Reincarnation

        I have this friend, Tobias; he’s an angel like me. He and I get along great we lived our first lives together back in French revolution. Our families were one of the unlucky ones to be sent to the guillotine. I was young and so was he and we were even thrown into the same cell together. We made up games to pass the time like throwing sticks out the cell windows at the third class people below us.

After we died, we woke up in heaven. There is a endless number of options to waste away eternity with. However; Tobias has one hobby of his that he loves to do over and over, reincarnation. Reincarnation is something that everyone has done at least twice here in heaven. The rules are that you are given three different type of lives to choose from, each with its own perks and challenges, so you can decide what you want your next life to be like. When you die then you remember all your past lives and even make some new friends.

The life he just chose was a boy to be born in the United States. Said that he wanted to see what the new world had become. He has three more years till his born again, which in heaven is like two months and seventeen days. I don’t really get the time here. The only problem is, I got kids all in different countries. So I told Tobias I had made plans to go see the Archangels in concert and couldn’t make it. See there is one problem with reincarnation, once you found your soul mate. Your love life isn’t the same without the other person there, no matter how many times you do it. 

Tobias still has no idea, but I love him. I’ve been with him for a long time now, however, I still can’t work up the courage to tell him. If I did, I’m so afraid that he will think differently of me. He finds love in all of his lives but always ends up going back and I always end up finding myself waiting for him, eternity seems so much longer when his not here. He invited me to a party tonight with all the angels who are going to be reborn in the same country as him. Ever meet a friend that you have a weird connection with? Then you two probably hung out during those parties.

I’ve never asked Tobias why he constantly becomes reborn again and again. I was hoping to get him alone tonight and ask him. I can only imagine it’s something along the lines of “because it’s fun”, but something is gnawing at me to ask. The question is slowly burning inside me and eating away at me. I guess I want him to say something like “because I want to find someone to love me for eternity”, or something stupid and cheesy that would never come out of his mouth…but if he ever did say that…if he ever felt like that…I’d probably confess right there, that I love him. That I think he's my soul mate.

It's fine

I’m going through a lot right now. I have realized that I am one of those people who, for whichever reason, feel as if they are undeserving of affection. Well I’m here to say, if you feel like that, it’s fine. It’s fine that you have walls up. It’s fine that you made your heart a little harder and your skin a little thicker. It’s fine that you can’t handle being in a relationship because in the past a boy broke your heart and now you have trust issues. It’s fine because you’re not alone. This doesn’t mean that you will end up a grumpy old person because you never found love. This means that someone really amazing is going to tear down your walls with nothing but a look and while you hide behind the rubble sobbing from vulnerability. When they find you they’ll hold you until you understand they want you for who you are, no matter how much you struggle. One day a man or woman will show you kindness that you didn’t think still existed in the human race. You’ll find that the ice queen or king, who you thought called your heart home, melted away long ago. It just takes a warm smile to melt the snow away too.
