The Bucket List

The Bucket List

This post was inspired by this bucket list. Thank you to the extremely lovely @not_friends. I also stole a thing from her list. I didn't think she'd mind. I'm one of those people that needs goals. I need something to work towards. I know there are underlying issues behind it, but this isn't the place to go through it (...yet. Hahaha).

Anyway life is short and I want to experience everything the world has to offer. Yep, everything. Everything, everything, everything. But I'm realistic enough to know that I could live a thousand lifetimes and still not experience everything possible. So why not narrow it down to a list that of things that I would regret never doing?

Behold, my bucket list (in no particular order):

Buy a Hermes bag (The Kelly, maroon, alligator skin, silver fixtures)

Dance at the top of the Eiffel Tower at night while the lights are on

Go to Egypt and climb to the top of a pyramid, enjoy the view, then climb back down and not get caught

Learn the words to the national anthems of both of my countries

Drive an Aston Martin very fast on an open road and live my Bond girl fantasy

Accept and be at peace with myself

Wear an outfit that makes me feel beautiful

Meet my grandfather

See an NFL game live

See a football game in Europe or England

Dance at Mardi Gras

Write a book

Go to New York

Spend a day on a beach in Brazil without hyperventilating from anxiety

Commit to spending my life with someone worthy

Own a first edition of a classic novel, preferably a book of fairy tales or Les Liaisons dangereuse by Choderlos de Laclos but I'm open.

Buy a boat

Skydive

Celebrate Christmas Day and love every single moment of it

Go to Machu Picu

Writing this last was quite...illuminating? I realised that it's generally more important for me to feel something than it is to do something. If you know me then this insight probably explains quite a lot of my actions.

Yes, I want to own a Hermes bag. Is it silly? Quite possibly. But I've had that particular bag picked out since I was 12 and damnit, I will have it! It'll bring me so much happiness and accomplishment and I'll probably spend days stroking the material of the bag while crying silent tears of joy.

Others seem superficial, such as buying a boat. This actually harks back to a promise I made to my Dad. He loved being on the sea and living on seafood. He loved it more than anything and I was the only one of his children to inherit that. When I was very young and he was happy, we would joke about buying a boat and living on it. He's gone now, but the dream lives on. I'm getting that damn boat and I'm naming it in honour of my Dad.

If I die while doing any of these, I hope I go instantly and while doing numbers 5, 18 or 20. Let me go out on a high.

At the end of the day, these are the things I would regret never doing. Many of these I've dreamed of doing or having since I was a little girl. Some I've learned that I need to achieve or do in roder to feel like I've made use of this life. Others are on there because it would be a helluva rush and I'm always chasing that feeling.

Whatever happens, it should be a great ride.

Wait, you've never spent the night dancing around to Moonlight Lady by Julio Iglesias with a man who makes your heart sing in an apartment that's only decorated with fairy lights while drinking Sangria and singing and crying from laughter and sheer happiness?? YOU HAVEN'T LIVED!

This made me so sad. How awful

White privilege is making comments such as “You worship cows, don’t you?” when a fellow Hindu classmate in your food and nutrition class says they can’t eat/ make anything that has beef as an ingredient.

White privilege is not having your teacher force you to make spaghetti with ground beef in...

the song is Fast Car by Tracy Chapman

I am not, by any stretch of the imagination, a soft, weepy girl.

I have ended up in tears every single time I've watched this video. 'Fast Car' by Tracy Chapman is the anthem for anyone who's ever escaped from a former life.

It's one of my most favourite songs ever and he covers it beautifully.

Are You Someone Who Holds A Camera Up In A Concert And Then Wonder Why Everyone Hates You? I'll Tell

Are you someone who holds a camera up in a concert and then wonder why everyone hates you? I'll tell you why.

It's because you're an asshole. No no no no, don't shake your head and tell me some excuse about how you give money to charity and blah blah blah. You are.

You blocked the view of someone who paid a lot of money to get there and experience the awesome experience of live music by a musician that they love by sticking your piece of shit camera in their fucking view and then you were incredibly perplexed, annoyed or you laughed at them for getting rightfully fucking angry because you are an asshole who ruined their experience by failing to realise that the other people there were just as deserving of an amazing time as you. In fact, you probably justified your actions by some pathetic and weak ass excuse.

Don't justify it. You're an asshole. Now get the hell out of my way!

I’m a 21 year old guy with one more semester of college left. If there was a textbook of “nice slightly geeky guy,” it’d have my picture there. I’m not fat, I’m not pimply, but I’m not cut or super-hot either… just a slightly above-average looking guy who knows how to treat a girl.

All of...
