… actually, let me just go ahead and pretend this is canon instead of s2. it captures the vibe that five and vanya have in the show so well, their tenderness makes my heart combust. “So you still love me?“ she tries to play it off as teasing but there’s a hint of insecurity in her voice, some shyness in her smile. Five can’t allow that. "Of course I do.” YUPPP the tears are falling forever after that. also the hargreeves dynamics here are portrayed wonderfully, vanya remebering what she did to allison for example was heartbreaking and a cathartic moment we deserved. also ben knowing all along is too real lmao.

klaus at the end was the cherry on top obviously, big same.
