Cramped in a single seat of the Korean Air Airbus A330-200, you were up against Jungkook’s muscular chest, hands tightly holding onto the shoulder of his crisp white uniform. The cockpit of the airplane was narrow, with dozens of intimidating switches and levers behind you as Jungkook’s head fixed itself on your neck. 

Warm air wafted around in the cockpit as your head tilted to the side, your hair slowly unwinding away from the ribbon that secured it together. The sky blue uniform that hugged your curves crinkled against his chest and lap, wrinkling as Jungkook nibbled and kissed the skin of your neck, sucking until it turned a shade of red. You winced in his lap, knuckles turning white as you shuffled uncomfortably in the tight space.

You honestly never were too into TikTok. It wasn’t like you hated it, no; you spent too many nights watching TikTok compilations on YouTube to say that you didn’t. However, everything that happened on there would get so viral to the point that it reached everywhere and you would keep getting recommended these short videos through Instagram and at some points it started annoying you. You didn’t understand these trends, how or why they started, why people enjoyed making them or why others enjoyed watching them, but to each their own you guessed, and you left it at that for a long time. Until one particular trend had caught your attention.

It wasn’t a dance thing, you were too clumsy and uncoordinated to manage to do that no matter how simple they seemed. It wasn’t a lip-syncing thing because you never understood the hype about that. It wasn’t lip-syncing to acting scenes either because your mother would surely shake her head in disappointment at you if she ever found out you were lip-syncing to a movie scene. No. it was something far simpler and more fun and required a skill that you had on lock-down with months of practice.

Her braids seemed to bounce with every step and you remembered the way those locks tangled between your fingers like the wings of a stubborn raven. The perfume she spritzed on the pulse of her neck lingered in her aura and in the darkness of the cinema. It was your favourite perfume. Daisy.

But you also remember the ache of your thumbs as you texted her date for her. She had insisted that you’re the wittier conversationalist between the two of you and she was desperate to keep him interested. She had been trying for a very long time after all while you had never stood a chance. The brightness of her smile was almost enough to alleviate the ache of your heart as you made your crush fall for another girl through your very own words. 

Except your best friend wasn’t just another girl. Perhaps that’s why you never said a thing when she stole the perfume from your vanity table. Perhaps that’s why you simply smiled when she didn’t thank you for doing her makeup. Perhaps that’s why you didn’t utter a single word when she said that she’s going on a date with Jeon Jungkook.

“Pink peonies symbolise love at first sight,” your friend had said. She was the florist, the only reason why you were standing in the shop of flowers that day. 

You gazed upon the fresh flower and its unbridled petals. “No wonder it’s so overwhelming,” you smiled. “So much happening at once, it’s difficult to pinpoint that it’s not love at all.” 

Your friend had rolled her eyes, knowing very well that you didn’t believe in love at first sight. 

But your captor certainly did. 

There was an abundance of pink peonies in the room you were trapped in. Four walls freshly painted in a shade of your favourite colour. Reverof is a quaint little town located on the shores of a large freshwater lake, one of the largest in the world. Settled back in a bygone era, known as the early stages of the industrial revolution, it has long past its steel producing, machine manufacturing days and has now become a top vacation destination due to its invitingly mild weather and stunning natural scenery. People from all over the country flock to Reverof annually, spending their holiday weekends camping by the mountainside, hiking through its charming forest trails, gazing at its magnificent waterfalls, and sailing on the surface of the lake’s ocean-like vastness.

The lake was so big; the other side of the shore was not visible to the naked eye. Anybody visiting would think Reverof was just like a city by the ocean, and being a lakeside town, it did have most of the attractions a seaside port city would offer, but of course there were a couple of differences here and there. Reverof didn’t have rocky cliff shores that jut out to be met with aquamarine waves, but instead pine tree covered slopes that gradually reached out into the clear water. It didn’t provide the signature salty breeze and blushing beaches at sunset, but it did have the gentle musky scent of a forest after the rain and colorful pebble covered shorelines.

He hasn’t been out for a hike in a while. Mainly, because he’s practically explored every cave, cavern, and trail that surrounds his little seaside hometown of Jeju. Today, however, he’d felt particularly antsy and knew he just needed to get out of the house, wander along the cliffs by himself, and take a breather. More than that, however, was that something about today had been calling out to him. There was an inexplicable pull deep within him, one that yearned for him to leave his home. Jungkook considers himself an experienced hiker. In fact, there’s no one else who knows the area better than him. Though, with the low setting sun, he knows he’s now further than he’s ever been.

Jungkook has no idea where he is. He doesn’t know where he’s walking to or why his feet, despite aching from how far he’s walked from home, continue their wayward journey. No, Jungkook doesn’t know where he’s going or why he’s going there. He just knows he wants to, and he’s never been one to not follow his heart. Thus, he lets his legs guide him towards wherever his destination is. Every now and then, he stops to take in the scenery and breathe in the beauty that surrounds him.

“Hmm.” He narrows his eyes at his dry hand, then glowers up at the overcast sky and heaves an irritated sigh. The weather forecast had lied. Again. This was the second time this week that, instead of sunshine and high temperatures, they were instead given downpour and gloom. Well, it wasn’t pouring yet, but Jin wasn’t about to get his hopes up.

“Alright boys, let’s pick up the pace. I want to get in at least some practicing before it starts to rain,” Jin calls over to his team, all stretching their limbs and grumbling a collective ‘Yes coach.’ They all look as miserable as Jin assumes they feel and just the tiniest part of him feels almost sorry for making them practice. Almost. The team needs to kick their practicing into high gear if they want to be ready in time for the new season and that meant no slacking, so Jin shakes off the slight guilt with ease.

He instructs half the team to do interval throwing – a partner drill where they throw the ball back and forth - while the other half of the team does base running.

Three rows down, doing the interval drill, Jungkook nurses a wicked headache and catches the ball that comes whizzing at him from the opposite end. He throws it back and Jimin catches it in his glove easily, yawning tiredly and putting little effort into his next throw.
