I walk around like everything’s fine but deep down, inside my shoe, my sock is sliding off.

Sky has lived on Guild Street her whole life, along with the rest of her family. Her full name is Skylar, though only her parents use it. Her parents are the only ones who are allowed to, or at least, they are the only ones Sky is too scared to tell off for it.
The atmosphere on Guild Street has a stiff, oppressive quality to it. Sky lives in a wealthy area, full of rich families who hold very strict values. Kids are expected to go into a select few careers: law, the medical field, politics, and business. Anyone who doesn’t get into an ivy league school or high ranking college is considered a disappointment. Things like piercings, tattoos, dyed hair, and fashion styles such as tatters, crop tops, and see-through fabrics like mesh and fishnet are frowned upon. Ladies are expected to be quiet and respectful and gentlemen are to be strong and cold, never emotional. A grade average of anything under an A is seen as failure. And don’t even think of being anything other than cis and straight, you’ll be kicked to the streets before you can say “Jesus.”
Sky hates it more than words can describe. She feels as if she embodies the opposite of everything her family expects of her. Sky’s whole life feels like one big lie.
Your point?
