After being arrested, Jones has regret for putting his friends in such pain from finding out who he was so he planned an execution; his execution. The judge originally gave him a life sentence, but he felt like he didn't deserve it, he deserved death. He wrote a letter to GPD:

You all were great pals, but I have nothing now. I'm sorry to Nathan for breaking your expectations. I'm sorry to Grace for breaking our friendship. I'm sorry to Ramirez for making him look up to someone who wasn't loyal. I'm sorry to Alex for being a brother, but not a friend. I'm sorry to Chief for being like you. I'm sorry to Julie/June/player for making you feel hopeful until you saw me. I love you guys, but not enough to change my actions until it was too late. Farewell to my friends (if you still care that much).
