HEY GUYS GUESS WHAT

VICARIOUS TRAUMA IS A VERY REAL AND SERIOUS THING 

Basically, I was talking to my therapist today and she told me that when you get really invested in a storyline or are really emotionally connected to something, you can end up experiencing trauma just from hearing about it or seeing it. It happens even more easily when you’re already at a low point (aka stressed out or just all around feeling kinda meh)

Sometimes, you might not even realize that its happening or how its affecting you until the next day or week. But it’s still there. 

In other words, please for the love of god take care of yourself. This most recent arc is heavy and I can say with confidence that its taking a toll on all of us in one way or another

Tips on dealing with it

Here’s some advice that my therapist gave me that I thought I would share :D

1) When you are already feeling stressed out, try to take a break from the heavy lore streams. Its ok to not watch them live, the VODs exist for a reason. Not to mention, live-bloggers and recap blogs are here if you need them. We’re here to help each other

2) After a heavy lore stream, remind yourself that this is all fiction. None of it is real, and all the creators on the smp are still alive and safe and still good friends. Maybe go watch a fun, non-lore VOD for a bit :D

3) Every so often, take a step back and look at the smp objectively. Look at it from the eyes of a cynic. Remind yourself that its all m*necraft (censored for tagging reasons). It’s all a bunch of people in their late teens and early 20′s screaming at a ton of blocks. You know that meme of wilbur’s death where its comparing what animators make it look like vs what it actually was? Focus on what it actually was. Focus on just how silly everything is from an objective view

Anyone with real mind-reading powers would’ve known that was actually his brother’s name, and he was living under a false identity
