There’s a couple of stories leading up to this.

Last week, I saw this post:

Well, that looked like a Mabel sweater to me!    And the idea of her making it for Ford charmed me.  As did the idea of him trying to make his hand approximate the four spikes of a thagomizer, thanks to the suggestion of @randomitemdrop​ above (i.e. the spikes on the end of a stegosaurus’s tail.  That’s… that’s what he’s trying to do, I swear. He’s concentrating on holding his fingers in four distinct spikes.  I tried it myself; taking a pic of my own hand is what I used for a photo ref, though obvs I had to insert another finger in the middle.)

Mabel’s sweater, meanwhile… I had saved this pic of an Issey Miyake sweater  (beneath the cut) about four years ago, intending to do a pic of her wearing it, because I thought it looked neat. Having decided to give Ford the stegosaurus sweater, I pulled out this other design at long last for Mabel.  (And yes, her pose was inspired by the Will Smith gesturing meme.)

I gotta know about Mabel's Many Homecomings!

Ah yes, this was gonna be a bunch of short one-shots in a series based on the Lost Lagends story where Mabel meets a bunch of parallel Mabel's lost in the multiverse. I wanted to write about each Mabel finally returning back to her own world, getting some fluff from a cute reunion -with all the relief of Dipper and the grunks at getting her back after who knows how long- and some interesting world building by seeing all these different versions of the pines family.

I was specifically interested in writing about:

Fish people (Underwater gravity falls environment, kelp forest?)

Elementals (Flamebel, different elements for different people?)

Old Mabel (relativity falls?)

Snake people

Vampires (Pines family as a vampire clan?)

Faun Mabel (Medieval fantasy? DDnD?)

Laid back Mabel (twins personality swaps?)

Slime people (Might be fun?)

Bird Mabel

Hood and short hair Mabel (drifting stars?)

Gargoyle Mabel (Monster falls?)

We have relatives over (we're following guidelines, they've been vaccinated) so I am confined to pen and paper for right now.

Pls give me sketch ideas.

@mandaloriandragontrainer suggested drawing the Northwest Mansion Mystery outfits for the Steampunk AU, and I'm definitely up for designing some dapper kids! ^^
