i think MOST of the fandom is mature enough not to complain about hair now, but i also know the production team is probably scared shitless of us and haunted by brunette annabeth. so we’ll get dark hair percy y’all

85 + 98 for vds!! <3

thank you for asking!

85. smiling in-between kisses

98. “let’s just kiss to see what it’s like” then pulling away, lingering for a moment, then going in for the second kiss

“Just kiss me, then,” Lucas said jokingly.

Jens leaned back with a scoff. Then he blinked. “That’s not a bad idea, actually.”

Lucas paused in the sketch he was doing to look up at him, hands freezing in place. “I was joking.”

“Yeah, but,” Jens waved a hand, vaguely, then at Lucas, then at himself. “It kinda makes sense, right?”

“In what universe?”

“This one, obviously. All of them, probably.”

Lucas stared at him for another moment and then snorted, shaking his head. “Yeah, right.”

“You wouldn’t have said anything at all if it didn’t genuinely cross your mind,” Jens pointed out, which was entirely unfair and a line of thought that Lucas did not particularly want to follow. The thought of kissing Jens—or having Jens kiss him—had clearly crossed his mind. But Jens did not have to—should not—know that. In this universe or any other. Because Jens was just his friend, and it didn’t matter that he’d recently come out, or that he was talking to Lucas about kissing boys, because that did mean Jens would ever actually want to kiss him.

“Jens, I’ve literally just said it was only a joke. It wouldn’t be a good idea.”

“What? Why not?” When Lucas didn’t answer, Jens sighed, and then Lucas heard the creak of Jens’s desk chair before the bed was dipping next to him. “I just wanna kiss a guy so I know what it’s like, and like you just pointed, you’re a guy, and right here.”

“That doesn’t mean you should kiss me.”

He looked over at Jens after a moment of silence to discover Jens wasn’t looking at him, but out into the room with a small frown. Lucas shuffled, feeling discomfort rise and wondering how to break the silence and change the subject, only for Jens to snap his gaze around at the movement. He pursed his lips and looked away from Lucas, nodding as he shifted to the edge of the bed. “No, okay, sorry. You don’t want to kiss me, that’s fine.”

Lucas blinked. An argument struggled and stuck in his throat, the knowledge that Lucas in fact wanted little more than to kiss Jens begging to set itself free while still fearing it immensely. Jens was so wrong, but he also sounded so
upset.

“Are you
?” Lucas started to ask, then quickly changed his mind. It was dangerous, to start down that line of questioning, where misunderstandings could so easily arise. “You know it’s really not any different to kissing girls. You don’t need, like, different practice, or anything.”

“I guess,” Jens mumbled, and yes, Lucas realised, he was definitely upset. “It’s more about
the thought of it, you know? Theoretically I know kissing a guy would be the same, but I haven’t experienced it, so there’s still the thing of
not knowing.”

Lucas considered him. “It makes you nervous,” he concluded.

Jens shrugged and spun slowly, having resettled in his desk chair.

“It shouldn’t,” Lucas said lightly. “I’m pretty sure anyone kissing you is going to be the nervous one. You have very little to worry about.”

Jens grinned, for a second. Then he was back to sulking. “Doesn’t mean I wouldn’t worry, though.”

Lucas sighed. He hated himself. He was going to hate himself a lot more in a moment. “Fine.”

“Doesn’t feel fine, but okay, message recei—“

“No,” Lucas said. “I mean fine. If you want to kiss a guy so you know what it’s like and don’t have to worry, you can kiss me.”

Jens’s head snapped up, a smile already forming. “Really?”

Lucas sunk back into the pillows and swallowed, but nodded. “Like you said, I’m right here, so.”

“Okay. Are you sure? You know you don’t actually have to, I wasn’t trying to guilt you and it’s not just because you’re the only other—“

“I know,” Lucas cut him off. Considering Jens had already bounded to his feet, Lucas was fairly sure he was no longer expecting a rejection, anyway. “I suggested it in the first place, right?”

Jens dropped onto the bed next to him, leaning on an elbow and stretching out his long legs. “Right. So, uh. How do we do this?”

“The mechanics really aren’t any different,” Lucas said dryly.

“Okay, but, I mean, so we just kiss, or—“

“You’re the one who wants practice, I’m not doing all the work for you, Jens, it’s—“

Lucas cut off as Jens suddenly cupped his cheek, the words dying on his tongue as his eyes widened in surprise. He barely had time to see the small smirk on Jens’s lips before Jens was leaning in and suddenly, they were kissing.

Now, Lucas had said he wasn’t going to do all the work, but he certainly wasn’t going to pass up the opportunity. He knew how to kiss, and this may be his only chance to let Jens in on that fact. Plus, no matter how much he did, he couldn’t have dreamed of saying he did all the work—Jens, as expected, also didn’t need to do much learning. Lucas was really only giving as good as he got.

And it was really good.

Oh no, he thought, as Jens’s lips gentled against his own and a thumb stroked softly over his jaw, oh fuck.

It went on much longer than Lucas felt it had any real need to, considering Jens had just wanted to try it out, but Lucas wasn’t going to be the one to diminish the experience for him. He only stopped when Jens did, pulling away to take panting breaths.

By the time he opened his eyes after a few steadying seconds, a smile had curled Jens’s lips. Lucas’s gaze fell and lingered there, as he belatedly realised that Jens hadn’t gone far at all, before he glanced up and met Jens’s eyes. Jens’s smile widened, and then he was kissing Lucas again.

“I don’t think,” Lucas gasped, an indeterminate amount of time later, “this can still be considered curiosity.”

“No,” Jens mused. “Probably not.”

“You’re smiling.”

“Yeah, I am.”

“You want to kiss me.”

“Definitely do.”

“Why didn’t you just say that?”

“Because you did it for me.” Jens kissed him another time. “I’m saying it now, aren’t I?” he murmured. “Is that enough?”

Lucas hummed, kissing him once more. “I guess it’ll do.”
