The trend of queer people (especially young ones) glorifying relationships in media where there is consistent abuse shown and the abuser never shows any remorse for their actions is kinda scary to me. Like no y’all, emotionally and physically abusing someone for literal years and then saying sorry one time is not the foundation for a good relationship and you should not be defending it.

Like if you ship something unhealthy/somewhat “problematic” and can admit that it’s bad, that’s your thing I don’t really care, I’m not assuming you can’t differentiate fiction and reality or anything. My problem arises when you see people criticizing that ship for being abusive and unhealthy and go “actually it’s fine because” when that’s not true. You don’t get to ignore the reality of the relationship in canon. If you want to say “I work off my own version of canon where those things happened differently” go for it. But when you try to paint abuse dynamics in canon as healthy and a single verbal apology or minority changed behavior as “redemption” it shows you aren’t separating reality and fiction, you’re saying that you genuinely either don’t know what abuse looks like or think that abusive dynamics are fine. And that’s worrying.

ochako is such a good character once you block out the noise from the waifu loving dudebros and people who hate her bc of ships

I agree there’s areas where her writing could be improved, but once you step back and look at her character without interference from fandom spaces you can appreciate her so much more

she’s so kind and sweet, a girl next door type who has to grapple with tragedy when all she wanted was to be a rescue hero

if Izuku is the hero who saves people with a smile then ochako is the hero who makes people feel safe

anyways this is just me reminding everyone I love ochako and recently I’ve appreciated her even more by ignoring biased takes ..much love to ochako, the bubbly hero who fights tooth and nail to protect those she loves
