Hey There! Just Curious Question, Can Dragons Well... Eat Too Many Eggs And End Up Fatally Sick? I Don't
Hey there! Just curious question, can dragons well... Eat too many eggs and end up fatally sick? I don't know if this has been asked yet, but I wonder.
Hello again^^ Ah, this is a fantastic question!
(Please note that the following is purely Egg Eater Fanon)
Technically, what you've described is possible! But there are many variables to consider. Egg Eating deals heavily with how Raw Elemental Magic within the egg reacts with the Unique Elemental Magics within a dragon.
REM and UEM
UEM- The personality and character of a dragon, their soul if you will, becomes intertwined with their Flight's Element as they grow. Their fears, desires, dreams, hopes, and wishes, and their little personality quirks that make them unique individuals, all merge with this energy to create a sort of unique magical signature.
REM- This is one of the Rawest forms of Elemental Magic, found in few places aside from dragon's eggs. Like the deities they originate from, this magic is intensely powerful, unstable, and chaotic.
CONSUMPTION
Consuming an egg produces all sorts of effects based off of the qualities of the consumer's own UEM. For example, Okira's powers and symptoms are based purely off of fear, guilt and shame. It also has elements of the arcane, as that was the type of egg he had first eaten.
That being said, some effects don't manifest as powers, but are purely physical changes, others are psychological, and sometimes there are no powers to be seen even when eggs are eaten regularly.
It all depends on the type of dragon doing the eating,( and in some cases, a tiny bit on what kind of Element they're consuming)
ANSWER:
So, yes. A dragon could eat too many eggs and end up fatally sick. It would just be uniquely their problem.
Thank you for the lovely ask!

Has anyone ever opened an egg and found a hatchling inside? If so what happened? If not what would they do?

We've seen how Okira's withdrawal's go, what about the others? I get that probably none of the others stop from eating eggs for long enough that they'd get withdrawals, but how would it go if they did?
Okira's condition is unique to him, but if it were to affect the others I imagine it would look something like this...

Rannoch- Advanced ageing
Khoga- Total blindness
Via- Extreme degradation of scaleless skin
How long have the egg-eaters been in prison? Are they going through withdrawl while in there, or are they being,, fed according to their needs? Or do the wardens have some sort of more-moral substitute that helps a little?
Canonically, only for a few weeks, so it hasn't been that bad. Only Okira is going through withdrawal, the other members aren't cursed with such symptoms.
Nope! The Talosians wouldn't dare use dragon eggs just to satiate the hunger of their prisoners. They do provide very high quality meats, seafood, fruits, and veggies during mealtimes. That's not pity though. Being Talosians, even the wardens and prison cooks have a taste for the finer things in life.
Okira has been seen by several Orcan physicians along with the Elite Council Sorcerers Phantorime and Orishigami. They truly have no idea how to counter his symptoms, but are still working to craft a treatment.
I think that other anon meant it's like if Matches was less cartoony and more "this is an actual dragon"
I think it's the fuzz
Oh, no no no, please don't misunderstand.
They're spot on.
Seeing the similarities just had this strange effect. Like accidentally touching the wet side of a camouflaged frog that you thought was a leaf. Not bad. Maybe even a little bit cool. Just had to get past the initial shock of seeing the little fella.
