You expected Jungkook to skip class the next Monday morning because neither of you had gotten enough proper sleep this weekend, but, surprising you, he was standing outside of your dormitory even though it was barely light outside, holding two coffees in his hands, and smiling.

Squinting at him suspiciously, you waited for an explanation why he looked so excited to be awake at seven in the morning – not to mention, why he got up early to get you and him coffee, and then showed up at your dormitory in time to catch you leave.

“I just wanted to go to class together with my girlfriend,” Jungkook said simply enough, emphasizing the last word.

“You’re lying,” you said, still watching him intently but accepting his coffee nevertheless. You almost considered yourself overly paranoid as soon as you took a sip of the blissful beverage, but Jungkook’s smile widened.

“Okay, fine,” he said, unable to hold it in much longer. “Yoongi told me something last night and I’d been looking forward to talking to you about it, so I’m still on a high.”

“Did you sleep at all?”

“No—listen. We got an out-of-town gig,” he said, his eyes glittering so bright, some of the street lamps nearby flickered awkwardly, intimidated. “It’s the first one. Apparently, the manager of some club or event hall—I don’t know—was visiting a relative on campus this Friday, and they saw us play. It’s next weekend. I want you to come with me.”

Jungkook catches your eye as you pass through the library. His features haven’t gone unknown to you — short dark hair, deep eyes, jaw carved by gods good chisel, a body to die for. Not to mention, he’s always top of his class and still manages to find the time to run a campus gaming club. He’s literally everything. 

You’re only here to return a textbook, but you’re way too captivated by his presence to complete the task. This happens almost every time you see him. These scenarios usually begin with you handing him a compliment and ends with him telling you to go away. Alright. Maybe you had an embarrassing run-in with him at a party that left him despising you, but that’s not going to stop you from striking up friendly conversation. You’re more than mutuals. You’ve been at the same college for the past two years and your fathers are work colleagues and regularly drink together. Let’s just say the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.

“Hi, handsome.” You pull up a seat opposite him and give his outfit a once-over — jeans and a black sweater. Take me now. He used to wear thin, black rimmed glasses, but has recently opted for contacts. You’re starting to miss stealing and trying them on. “What you doin’?”

When he looks up at you with a dull expression, you can’t help but catch your bottom lip between your teeth. The faint taste of your strawberry lipgloss pools on your tongue. He’s so fucking hot. 

“Y/N, I’m busy.” He says lowly as to not disturb other studying students. “Can you go and annoy someone else?“

“My gosh.” You take one of his pens and twirl it between your fingers. “You’re always so rude to me. I wonder why.” 

“You know why.” He reaches for his pen, but you pull it away from his touch. A smile tugs at your glossy lips. If he wants to play hard to get, that’s fine, but you’re certain he’ll be captivated by you soon enough.

There were a lot of things about Jungkook that you didn’t learn until you were official. Like the fact he rarely matches his socks unless they’re cool socks. Or that he prefers his pancakes pre-drizzled with syrup. Not necessarily bad things, just aspects the general public wouldn’t normally see. In fact, the worst “trait” you’ve learned about Jungkook in the past year is how easily distracted he can get. Nothing crazy, just tiny actions, like forgetting to eat for three hours because he refuses to leave his Wii until he can beat the guys in three rounds of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate in the Mushroom Kingdom stage. Strangely specific, but it’s Jungkook and you’ve long since learned he’s an enigma.
