"I...remember..." You say holding your hand to your head. Your head it's pounding and your side is burning, you can barely string together sentences.

When you finally come to you're in a room you instantly recognize. It's one of the rooms used for recovering patients. You try to lean up to further search your surroundings but an excruciating pain in your side stops you.

"Ah fuck, what the hell!" You yell out in pain, a figure huddled over in the corner of the room quickly sits up and rushes to your side.

"[Y/N] are you okay?!" It was Connie Springer. The two of you have known each other for a long time, training together for five years and then becoming scouts together.

The memories from the day before all come rushing back to you in a haze. The panic you felt only a day ago shoots right back through you and you sit up, ignoring the pain blood curdling pain.

"Are you okay?!" You practically yell, searching his entire body for injuries. Grabbing his arms to investigate. He turns red at your worry but makes no move to take his arm away from your gentle hold.

For the next few days you don't do much. Well more like you can't do much. You spend your days sleeping and eating, trying to get your body to heal as fast as possible.

Soon enough you're healed enough to stand up. Standing up turns to working out, and working out turns into training with ODM gear. Before you know it you're ready to go on missions again.

You wake up to a message pinned outside the dorms from Captain Levi. "All Scouts meet at the conference hall at 14:00 for information on the next expedition." You sigh at the thought but get ready regardless.

You show up slightly early and find a table with familiar faces. When Jean and Sasha see you they immediately stand up and run towards you. Trapping you in a tight hug.

"We're so happy you're okay [Y/N]!" Sasha says with tears in her eyes.

"Yeah you really scared us this time you idiot." Jean says and you swear you see a light gloss over his eyes.

"I haven't gotten a hot boyfriend yet, there's no way I'll let myself die single." You say with a laugh, the others join in and you all sit back down. Sharing light conversation before the others arrive and Captain Levi begins.

He explains how on the next expedition only a few soldiers will attend. Only the best of the best hand picked by Levi himself, because of the smaller numbers the mission will be even riskier.

"Very well then, that will be all, more information will be given tomorrow morning, see you then." He says before leaving the conference hall.

Everyone stays silent, making sure the captain has truly left before everyone continues their previous conversations. You slowly turn to Connie, horrified.

"What the hell was that? That was so embarrassing! Do you think I'm weak or something?" You ask staring at him in disbelief.

You watch as he turns bright red, stuttering and trying to put words together. When he fails to do so he clumsily stands up, tripping on his chair before running out of the room.

"What just happened?" You ask more to yourself than to anyone else, but of course Jean includes his two cents.

"He's just worried, we all are. After that stunt you pulled we're all a little on edge, it was scary almost losing you like that. Connie seems to be taking it hard." Jean says and Sasha nods.

"I'm sorry guys. I didn't mean to worry any of you. My body it just moved on its own, you know?" You say, sheepishly scratching the back of your neck.

"Well it doesn't matter now! All that matters is that you're here and you're alive!" Sasha says with a comforting smile and a tight squeeze. You and Jean just nod before the three of you go your separate ways, heading back to your dorms.

The sun had set and you were sitting on your bed reading with only a small flame to light up the faded pages. You hear a soft knock against your door that snaps you out of the fictional world you were reading about.

Slowly you slide out of your covers, making sure you place a book mark in your book. You walk over and open your door to see a nervous looking  Connie pacing in front of your door.

"Connie? Isn't it a bit late? Did something happen?" You ask snapping him out of his daze. His face immediately shoots up, staring into your eyes with determination.

"Sorry for showing up so late, do you mind if I come inside?" He says with his nervousness returning.

"Yeah sure." You say before opening your door wider, inviting him inside. He walks in and you close the door behind him, making your way to your bed and sitting down as he awkwardly begins to pace back and forth.

"So I was wondering if on tomorrow's expedition, if you really do insist on going, if it would be okay if I stayed by your side." He says, avoiding eye contact with you.

"Well Connie you know Captain Levi is going to break us up based on skill, especially since there are less of us. So it really isn't up to me." You say watching him carefully.

"I just...please just if he tries to separate us please help me to convince him." Connie says in a quieter tone.

"Where's this even coming from? We should just trust Captain Levi." You say in a soft tone, trying to ease Connie's very apparent nerves.

"No [Y/N] you-you don't understand." He practically whispers. You stare at him confused before slowly standing up, reaching for his hand and holding it gently.

"Then explain to me, make me understand." You say while trying to meet his eyes. He finally makes eye contact with you, a bright blush on his face.

"[Y/N] after...after what happened I realized something. I realized that if you go I wanna go with you, no matter where I wanna be there too. If-If...If you die I want to die with you." His words shock you and you just stare at him unsure of what to say.

"Connie don't say stuff like that. Neither of us are gonna die anytime soon, and if I die the last thing I'd want is for you to die along side me!" You say slowly pulling him in for a hug. He wraps his arms around your waist, holding onto you like it's the last time the two of you will be together.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm so sorry." He mumbles into your shoulder. You feel his tears soak into your shirt, cold against your warm skin. Gently you rub his back, squeezing him.

"Don't apologize it wasn't your fault. I would do it again in a heartbeat." You whisper to him, he just holds you tighter.

Eventually his tears slow and he gently pulls away. Staring into your eyes with his tear stained ones. Without thinking your hand slowly comes up and wipes the tears from his face. Gently he reaches up, holding onto your wrist, keeping your hands on his face.

"[Y/N] I love you." He whispers before slowly leaning in, capturing your lips in his. When the two of you pull away you realize that tears had started falling from your eyes as well.

Obsessed with the idea that people forget you have Captain Levi’s heart until they see him do little things for you. Like at breakfast, before his morning meeting with Erwin, he’ll pass by your table and casually hand you a loaded plate. “They didn’t have those croissants you usually like but I found those weird ass pastries you can’t stop talking about.” And then he’ll just walk away without saying anything else. Or like, while you’re all suiting up for a mission, he’ll randomly walk up to you and adjust the thigh straps of your odm gear to make sure they’re properly secured and you’re just like “!!!” inside. Or like for every group meeting he arrives early and saves you the seat next to him and when you arrive, he’ll pull out your chair, waiting till you sit so he can briefly place his hand on your thigh as a greeting 🥰🥰🥰🥰
