This has probably been pointed out by others already, but I feel like people miss out on the deeper meaning behind Cinder’s backstory. Cinder was one of the few characters CRWBY thought it was important enough for us to know her past (which is one of the biggest reasons I don’t think she’s just another villain waiting to die), and like I’ve said many times some liked it, some didn’t, and some were expecting more. However I think there’s one thing people miss out on because they thought it was another generic edgy Cinderella story.

And to me it’s that I believe Cinder is trying to find meaning from her suffering. Have you noticed that there was no talk of destiny throughout Cinder’s backstory? Destiny is constantly brought up when the maiden characters are involved. This means this whole thing of Cinder believing in destiny most likely was manufactured by Salem and put into Cinder’s mind. Cinder just wants her suffering to mean something, because as it stands it looks like she suffered for no other reason other than she exists. She wants to believe that everything she went through is leading to something grand and amazing that’ll make all her suffering worth it.

I know some people aren’t as invested in Cinder’s character as I and many others are, but I really find it disingenuous for people to write off Cinder as “wanting power for power’s sake”. I know some aren’t going to analyze Cinder to the same degree that I do, and that’s fine. Hell, I could be reading too deep into it for all I know. However, CRWBY has put a lot into Cinder as a character, and I feel like if they really just wanted to make a character that’s strictly power hungry who got in way over their head, then V5 was the best time to kill her off. But obviously she’s still here, I feel there’s more to Cinder’s character than the average RWBY critic gives her credit for.

The thing about Cinder’s character that I love is that we don’t know exactly where her character arc is going. It could be death, redemption, or maybe she seeks to be independent from Salem. The best part is she’s so unpredictable.

Endeavor Apologists are not writing off Endeavor's 'abuse' of his family. But they recognize that there is more to Endeavor's character, and his actions are a product of a society that puts affection on people with Quirks, and within that class of people, those with marketable quirks are favored over those who do not.

Endeavor's life and lifestyle revolved around this society which is focused on the idea of idolizing powerful quirks. What Endeavor believes is good for his family is shaped by the rather toxic environment of the BNHA society and the pro-hero industry. Having a strong quirk is what gets you ahead in life, so Endeavor ensures that his children who have quirks are trained to control these keys to success, which is what any parent would do for their child.

Despite Endeavor's good intentions, however, the results are destructive and self-destructive. That is something Endeavor only recognizes after his family is nearly torn apart. Now Endeavor is trying to fix the consequences of believing in a flawed system that ultimately brought more harm than good to what Endeavor ultimately cares the most about.

Endeavor apologists are not dismissing the abuse. But we recognize that Endeavor is a result of an abusive society. We also recognize that Endeavor is trying to change as a conscious rebellion against the pro-hero industry and society. Which is a heroic action all on its own.

Endeavor had a lasting impact on his family, but the fault was due to the environment he is a part of.

Recognizing that Endeavor is a product of a broken system and that he is working around it is something an Endeavor fan can respect.

That recognition of something wrong and working to change in some way does not erase Endeavor's actions, but it is something Endeavor Apologists choose to focus on MORE than the abusive behavior. Abusive behavior is an extension of the abusive nature of the Pro-Hero industry the characters in the story slavishly support.

To hate on Endeavor Apologists for focusing on MORE than ONE aspect of Endeavor's character is to miss the fact that the abuse reflects worse on the Pro-Hero industry and the world-building.

What I like about Ironwood's fighting style is how much control he has with his own person, and having no superpower to make him as strong as the other semblance users.

Something now about Ironwood vs Team ORNJ made me realize how he's much more stronger and capable of coordination, and how others' superpowers never detour him. They have their cheats of leveling up, but he relies heavily on what he has. He may as well be a regular human and he's still much better than superhumans.

I enjoy how he uses his strength only for some moments. James is strong enough to grab a Grim arm and stop them. Strong enough to stop a Mammoth summon. And yet he still uses all that strength sparingly, rather wanting to utilize his brain and guns to perform strategic takedowns.

Too bad nobody else in the show is as unique as James. Truly king for having less than others and yet powerful in his own way.
