This made the humans start a mass hunt for the peaceful mers who once lived by the coral shallows before they had to flee into the depths were they instead ended up being killed by the sirens, who viewed the mers as competitors and nuisances to their territory.

Centuries later, the mers are hidden within small communities from both humans and sirens as they try go about their lives in peace.

However, a young and curious little mer named Yugi, wanted to venture out and explore beyond the safety borders.

Picking up shells of every color he had never seen before, oblivious to the danger he was in as he was being stalked before hearing a woosh of water surging towards him, turning around and dodging away just in time from the young inexperienced siren.

Yugi swiftly swam away with the siren following closely by.

This went on for hours with both of them somewhere throughout the chase, had been made it into game. As the siren finally managed to pounce Yugi to the seafloor, weighing him down as both of them stared into the eyes of the other, they both suddenly burst out laughing.

The young siren named Atem, became Yugi’s closest friend, in secret that is, and as they grew older their friendship evolved into a deep forbidden love that they had to keep secret from their own communities.

Being apart as time went on grew harder and harder for both of them.

But the consequences of their love, even if it meant exile and being hunted to the oceans end, was something both were prepared to face as their love only grew deeper.
