The icy breeze whipped across your face as you started your approach towards the building. The speed of your heart was increasing with every step, your legs began to weigh you down like lead, and your breathing became harsh and ragged. Nerves were infecting your body, intensifying as you finally reached the automatic doors. You closed your eyes, taking in a deep breath before finally stepping forward. The doors opened for you, and the bustling Busan train station was revealed.

Noises echoed in every direction, you watched as people quickly rushed towards their trains, and you suddenly figured that you should do the same. You shook away your wonder as you started to go through bag check, but your eyes still managed to drift around the building that you remembered all too well.

It was quieter back then, or maybe it wasn’t. You might’ve just been so numbed by all of the pain you were feeling that you couldn’t sense anything else. Your eyes glided across the path that had been etched into your mind for the past year and a half.

“I know it doesn’t seem like it, but I love you so much. I really fucking do.”

“Tae just get off, I told you I’m not in the mood to talk about this anymore,” you huffed, unreceptive to his attempts at hugging you and bringing you closer.

“But babe, I said I was sorry and-”

“And what, Taehyung?” You said, and he suddenly froze at the use of his full name. That’s when he knew you weren’t just jokingly sulking and that you were actually upset about this. He sighed and ran a hand through his hair. “What’s sorry gonna change this time?” You continued.

“Why are you being like this, __?” He half whined, half groaned. “You know how busy my work schedule’s been lately. My acting, singing, the interviews, everything-”

“Oh for god’s sake.” You pulled away from his embrace harshly. “I promised myself I wouldn’t be one of those girlfriends Taehyung, but that promise only stands if you keep your fucking end of the promise as well. It’s always this and that, and I understand - I really, really do - but I just,” you let out a pathetic sigh as you felt yourself start to tear up slightly. You were that frustrated with the whole ordeal. “I don’t even see you anymore. We don’t talk. Heck, sometimes I feel like I talk to the other guys more than I do to you.”

“Do you not see me trying?” His tone was exasperated and you heard that sprinkle of annoyance building up inside you, slowly switching your mood from sad to angry. “I feel like a fucking circus clown juggling all of this shit together. I don’t sleep well, I can barely get some proper shut eye, I never go out anymore. All I wanted was to come home and cuddle with you but then you decide to start nagging me even more about this-”

“Excuse me,” you cut him off with a look of shock sprawled across your face. “Nagging? Oh wow, Taehyung, real mature,” you scoffed before you got up from bed with your phone in hand, heading to the living room, hearing him mutter a ‘goddammit’ but you didn’t even care to respond anymore.

“__, baby,” he called out to you and you only walked further to the front door, putting on your shoes as you heard his footsteps approaching you quickly. “__, where are you going?”

“That’s none of your business,” you said coldly, grabbing your coat to put it on, but got cut off when he grabbed your arm and turned you to face him.

“Can you just calm down for a bit so we can talk about this?”

“I need to get some air. Maybe I’ll give my nagging a break, I’m sure your busy head could use some rest, yeah?”

You brushed his arm off and swung the door open, quickly making your way out. You were glad he didn’t try to stop or follow you because you truly did need some time to yourself to let off some steam, and being anywhere near him at the moment wouldn’t provide you with that.

You watched the messages pile in one by one, taking a sip of your drink as you sat at a booth in the corner so as not to be bothered. You sighed, running a hand through your hair, thinking about him sitting alone at home like a lost puppy waiting for you to come back.

You just couldn’t help it. It was your damn anniversary, you thought you at least had the right to enjoy that with your boyfriend. But clearly that wasn’t a privilege when he called you up about an hour before your perfectly planned night, that some sorrowful voice informing you that he had to stay late at the studio again.

You tried to convince yourself that it was alright, that this was perfectly normal. But why was normal? Was it normal to not spend a full on hour with your boyfriend during the day despite the both of you living in the same apartment? Was it normal not to kiss him for a whole week, when you remembered not being able to take your lips off each other only months prior? No, it didn’t seem very normal to you.

You were cut off from your thoughts when you felt your phone continuously vibrate, signaling a call instead of a series of texts now. You sighed, contemplating for a few seconds whether to pick up or not, before sliding open the glowing green button.

“Oh thank god,” you heard that voice you loved so much sigh in relief. “__? Where are you?”

“At a bar,” you replied curtly, taking another sip of your drink.

“Care to be more specific?”

“Nope.”

He sighed.

“Baby, please come home.”

You felt your heart clench when you heard his voice break slightly, and you slowly put your drink down.

“Just come home. I don’t want to go to bed angry.”

“I’m sorry. I’m so sorry. God I’m such a dick sometimes. I don’t even deserve you in my life and here I am acting like an asshole and taking it for granted. Just please-”

He pulled away from the embrace he held you in as soon as you’d gone through the door, his large hands cupping your cheeks, thumbs rubbing along the skin. You felt your eyes tear up slightly at the desperate look in his eyes.

“Stay. I’ll try harder, I will.”

Your hands went up and held his, before turning your head and placing a soft kiss to his palm. A small smile slowly curved onto both your lips and he stepped closer, leaning down and kissing you so slowly and softly, all breath left you at once.

You pulled away from the kiss and squeezed his hand in yours. “We’ll both try harder. Now let’s get to bed.”

Jeongguk sighed, throwing his head back for a second as he internally fought against himself and his hopeless need to give you what you wanted. “I really need to leave now, babe” he tried to make you understand; and when he saw your mouth open to say something more, he beat you to it: “And, if I kiss you, then you’ll do that thing where you pull me closer when I try to end it and I’ll fall for it like I always do” his words were fast spoken, for he was already trying to rush towards the front door.

You huffed, following hot on his heels and grabbing the sleeve of his oversized hoodie once more, pushing it up so that you could hold his hand. “One kiss” you stuck your lower lip out, “I promise I won’t try anything else, Guk-ah”.

The sweet tone you had just used in your voice, along with the puppy eyes you were staring up at him with, had Jeongguk giving in in a heartbeat – letting out a small sigh right before his cloudlike lips collided against yours. And you were true to your word, much to his surprise. Much to his newfound disappointment. So, as soon as you pulled apart and smiled at him, you noticed his pouty lips and furrowed eyebrows. “Why’d you pull away?” he whined, deciding to let you know what was going on after seeing your dumbfounded expression.

That only caused your confusion to increase. “You told me not to kiss you like I always do?”

“Yeah, but” his pout grew more prominent, pulling you closer by your waist so that your body was stuck to his, “I thought you knew it was one of those times when I say I don’t want you to do it but I’m lowkey dying for you to kiss me like that so then you do anyway and I–” his delusional explanation was shut up by your slightly curved up in amusement mouth crashing against his, this time wrapping your arms tightly around his neck so you could intensify the kiss – just like your silly, whiny boyfriend was so badly craving for.
