Did you notice that we hardly hear Vi's full name throughout whole Arcane's action?

The name Violet, besides the color, means flower. And the flowers are delicate, fragile and easy to destroy. Vi doesn't want to be like that, she knows she has to be strong for herself and her family to survive in such a cruel world.

That's why she doesn't let (I guess so) anyone refer to her by her full name. She's tough, she's strong, she's Vi, not Violet when she's going through life. She doesn't want to show the vulnerability with which her name could be associated.

I wrote "hardly", because... because there is one exception. Exactly in episode three, Powder is kneeling on the ground, begging Vi not to leave her.

She probably knows why Vi doesn't use her full name, since they were very close.

And that's why in that scene Powder uses the name Violet twice, because she doesn't want Vi at that moment, she doesn't want this girl treated harshly by life by her, she doesn't need her. Powder at that point needs fragile, warm Violet, her sister.
