clan concept: a shadow clan made of any sort of dragon you can imagine, all tending to a mushroom farm. they’re so in tune with their crops that they universally sprout little clusters of mushrooms on themselves, too. it isn’t revealed to visitors that the dragons themselves have lost themselves long ago, walking hosts for the cordyceps that their bodies now tend to.

YO OKIRA SPOILERS-If you liked the comic-Okira and the Wanderer, Major spoilers ahead!)

Just throwing out some Egg-Eater lore focusing on Okira.

You know, I said “Okira. He deserves a childhood backstory, the poor thing.” Without processing one crucial fact...That said childhood, no matter how sugar/spice it is, is going to end up something that’s ripped away later down the line. 

Little bit of a trigger warning-Mentions of super-unhealthy dynamics, abuse and (ooh! here’s a rare one for ya) cannibalism. Haven’t seen that one before. 

For those of you who don’t know, Okira is a very notable member in the Egg-Eater clan. He is a young-adult wildclaw, is extremely timid and needy, and, despite his seniority(in time being an egg-eater, not age) over other members he is still subject to the group’s proverbial punches. This poor drake can’t catch a break.

As for childhood backstory, I wanted someone who started out as truly innocent before becoming an egg eater. Every other Egg-eater has ulterior motives or an end goal which they were willing to go to extreme lengths to fulfill. For example, Khoga, a  female Tundra with a thirst for science and a disdain for the constraints of ethics, merely wants to study the effects of egg eating. Rannoch, a female wildclaw, wants to absorb the energy within eggs to improve her prowess in the Arena. And, Matthias, the instigator(and essentially clan/cult of personality leader)  really only wants an excuse to eat dragon eggs and make others do the same. Yet its Okira, the very first Egg-Eater, and the only one to become addicted to the elemental-energy found in dragon eggs, who didn’t do it to himself. 

He’s been trapped in a horrible cycle for a while, put and kept there by his dependency on Matthias, and by his own internal conflictions. 

I LOVE how you draw tundras. They just...look so FLUFF AND SOFT

Aww, thank you! Tundras are so goddamned fluffy and I’m in love with the idea of hugging one. They’d make the best huggers in all of Sornieth.
