Recollections: The Moat Guardian

Recollections: The Moat Guardian

Sharing a fun story from an old D&D campaign -

So this little tale is from a campaign I ran known as “The Wayward Crowns.” Lovely group of folks, very creative, and all of them with a great sense of humor. Many laughs were had around that table, but I’ll relate one of the sillier moments here. The party came into possession of a parcel of land, complete with a castle – or rather, the ruins of a castle. The roof had fallen in over the Great…

In the Garden - Rain

In the Garden – Rain

X Hello, my friend. Come on in out of the rain, take off your shoes – the coat hook’s just there, and the elephant vase can hold that wet umbrella. No, no, don’t worry about dripping on my floor. It’s only water! My, it is coming down with enthusiasm, isn’t it? <She brings you over to the fireplace, settles you in your usual chair, and brings you a towel and a crocheted blanket done up in…

Seawrack: Chapter One, Part Three

Seawrack: Chapter One, Part Three

The storm descended, and with it, winter closed his claws around the town. The fields, already sere and bare, turned to mud and slush. The streets of the town began to look dirty, no matter how much you swept the stones. When it wasn’t rain, it was sleet, and when it wasn’t raining or sleeting, it was bitter cold. Berylla didn’t like winter very much. It was familiar, like an old boot, but it…

What Lies Beyond the Door

What Lies Beyond the Door

Welcome, greetings, and all that stuff – come in, come in out of the cold. Sit, have a cuppa, pass the time a little while. <She is wrapped in a colorful shawl over a long black gown, and a hat hides much of her face, but you can see her smiling. It is a warm, friendly smile, the smile of someone truly glad to see you.> So then, I’m Hawk – and you, my friend, are a curious traveler. It’s obvious…

All of this. So well stated.

I am absolutely filled with adoration for people who leave comments on fanfic.

Bless you for your all-caps screaming and your keysmashing, I can spend days smiling like a goober in public places at the memory of it.

Bless you for your entirely needless apologies over commenting in a second language. I am so impressed by you! The most I know in any language besides English is how to introduce myself and maybe ask for the bathroom! You are so cool!

Bless you for coming out of your shell to comment when you’re nervous about doing so! Fanfic authors are a voracious species, but not a picky one. Even the smallest one-sentence comment is good food!

Bless you for quoting your favourite lines, or sharing some insight you gained into a character through the fic. It makes it so clear that you really read and absorbed all the little bits!

Bless you for noticing small details around world-building and setting and whatnot! It makes the googling worth it!

Bless you for commenting your own headcanons and ideas! They help me expand my own understanding of the setting and characters!

Bless you for writing your own fics! Get out there and put those characters in Situations™!

Aaagh I just…I love fandom so much, I really really do.

A Small Announcement!

Hey there everyone! So as you may have noticed, things are changing a lot on this page, as I figure out just how to do everything I need to do – thank you for being so patient with me while I get myself sorted out! That said, I want to clarify some things I’ve done recently. I got muddled about my planned sequence of events as it were, and posted great huge long chapters here, then un-published…
