I agree, but I also have a theory regarding this!

I think Moriarty IS gonna be the principal who’s life, his IDENTITY, was ruined by Sherlock. Doesn’t matter to him if Sherlock was ‘right or wrong’ for what he did, his life was still ruined. Meanwhile imagine being him and hearing that the kid who ruined your life has a popular podcast about his excellent detective skills (same detective skills that made you lose everything)….

Either he changes his name due to the scandal ruining his reputation OR used a fake name so Sherlock wouldn’t recognize his name in the shoutouts OR Sherlock was just pretending not to recognize the name.

Either way, it is rather significant that Moriarty includes the Professor title in his shoutout considering most shoutouts only having people mentioning their first names.

For example: “Shoutout to Bob from-“ and that’s it. Most people wouldn’t think to include their full name, let alone a professional title alongside their name. I think it’s a ‘hidden-in-plain-sight’ hint for Sherlock, since the school they were at was full of professors and he would wanna put himself up to that regard (thinking he ‘deserves it’ after ‘all he’s been through’).

It wouldn’t be the end of the world if it wasn’t true, but this would be a missed opportunity!

This might be an unpopular opinion but that principal guy deserved what was coming for him and Sherlock should not feel an ounce of guilt for exposing him

Fellow Sherlock and Co fans, I have crazy theory based on what we learned from the latest episode (SPOILERS for Shoscombe Old Place Pt. 2!!)

So three things I loved about the episode:

1. John views Baker Street as home to him more than his actual hometown (just a sweet thing that made my heart gush🥰)

2. Sherlock went on a tangent about how all bodies of water meet their ends, whether it’s a sea, a lake, or a WATERFALL!

3. Professor James Moriarty was canonically mentioned in the show right after the waterfall reference!

BUT, the key thing I’m piecing together is that he is a professor as in someone who would work at a COLLEGE, and I remember that it was mentioned in Gloria Scott that Sherlock exposed a principal at his college for a huge scandal he committed; really important to know that this guy’s life was DESTROYED because of Sherlock’s detective skills.

This may be a huge stretch, but this is what my brain pieced together:

1. The principal’s life was ruined by (mostly himself, but in his mind he would blame) Sherlock. He literally cried in a fetal position in Sherlock’s dorm!

2. Sherlock stops his hand stimming when John mentions Professor James Moriarty in the shoutouts yet says nothing.

3. Why would a random Professor James Moriarty want to mention his full name in the shoutouts, including his job title, and that he’s “listening intently to every word”? Why not just say ‘James’ like every other shoutout name and say that he loves the podcast?

So my crazy theory is this: Professor James Moriarty is actually the PRINCIPAL that Sherlock ruined the life of! Either he’s lying about the professor title or he had to work up to be a professor after he got fired from the college and needed to work up some high title such as being a professor to fix his reputation; it works, considering it’s still in that familiar education field he worked up to. Either way, he’s been listening to the podcast and waited until now to let Sherlock know that he’s there…

What do y’all think? Is this truly crazy brain rot, or do you see the connections?

The Lion's Mane Pt. 3 (SPOILERS)

Maude joined Sherlock for rock pooling! 

Sherlock: “She’s rock pooling with me”, aw she certainly is buddy!

Same Mariana, I too would be pointing out all the sea creatures I see 

Maude: “Living in solitude with one another. Dumped in here by the big sea that left them behind”, John: “Uh…it can be difficult to share a flat with somebody” THE WATER-BASED ANALOGIES STRIKE ONCE AGAIN!!

It’s interesting how complex of a situation Maude has put herself in! Her family has secrets that she knows she needs to keep hidden, but she really just wants to figure out how her fiancé died 

The tooth! Sherlock found Harry’s missing tooth (completely normal thing to whip out in a pub Sherlock, SUPER normal)

Balsanna, or ‘death in the soul’ is a really cool phrase to describe the weight an indirect death can have on someone’s mind and soul; you may not have meant for them to die, but you still feel guilty for indirectly killing them

Sherlock: *referring to the listeners* “You are not a priority”, John: *to listeners* “Isn’t he lovely?”, yeah John like a rose with thorns; prickly but lovely

Sherlock’s still on about that submersible, and John is still full on nope-ing on that plan

Aw poor John, why doesn’t anyone wanna hold his hand??

Wow, the Bellamy’s big company secret is revealed! Using growth enhancement chemicals and claiming they’re organic is some shady shit indeed

Bringing in Balsanna is a perfect way to describe this whole situation: the Bellamy family company didn’t directly kill anyone, but their actions still resulted in those deaths

Neat callback to how John is still dealing with that Urea Nitrate fertilizer in his leg!

Sherlock got his submersible!! Poor Mariana is stressing so hard about that fee being paid. Hilarious that Sherlock was so disappointed about not being able to pilot it

The big moment I’ve been waiting for…the reveal…of the LION’S MANE JELLYFISH! Honestly, I think the they did the reveal justice. I felt like I was in the submersible seeing the beautiful scene as well! 

…wow, poor Fitzy. Good on you John for bringing him back home

Aww, now John and Mariana are having their own little moment on the train! And once again John makes fun of Mariana being a Harry Potter nerd (as he should)

Honestly this was a great case! We had the whole gang working together, they got to travel to a small island in Scotland, and there were so many layers to the case that I was intrigued by! I think the podcast itself is getting a lot better about immersive story telling. I’m not gonna say it’s the BEST case (as I imagine there are many more to come) but it was interesting all the way through. I can't wait so hear what they’ll do next…

I knew I KNEW Archie was gonna be “in trouble” for this episode based on the patreon newsletter!! Honestly good on John for having a whole Sherlock-esque deduction monologue about Archie being guilty (unfortunately he’s rather wrong later on)

Oooh so that’s how they end up at Oxford! Because Sherlock was asked to be a speaker! Good for him

I so get the huge difference between speaking publicly because you have to vs getting really into talking about your special interest. Same Sherlock, I getcha.

‘Autistic man turns down offer to speak to room full of people’ ngl this is a MOOD (as an autistic woman myself!)

LESTRADE MENTION!! John is so right in saying Lestrade would be putting in a lot of work to let people like Sherlock (consulting detective - not a CERTIFIED one), himself (doctor from Swindon), and Mariana (accountant from Sociedad) legally take on serious criminal cases so it’s only fair Sherlock returns the favor for that. 

Sherlock, you framed the DOG for your crimes! You’re a good consulting detective but an unhinged criminal

John you’re SO SALTY over Spain’s victory in the Euros, YOU get over it!

I'll say this: I love how this podcast takes the classic acd cases and reinvents them to make them make more sense in the modern day setting! The irony of a mysterious crime being committed for a Criminology controlled assessment is perfect, and honestly a step up from the original being about a Greek exam.

Sherlock: “I will take on the case, you have my word that-“ Soames: “What about the speech?” Sherlock: “…I forgot about that”, Sherlock why do you do this to yourself?

And that’s all for part one! I REALLY really like when the podcast reinvents classic cases to have it make more sense in regard to the realistic modern day circumstances like why they’re ACTUALLY there and what case coincidentally comes up for them to solve! Also guys…I’m kinda getting worried for John. Dude hasn’t been sleeping well in the last episodes and now the alcohol is becoming more frequent for him. Am I the only one on this??

I am loving Potion Permit on the switch! I got it as a Christmas gift this year and I’ve been playing it since! Such a cozy game that involves foraging for materials to make potions, fighting foes in the woods, and making friends in the small town your character lives in.

I loved this too!

I mentioned in my lions mane pt. 1 notes that this was a cute detail because it opens up so many possibilities for the podcast! Not saying I’m sick of John being our main podcast host (far from it), but I love the idea of more than one person handling the mic!

The Lion's Mane has been so good so far. I love the interactions between the main trio and cannot wait to see fannart and shit. I mean part one is like perfect for animations and shit its full of great clips lol I love the part where Mariana takes the microphone when Watson is sleeping. It is cool to see her take the focus for a bit. She stutters a bit more because she isn't as used to being a narrator and I think that is a nice addition.
