There Has Been Something Annoying Me About The MCU For A While, But I Never Knew What Exactly What It

There has been something annoying me about the MCU for a while, but I never knew what exactly what it was. Now, I’m a big fan of the MCU, and honestly, their strengths outweighs their flaws—and they DO have flaws. But I think what’s been bugging me is how they dealt with Black Widow aka Natasha Romanoff.

People tend to forget how skilled Natasha really is. She was trained since she practically a toddler to become a trained killer. She learned everything from manipulation to how to kill you in 99 ways with just using her hands. And instead of utlizing that type of strength in the MCU, she was mostly tossed aside for either becoming a meaningless love interest (*cough cough* brutasha *cough*) or being sexualized. And you know WHY this happened.

It’s because she didn’t get her own damn movie till after she fucking died.

If there was a black widow movie either in Phase 1 or early Phase 2, things would have been different because her strength would’ve been established and along with her core character. Like it bothers me to my core that people always joke about how Nat should’ve been already dead because she’s only fighting with a gun and she’s falling from buildings without a scratch. Yk, MAYBE if she had a movie explaining that she was injected with a different version of the super soldier serum than nobody would’ve had to joke or question about that. MAYBE if the MCU had more than one braincell when it came to Natasha Romanoff, then her movie—that should’ve been a sequel—WOULD’VE BEEN BETTER.

I’m sorry, this isn’t an educated essay, this is a rant from someone who hasn’t ate a decent meal in the last 42 hours, so take what I say with a grain of salt, or run with it, I don’t care. But I do know one thing that they did my girl Nat wrong, and her character had SO MUCH potential.

LIKE THE RED ROOM???? THAT WHOLE AESTHETIC AND CONCEPT?? THAT’S GOLD. THEY WERE SITTING ON GOLD.

“The whole point is to show how war is,” “it’s to show that you can’t pick or choose who dies in a war,” “that’s how war is,” I DON’T CARE OKAY, I DON’T CARE. I want my favorite characters to live and have a happy ending. And It’s a book and it’s written by an author so they DO choose who dies, and they choose everyone’s favorite for the emotional value.

HONESTLY, I read King of Scars because of Nikolai, he was the only character I love in the Grishaverse. He was willing to do whatever it took to save his country, I think he even mentions that he slowly planned to ease Ravka into a democracy. But than he gets sidelined in his own duology without anything more added to his character than we already know. Like she had the perfect character, someone really unique and she turns into kind of a comic relief and the same thing happens in the books. One he cut of someone’s fingers to gain captaincy so we know he’s he’s willing to do the wrong thing for the right reason but he has a line he won’t cross like the Darkling, he’s a privateer, he served in the army so he knows what it’s like, he’s an inventor, he combined both the second and the first army. He has the experience, the knowledge and intelligence to lead his country to great success and prosperity and into a golden age. She had a really complex character with a lot of potential and honestly I mourn it. He’s love for his country is what made me fall him love him and the show does this.

They honestly murdered Nikolai’s character. This character is being the only monarch who cares about his country and his people. The whole reason he created Sturmhond, the whole reason he’s a privateer, the whole reason he works for the Darkling and kidnappings Alina. This entire character is based on his love for his country and him doing anything he can to make it better for his people. It’s the whole reason I fell in love with his character. And now you’re telling me that he has to be convinced to save Ravka?! It was Alina in the books who need to be convinced to save the country. Don’t ruin his entire character just to make Alina look better. No matter what you do you won’t make me like her and now they made me hate the only protagonist I liked. Fuck you.

He was the perfect balance between Alina and the Darkling. And the only hero I liked. He should be the one ruling Ravka not Zoya, it was the perfect man for it, I can’t believe LB threw away his life goal, the everything he worked for away just to have Zoya “can’t control her anger” Nazyalensky on the throne, it’s fucking ridiculous. Like Nikolai had a whole plan for democracy. 

Jacks better pay for what he did to Evangeline at the end of OUABH🔪🔪🔪
