The medic's suggestion worked rather well, as the boy was currently seated on Geshu Lin's lap (it took much convincing for the general to allow this) while the medics ran a few health check-ups.

Though, he often looked at Geshu Lin with some anxiety. (Poor thing was terrified of almost everything, he almost ran off again at the sight of a stethoscope)

"Vitals are stable... minor sunburn, that's expected.."

"Hm... eyesight is alright, albeit a bit poor.. most likely from his Nystagmus.." The senior medic noted, checking the boy's eyes with a light.

Noticing Geshu Lin raising his brow at that, the medic clears his throat before answering, "Nystagmus is a condition of rapid involuntary eye movement, it can reduce or limit one's vision. A common occurence in albino people."

White hair, pale skin, purple eyes... this child must be one of a kind then.

The boy squirms around in Geshu Lin's lap, clearly uncomfortable, but immediately quiets down when the medic hands him a sugar pearl, popping the sweet candy into his mouth eagerly.

"General..." The medic stares at the child perplexed. "About those lumps on his back, they match the criteria to be malignant. But upon closer inspection, they're hard like they are made of bones, and the base of the lumps are covered in small feathers."

...Does that mean this boy is some bird-human amalgamation?

"He isn't a resonator either, I've found no signs of a tacet mark anywhere. Should we refer him to Huaxu Academy for further examination?"

The boy just sits there quietly, blinking in confusion at the many new and fancy words being used.

A few soldiers found a boy today.

Normally, that shouldn't be too much of a big deal, orphaned children weren't uncommon in war zones. They normally got treated before being sent to Jinzhou, where they were registered into an orphanage.

But this one?

He was frail, small and timid. But oddly agile. Because as soon as one of the medics took him to the infirmary to get a check-up, the medical equipment plus the overwhelming environment scared him and caused the boy to run off.

It was a wild goose chase, no one seemed to be able to catch the boy or convince him that there was nothing to be scared about. Not even Jiyan himself succeeded.

But when Geshu Lin got involved, the boy, who was currently hiding behind a small crevice that no else could get in, shuffled out rather quickly.

He eyes the tall man before him curiously, before holding out his hand and saying:

"Daddy...?"

Geshu Lin had been walking while reading some reports on military shipments from Jinzhou when a small voice caused him to pause, raising a brow as he looked past the reports to see a tiny and rather frail child staring up at him with large, innocent eyes and holding out a minuscule hand.

He stared back quite intensely, the word ‘daddy’ ringing in his head before he frowned. “….I am not your father. What on earth are you doing here?” He asked critically, his attention completely diverted from the reports.

Apparently the soldiers had failed to inform him that they had found a random child.

They have father-son bonding times, kaneshiro told me so.

What they don’t tell you about being noa’s protege is the random and unskippable makeup tutorials

"Hm... I can't say for certain General." The medic scratches his head, "The infirmary is for patching up the wounded and small surgeries, not a cancer treatment centre. We'll need to send him in to the academy for a proper scanning since."

The boy's eyes widen in alarm, he grips onto Geshu Lin's shirt, clinging on tight.

"Does... does that mean I have to leave daddy...?" He asks, eyes glossing over with tears. "I don't wanna go... not when I've finally found him..."

"Oh dear, please don't cry..." The medic consoles, but then pauses at the next sentence. "Wait.. 'found'?" He repeats with a puzzled tone.

"Yeah..." The boy sniffles, staring up at Geshu Lin. "I remember you have that scary look in your eyes, somehow. Which is funny because my head has been blank ever since I woke up from that funny pod-thing."

"Head blank? Funny pod-thing?" The medic just grows more baffled by the minute, before finally leaving the room.

"Please pardon me General, I need a moment. And I need to contact Huaxu Academy. Goodbye." The door closes right afterwards.

I think my only real issue with Drolta's design from Castlevania Nocturn are her shoes.

I just don't understand them.

Everything else is magnificent, especially her hair and eyes. The color palette is immaculate.

But girl what are those shoes?
