Just watched the new Helluva Boss episode safe to say the fixations coming back :,)
June of Doom day three: Well, well, well... (hiding) (tw manipulation, violence, abuse)

Run. Don't stop. Stop for a moment, and he'll catch you. That was all that ran through Hunter's mind as he dashed down the seemingly endless halls. He could hear faint chirping but it was so distant it got drowned out by the hammering in his head and the blood rushing through his ears.
Hunter could see distantly a turn in the hall. Maybe an escape? He had thought he knew this palace like the back of his hand, but these halls seemed twisted, unfamiliar. He skidded to a stop to turn. But one stop was one two many. The turn in the hall was blocked, by one piercing blue eye and a stare cold and dead as ever.
Hunter staggered back with a started yelp, covering his mouth to muffle the scream threatening to escape his mouth. *no no no hes gone he's dead! There's no way, theres-* his panicked train of thoughts was cut off by a cold hand tilting his chin upward. Hunter tried to step back again but was met with a wall behind him, pressing himself against it trying to get as far away from Belos as possible.
"My dear Hunter... why have you done this to me..." Belos murmered with false regret and sadness. Hunter was trembling, the chirping in his ear getting a bit louder. He couldn't gain the nerves to speak. "I always wanted what was best for you... but I guess some people are just born evil, aren't they?" Belos purred, that wretched mask covering the maniacal smirk on the emperors face.
"Y-your not real! Your gone!" Hunter squeeked in a much less dignified tone than he meant to. Belos simply chuckled in response, grabbing Hunter by the collar of the shirt. "Well, well, well... the grimwalker has a voice does he?" Belos hissed. Only one eye visible where a crack went through the emperors mask, but one cold blue eye was enough to send chills up Hunter's spine.
Hunter frantically claws at Belos's hands, needing to get away, to escape. But Belos didn't soften his grip. Something chirped in the boys ear. "Wake up..." it was faint. Faint enough he thought he imagined it. "Trust me... I'm completely real my dear. And I'm coming for you and your friends. You might as well say goodbye to them now." Belos sneered.
"No! No, your made up!" Hunter half-yelled but his voice felt scratchy and hoarse. "Your dead!" Hunter choked out. Belos gave a shrug. "Can't reason with crazy." He chuckled, before his open hand shifted into a vicious scythe, and all Hunter could feel was a sharp pain jolt out from his chest, than darkness.
An overwhelming darkness. Hunter tried opening his eyes. One sweet brown eye looked back with concern. Flapjack chirped worriedly as Hunter had sat up in a cold sweat panting for air. Why did that nightmare feel so /real/? Flapjack gently tugged at the noodle of hair on Hunter's head, chirping softly. "Calm breathe, Hunter," the bird trilled quietly. "Safe in human realm. Belos gone."
Hunter gently pet the bird on the head, trying to calm his shaking and fast breathe. He ran a hand through his shorter hair, glancing out the window at the night sky. Then he carefully pressed his forehead against the cardinals own fluffy head.
"Thank you..."

June of Doom day 4: Does that hurt? (Impalement) (tw blood and injury)

Hunter was only about eight years old when he started training with the other scouts. Emperors coven scouts were required to be at least thirteen before being allowed to train in the coven, but Hunter had always been an exception. "It's the Titan's will" Belos always said. He was simply destined for great things, and needed a bit of a headstart on his training.
Surprisingly the young boy managed to keep his own bearings in training. He didn't want to let his uncle down, he wanted to be the best Golden Guard ever! No, the best future ruler the Boiling Isles had ever seen!
While the kid had a bit of an ego and an attitude, the other kids were more concerned than annoyed most the times. It was clear his little body, no matter how he tried, struggled to keep up. And today was just a perfect example of this.
Today the scouts-in-training were sent off into the broken forest to collect some of the lost palisman from inside. It was sort a trial, to see if they could move up to more serious training. The group was filled with tension on the way there, fear of the rumored "bat queen" who supposedly resided in there.
And they only had two trained scouts with them, to intervene if needed. In quite the contrast, Hunter was excited for this mission. A chance to help out his uncle and prove himself! The young eight year old tapped his foot on the airship impatiently until it landed with a soft thud.
The group of trainees got out. Each one was supposed to collect one palisman each in order to move up to the next level of training. Easy! Hunter was the great child prodigy, Belos's nephew! He could do this.
They all spread out through the forest. Much to the little boy's annoyance one of the two trained coven scouts followed after him. He recognized the scout as one of the more recent ones to graduate to being a full scout. What was his name again? Ah, yes, Steve, that was his name.
"You don't have to follow me, I got this!" He squeeked with annoyance at the older coven scout, who simply shook his head. "It's just a precaution" he said slowly as if to help Hunter understand that. He wasn't that stupid!
Hunter caught sight of movement in the corner of his eye, so he carefully slipped away while Steve wasn't watching and slid into the overgrown parts of the forest. This area was much harder to navigate, having to climb over vines and be sure no loose branches caught onto his cloak.
He saw it again, something moving around. Hunter ducked low to hide a bit, staying still so he could locate the creature. A blue chameleon... oh! An interlock on one of its feet, a palisman! Excitement surged through the eight year old. He braced himself before diving forward and grabbing the palisman, the squeeked in protest.
"Gotcha!" Hunter sneered. Then he heard the sound of many branches snapping, and a loud thud behind him. His ears folded back nervously and he slowly turned around. He was met with the sight of a giant bat creature, at least ten foot tall, staring at him with glowing eyes and a snarl across its face.
His blood ran cold at the sight. The bat queen, t-this was the Bat Queen! Hunter held onto the palisman a bit tighter, but then the Bat Queen lunged forward, sharp claws outstretched to attack. Hunter couldn't help but scream in terror, dropping the palisman and turning on his heel and sprinting as fast as his little legs could carry him as adrenaline surged through his veins.
He could hear limbs snapping behind him, the Bat Queen hurtling after him. Hunter ran as fast as he could, branches tearing through his cloak. And suddenly he was hurtling down a hill. Hunter had ran right off the edge of a very slick slope and had tripped. The Bat Queen stopped her pursue, and left.
He tumbled down the slope, unable to stop as his body was thrown down the hill. He couldn't help but let out another scream as a particularly sharp branch stabbed right through his arm, ubruptly jerking him to a stop. Panicked surged through him as he saw the branch had gone right through his arm, coated in his blood. If he had been a bit to the right that would've gone through his chest.
By now he was screaming for help, his superior attitude gone and replaced with a child in pain and needing help. His breathing was really fast and he could feel his own blood seeping out from the wound. He had to do something, he couldn't just sit here and bleed out! He bit down hard on his tongue and tried to pull his arm out from the jagged branch.
A choked sob escaped him when the branch wouldn't come out, caught like a fish on a hook. This only made him bleeding more. Titan was he going to die here!? He frantically tried to pull away from the branch, panicking bad and crying.
"Stop moving!" A voice said firmly, concern rooted in each word. He felt a hand on his shoulder. "Stay still, please" Steve said. Hunter's mask was just gone, lost in his tumble down the mountain. Steve's mask was pulled up a bit so Hunter could see the worry on his face.
Hunter obediently stopped moving, softly crying. Steve gently grabbed his arm that was stuck through the tree and pulled it back a bit to get it unstuck from the barb-like offshoot on it before pulling his arm off from the branch. Blood flooded out, a bloody hole in his arm.
Steve held the kid still, grabbing bandages from inside his cloaks pocket and wrapping it around the wound in a weak attempt to stop the bleeding. Blood seeped through the bandages, but it seemed to be slowing down now. "Does that hurt?" Steve asked, tilting Hunter's chin up gently to look at him. The boy looked so small... scared...
Hunter nodded slightly. Steve had to wrap the bandage pretty tight in order to stop the bleeding, so he assumed it may hurt a bit. Nothing in comparison to the literal hole in his arm, but the bandage should suffice until they could get him back.
Steve than carefully picked Hunter up. The child didn't protest like normal, just clinging to the guard's cloak and burying his face in his chest. "You'll be fine... let's just get you back to the palace." Steve said with surprising softness, starting the trek back out from the woods. It only set in a bit later that Hunter had failed his mission... it wouldn't happen again...
