Another movie I saw recently that falls into my “cozy horror” genre. It’s a French horror film about a vegetarian veterinary student who discovers some hidden instincts within herself during a hazing process at her university. The imagery is no where near as colorful as in Suspiria, but it is given on a much more realistic level, hitting me with more anxiety than Suspiria did. Much of the early movie contain scenes with a certain kind of nature that I am very drawn to in storytelling: otherwise normal scenarios...but there’s just something a little bit off.
The poster design here is also very illustrative and cool, and I think it really does capture the nature of the film.

Art for Julia Ducournau’s “Raw” (”Grave” in French) by Matthew Therrien.

Old drawing of Frankenstein’s monster / Caliban / John Clare from Penny Dreadful

Some more hand drawn kinetic type inspo for my project.
Obviously will not be going this route but I couldn’t resist. This is one of the funniest shows ever, and I feel like this scene perfectly captures Charlie’s wacky fucking character. I do like the illustration, even if it does seem strangely children’s book-like for It’s Always Sunny.
Anyway. Something I’d like to keep in mind for future projects, maybe if I ever do short animations for some OCs. If that ever happens.

More ideas for my physical type project. I think the lighting here is really interesting, but I still want to shoot for a more natural light source. I like the shadows that are being created in the third pic. Gives the whole thing a sense of depth, which I think is something I’m missing from mine right now.
Might try to angle the text going into the diorama to get more of a sense of scale, and play with camera angles. Probably just need to implement some simple camera tricks to create effects within the same vein as this.
Some inspiration for kinetic type. I like how smoothly everything is animated. Probably won’t get to make it that smooth but some of the basic effects I’m going to look into recreating in the next couple of days. I like the ripple the S has going on, I might do that when I have all of the text up on screen .
I’m still looking for examples of bouncing text, but I’m obviously keeping my options open for what it ends up turning out as.

Figured it would be fun to animate this :)
