Jinx And Silco - Tumblr Posts
I love turning romance songs platonic so heres my funky little list (mainly Taylor Swift bc shes all i listen to):
-Seven by Taylor Swift is abt vi and powder when they were little
-Bejeweled by Taylor Swift is about jinx healing and attending an academy and shining in all her classes as the top student after silcos death despite him leaning into her fighting side rather than her smart side
-You're On Your Own Kid by Taylor Swift is obviously about jinx missing vi do i even have to explain
-Afterglow by Taylor Swift is, again, obviously abt jinx and vi
Now for the mitski songs im not sure count:
I Bet On Losing Dogs is cait about vi and vi about jinx, I Want You is about vi missing jinx/powder, Why Didn't You Stop Me is jinx to vi, Brand New City is just jinx tbh
i will update this probably
Oh my god this about silco and jinx...

Im sorry silco stans i hate him sm š fuck that guy fr
artist jinx pouring her blood, sweat and tears into animating this for the sole purpose of sending it to a high Violet Lanes at 3am
Since vander is pratically the ruler of zaun, i.e the king, does that mean his kids are the princes/princesses of zaun and with both vander and silco dead doesnt that mean Vi is now the rightful king and Jinx is the princess
Tbh i just consider this canon now like all zaunites r just like "oh yeah so our princess is a blood thirsty terrorist and our king lives in piltover as the sheriffs trophy wife"
Since vander is pratically the ruler of zaun, i.e the king, does that mean his kids are the princes/princesses of zaun and with both vander and silco dead doesnt that mean Vi is now the rightful king and Jinx is the princess
I made this drawing inspired by my shipp of the moment and a random era, because I like them all

Arcane - The Sins of the Father
Arcane does a really good job of assessing nature vs nurture when it comes to what shapes a person and what they become. Vi and Jinx are the primary examples of this. They are both caring people by nature but the world around them and their adoptive father figures are key parts in solidifying that characteristic or deteriorating it.Ā

For Vi the world has beaten her down time and time again like many characters in the series but Vander was a key part in making sure she didnāt succumb to her hatred and anger. At the start of the series Vi wants to fight. She wants to teach the enforcers a lesson and hurt them like they hurt the people of the undercity. But Vander reminds her that her decisions effect those around her. āYou have a good heart. Donāt lose it. No matter how the world tries to break youā. When push comes to shove Vi is willing to give herself up to protect her sister and friends and prevent conflict with those in Piltover. She chooses peace over violence despite violence being all she knows. I think it is here that Vi becomes a protector rather than an avenger. She was toeing the line between the two before this moment.
Vander learned from his mistakes and passed those lessons onto Vi. His final appearance convincing Vi to get up really solidifies this and Viās role as a protector. His lessons have continued on long after he is gone.Ā ā I wish I could say it gets easier, kiddo. But I'd be lying. What I can say is... She still needs you. They all do. So what do you say?āĀ

For Jinx the line that defined her was said by her sister rather than any father figureĀ āBecause youāre a jinx... Mylo was rightā. Powderās evolution into Jinx is brought on by her hearing her sister finally agreeing with the others and looking at her as a weakness (from her perspective. We know that Viās outburst came from a place of pain from learning that her sister caused the explosion that killed Mylo and Clagger and led to the death of Vander rather than a place of genuine hatred or contempt). This is further solidified by Silco using his misplaced guidance to make her believe that this moment made her stronger rather than actually addressing the issue and dealing with the trauma. He believed that killing the person who was hurt by the one closest to them was the solution rather than healing.Ā Jinx became a vessel for destruction because thatās the only way she was taught to deal.

Silco and Vander genuinely loved their daughters and did the best they could with what they had. The sad reality is that Vander learned from his mistakes and Silco didnāt. Silco didnāt have the same kind of support that Vander made for himself which gave him the ability to clearly see that violence hadnāt gotten them anything but loss. Silco was forced to drag himself through his pain which lead to his misplaced beliefs and unintentional projection onto Jinx. This story is a tragedy of circumstance and trauma. The sins of the father and their lessons learned really can pass onto the child and effect who they become moving forward.
Iāve talked on and on about how Arcane episode 9 was set up within episode 3 multiple times but this time I want to talk about another brilliant similarity within the episodes. That of Vander and Silcoās deaths.Ā

Both Vander and Silco are restrained and struggle to get free so that they can protect their daughter in some way which leads to their final actions (Vander fighting off Silcoās men and Silco trying to shoot Vi). Both have their daughter kneeling and holding their fatherās face while he dies in their arms. And both end on a wide shot of the daughter mourning the death of their father before their next actions cause things to fall even further apart (Vi lashing out at Powder and Jinx firing the rocket at Piltover. Both have or will have devastating consequences).
Vander and Silco are both faced with a choice in their final moments which is interesting because it says so much about the two as individuals and their impact on their daughters. Vander can kill Silco or save Vi and Silco can kill Vi or let things play out. Their final actions were both meant to protect their daughters. But where Vander chooses to save what he loves rather than destroy what he hates, sacrificing himself, Silco chooses to kill what he hates to protect what he loves, attempting to kill Vi. This plays into what the fathers were while raising their daughters. Vander was a protector who tried to keep the peace and shield those he cared about from harm whereas Silco was an avenger who struck out at those who harmed him and the undercity. This choice is a perfect encapsulation of that and leads to their daughters following in their footsteps. Vi is a protector and Jinx becomes an avenger.
For a short summary the main things that make these scenes so different are what the fatherās say to their daughters in their final moments, the lighting, and how the father is framed with respect to their daughter.Ā

Their different framing in the wide shot is particularly fascinating. Vi is draped over Vander as he lies lifeless on the ground. The flames bathe the scene in light and bring the placement of his body into focus. Vanderās body is between Vi and the flames even as sheās draped over him. It seems symbolic of his final actions and how he tried to shield Vi from falling victim to her hatred and anger.Ā

Jinx is on her knees in front of Silco with him above her and the shadow of his chair cast over her. His body is shielding her from the much more gentle light of the candles and blocking out all behind it with almost everything cut out of frame other than the two of them. Itās framed more like an isolation of the two with Silco and his chair cutting them off from the rest of the world instead of the moment alone that the world doesnāt encroach on that Vander and Viās wide shot is.
This is such a complex show and I want to go further into the similarities and differences in these scenes but that is taking a lot longer than I planned so I decided to put out a much shorter version in the meantime.

Iām honor of my Fatherās Day, I now presentā¦ my favorite fathers across the multiverse.š
Arcane Incorrect Quote #8
Sevika: Why are there little handprints all over the wall?
Silco, whispering: Why are there little handprints all over the wall?
Powder/baby Jinx, whispering back: Because I have small hands.
Silco: Because she has small hands.
