A wheezy giggle met your ears in response. You huffed,smacking the brunt of your palm into the wood once more. “Taehyung, I swear togod if you don’t-“

You were a breath away from jamming the toe of your bootinto the bottom of the door when it swung open. The cake curled in the crook ofyour elbow nearly smeared to the front of Jeongguk’s shirt, his laughter onlygrowing at your horrified expression as you rushed to steady it.

“I hate both of you,” You hissed, shoving your way inbetween the two giggling boys.

“No you don’t!” Taehyung sang.

Jeongguk nodded furiously, “You love us.”

You curled both palms around the plastic tray the cake wasperched on, the roll of your eyes carrying your gaze over your shoulder. “Is hestill asleep?”

“Probably not now with all your yelling and banging around.”

You glared at Taehyung’s boxy smile, shoulders against thedoor to Jimin’s room, “You don’t get any cake,” You threatened, dropping yourelbow to flick open the doorknob.

You’d barely encased yourself in the safety of the room whena soft voice was mumbling, “There’s cake? Who has cake?”

You nearly jump out of your skin, thanking the high heavens that the spatula hadn’t flown out of your hand, as a scowl settles on your visage when you throw one glance at the entryway.

A grin curves on his visage. You don’t need to see him to know that much, and you vaguely recall his body being free of any fresh bruises and (thankfully) soot-covered clothing. The clothes are a pain to deal with, sure, but the real bitch is when he’s injured. He has a way of tugging on your heartstrings, reminding you of why you agreed to living with him in the first place.

Somewhere along this “I’m a firefighter-in-training and I’m a little desperate about finding a roommate that can cover half the rent, so please do me this favor because we’re best friends” ordeal came the flutters in your chest and the fire burning down further past the pit of your stomach where your core likes to remind you that not only was your roommate extremely attractive and rather neat, but that he was also kind and generous, thoughtful even. The seldom few times you woke to breakfast already down and some of your leftover laundry folded have become too many to count on your hands alone. And it’s sweet, endearing really. It all masks about a quarter of the bigger picture that makes up Jeon Jungkook.

Because somewhere beyond the kindness, generosity, and thoughtfulness is a little shit.
