Its-been-rose - Up Gallows Creek Without A Paddle

Those sketches I did of marie and baby Henry a couple days ago are just really making me think about that time in their lives, like, the end of Marie’s pregnancy to Henry’s toddler years.

It would be so sad if like if Marie started having a depressive spiral and began to cry the vibrations would wake Henry up and he’d kick her and move around and distract her from thinking about George and Peggy and her home she left. Or after he’s born and like at first if she started to cry with him, his reaction would be to cry with her, until he got old enough where he kinda realized it was futile to cry and so he just stared at her

I wanna do art for my Poltergeist George AU (alrernative title: The Ghost of Gallows Creek) and like, I have the opportunity to make George look TERRIFYING. His autopsy said that when he died, he hit his head on rocks underwater.

Now, I don’t know if you know about head wounds, but they bleed. A LOT. So, theoretically, if I ever needed to draw him for, say, a potential faux film cover 👀, if i REALLY wanted to, I would literally draw him with blood pouring down his face and shirt. However, his cause of death wasn’t bleeding out, it was drowning. He was left in a river for 5 hours. That ALSO means I could go a Jason route where his skin is blue and his lips are purple and he always looks soaking wet.

Though most likely his ghost looks just how he did before he died, just a happy lil fella. A happy lil fella who happens to be VERY ANGRY at the entire town for covering up his death and spreading rumors he was a terrible person to convince people to forget about him.

I also imagine in this au that he’s only a poltergeist on the night he died, maybe even only from 11pm (time of death) until 4am (time his body was found). But definitely not the whole year. The rest of the time he just wanders around the woods, maybe checks in on Peggy, and walks around the high school. Maybe he even tries to go to class, just to feel normal again.

But when that sun sets on September 2nd, he gets to lash out against those that wronged him.

Some people are smart and leave GC on that night. Some people believe the bad things that happen to them are a coincidence. Some people are totally chill with a ghost haunting the town and won’t deny it, since they’ve seen his antics before but he hasn’t done anything outright dangerous. He mostly just throws things around, makes scary noises, makes the lights flicker and opens and shuts drawers and things. Sometimes he’ll possess an object (what a poltergeist generally does) and fuck around with people more personally, but again he’s not murderous, he’s just very upset.

GAHAHAHAHhahahhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa every time i try to close my eyes and go to sleep i keep thinking about the poltergeist au /ghost au

Okay like imagine Ghosf George is finally reunited with his family again and he’s happy but then Peggy is like “oh wow gee look at the time it’s sure getting late, don’t you think George? Don’t you just wanna head to bed? You’ve had such a long night. Let’s all get to the cemetery and you can cozy up and take a nice long nap” (trying to get him to be at rest so he never returns to the land of the living again)

And they all go but when they get there George, through usage of the radio/other ghost-detecting technologies, makes it clear that he doesn’t want to go to sleep because he wants to be with his family. Marie knows that he’s dead, and is never going to be able to be alive again, and that he needs to be put to rest, so she’s like “would you agree to at least try to go to sleep if I laid down next to you?” And he agrees and so she literally lays down next to his grave.

After like a few minutes she’s like “George?” And he again makes his presence known through the radio and she’s like “you need to go to sleep. You know that.”

And he’s like “can’t… could you… tell… me… a…. story?” Obviously through whatever means he has of communicating. And she’s like “okay, but you have to promise to go to sleep after I tell it.”

And so she starts on a story…

“Once upon a time, there was a small town. And in that small town lived a boy and a girl. From the moment they met, it was love at first sight, and they knew they wanted to be together forever. They were so happy together, they didn’t realize that they were making… some reckless decisions sometimes. But maybe that’s a good thing, because a short time later the pair were blessed with a beautiful baby boy. They loved this boy with all their hearts. The mother would sing to him, cuddle him, and bake special treats for him. The father would dance with him and teach him about the world and play sports in the backyard with him. They didn’t have much, but they were happy. Soon the boy grew up and went off to college to start his own life, leaving his parents so extremely proud of their son. The couple grew old together, with occasional visits from their son and his own family, and they lived happily ever after. The end.”

And after a bit she’s like “….George?” But there’s no ghost activity anymore and the radio isn’t picking anything up. So she gets up and walks off with Peggy and Henry to decompress for a bit before the sun rises and it’s a new day again.
