Chapter 26

Vienna laid in bed under the covers, she haven’t left the room since she came back from the cemetery, which was three weeks ago. No one came to visits her since than either, she stayed up their not eating or showering for days.

She heard a soft knock before the door opens and close, she felt someone lay down on the other side of the bed.

“Vienna...?” Klaus says softly, he looked at the lump of body under the covers, “Do you want to talk about it?” He waited for her to say anything.

“It been two days, and your sisters are worried about you...” he rubbed his hand up and down her arm in comfort, “I’m worried about you.” He whispered, she moved so his hand would slide off of her arm. He sighed looking at the ceiling, “I know your hurting, but your sisters need you right now.” He sighed waiting for her response.

“Fine, there’s food down stairs if you want it.” Klaus got up, he stopped at the threshold looking back for a moment before leaving, as Vienna laid their staying at the wall.

Klaus walked down the stairs as Ric looked at him, “How is she?” Alaric asked worried, Klaus shrugged taking a sit on the sofa, “still breathing.” He said nonchalantly resting chin on his fish watching the fire crackle.

“Maybe I should go up their and talk to her.” Alaric looked up the stairs making Klaus rolled his eyes annoyed, ever since Vienna came back to the house Alaric made his soul mission to come by everyday to try to check up on her since Klaus wouldn’t allow anyone expect Bonnie and the girls to visit her, “.I think she had enough visitors for today, maybe any other time.” He smiled unapologetic, Alaric glared towards Klaus.

“Shouldn’t you be looking for the cure with you band of misfits?” Klaus says

“They can handle themselves,” he gave Klaus a sarcastic smile as he went to sit on the live seat far away from him, Klaus ’hmm’. They both sat there in silence, since everyone was either at school or out, Klaus and Alaric were the only ones to be there for Vienna.

Alaric scroll through his phone at dozen of messages from his boss and his students, he ran his hand through his hair exhaling. Klaus glanced at him trying to figure out what Vienna saw in the hunter.

“Do you need something?” Alaric snapped annoyed at the hybrid.

“Just trying to figure out, what she saw in you...” he said nonchalantly, he looked at him up and down disgusted, “I get what Vienna see in you, the good guy who saves the people of mystic falls countless of times, but Marcella...” he looked bit puzzled.

“She would have scared you off the moment she felt Vienna and you were getting too comfortable. “Alaric chuckled making Klaus glare at him.

“What’s so funny?”

“You...”

“If I was you hunter I choose my words careful..” Alaric rolled his eyes.

“Who knew the big bad hybrid was so jealous.” Alaric scoffed.

“I’m not jealous.” Klaus hissed.

Alaric put his hands up, “my bad, not jealous just....insecure.” Klaus got out of his seat and bare his fangs angrily, Alaric watched unfazed by Klaus out busted, “Watch yourself hunter, I may not be able to kill you but I can surely torture you.”

“I’m shaking in my shoe.” Alaric said nonchalantly, getting up and walking out of the living room. Klaus huffed watching him go into the kitchen, Klaus left his house to get some air.

Vienna rolled her eyes as she heard the door creak opened, “Klaus, I’m not in the mood.” She mumbled.

“How about for me than?” Alaric says walking into the room, Vienna sat up looking at him surprised, “Alaric,” he smiled moving closer to the bed sitting in Klaus old spot.

“Hey”

“Hey” he gave her a sad smile, “I heard what happened, I’m so sorry for your lost V.” Vienna bite the inside of her cheek as tears welled up, she gave him a tight smile, “thanks...” she messed with her friends, Alaric hesitated for a minute before putting his hand over hers.

A sob escaped her lips as she leans on Alaric’s chest, he held her tight as she cried into his chest. He rubbed rubbed her back as he squeeze her tight, “let all out.” He says as she cries harder, she pulled away slowly wiping her tears away.

“God I’m such a mess...” she sniffed taking hollow breath, “why does it hurt so much?” She glanced at Alaric.

“Why do bad things happened...” she couldn’t finish the sentence as she started to gasping for air , Alaric looked alarm at her, “Vienna!” He got up as she scrambled out of the bed, moving away from him. She clenched her chest as she lean against the wall, she shut her eyes as bad and horrible memory after memory swim around in her head.

She felt warm hands cup her cheeks, “Vienna, look at me.” She shook her head as more tears ran down her face, “Vienna! Look at me.” He said firmly, she slowly open her blurry eyes to meet his blue ones, “You remember emerald cove? That night we went away just the two of us. We got drunk and ended up on that beach, It was the first time i talked about Isobel...” He says, Vienna stared at him as he talked about the night he opened up to her about his past, “you told me that at some point in our lives we are gonna have to accept that some people can’t stay in them forever, but they can stay in ours heart if we will it.” As if a wave of relief rush over Vienna every bad memory from her life dissolve away.

“And for the first time in my life I actually believed that thanks to you.” He smiled as she wrapped herself around him hugging him tight, “thank you.” She whispered.

“Anytime” he says, Alaric watches her pull a away a bit, he smiled at her as she did the same. Sudden the creaked came from the door making them turn to face Klaus. He looked between happy and shocked to see Vienna out of bed but his eyes glanced at Alaric making his mood turn sour. In flash Klaus sped towards Alaric taking him a away somewhere, Vienna shouted Klaus name as she ran out the room. She heard glass shattering down stairs making her run to the living room, she saw Klaus have Alaric pin on the coffee table.

She sees Elijah and Rebekah watching the whole ordeal as Stefan tries to talk to Klaus. She quickly run over to try to pry him off of him but only to be pushed away, “Klaus! Stop it!” She tries again shouting at him to let go of him, he ignores her again. Panic, she’s sees Alaric losing conscience as she pick up a letter opener and stab Klaus in the back with it making him released Alaric.

As Klaus got off of him she moved quickly to help Alaric up with the help of Stefan and Damon, she looked back at Klaus as he finally took the knife out of his back, “You stabbed me in the back, literally...” he threw the knife aside as he step closer to them, “Don’t come any closer.” She put her hands up making him stop, he narrowed eyes at her.

“You hurt the man you love for that...” he says disgusted pointing to Alaric, “ did what we have meant anything to you.” Vienna glared at him.

“Of course it did-. “ she said angrily.

“Than prove to me that it still does, prove to me that you are mine for as long as we are breathing, for as long as I am able to remember?” Vienna felt her heart drop to her stomach as those words left his mouth, “Cat got your tongue?” Klaus raised his eyebrow as he watched her.

Vienna looked towards Rebekah and Elijah as they stood behind their brother, both looked glared at her.

“How?”

“The night you told us that Marcella’s died, we remember everything. I guess once she died the spell died with her.”Rebekah growled, Vienna jumped when she heard clapping as Luka walked out of the shadows, “You miss me, sister?” Luka says walking up to them, as more people walked out from their hiding space.

Vienna felt two hands grab her arms, she watched as Damon held Alaric back as Stefan holds her arms behind her back. She hissed as she looked towards her brother, “Not really no.”She rolled her eyes, “If you just gonna patronize, just kill me now. So I don’t have to hear you speak.” She glared at him.

“On the contrary sister, I’m not going to kill you. I have no need to but I already got my revenge this is your husband and his family luxury.” He smirked handing Klaus the same knife that killed Marcella.

“Where’s the cure?” Klaus question.

“That wasn’t part of the deal. Once my sister is dead you can get the cure for now it stays with me. “ Vienna glanced toward the two as they talk as her heart beat raced.

“So this is the end.” She said to herself as she let out a stutter breathe, she watched as Klaus walked away from her brother and stood in front of her with knife in hand, “Before I kill you. Why?” He glared at her, she glanced at him with tears peaked in her eyes.

“Did you ever question our love, Niklaus?-“

“You really are choosing the wrong time to pull the soulmate card.” Rebekah growled as she glared angrily at her, “I’m not pulling any cards, I know what I did. I’m just asking your brother did he really love me.” He glared at her not understanding what she meant.

“Have you even for a second had a small voice in the back of your mind telling you things that didn’t make sense. Ever felt like you wasn’t truly happy with me or felt something for someone else but it went away like that.” She snapped her fingers.

“What are you trying to say?” He huffed.

“Your feelings for me was never real, I compelled you to love me. Ever time you were becoming aware I would do again and again. Rebekah was the first to find out what I was doing back in the village.”

“She confronted me about it, I was scared that she tell you. So Marcella took over and compelled her to forget, I wanted stop but Marcella liked that you were waiting on us on hand and foot and deep down I liked that it too.” she said.

“Even after the Katerina, we continue to do it until one day. We went to a village and we met another witch and she told us about your true soulmate, we didn’t believe.“

“But soon enough we grew paranoid and we grew worried, so we did something terrible and it blew back on us. You did horrible things that made us scared, so we ran. “ he glared at her as he place the knife over her heart pressing into her flesh making her whimper in fear.

“All these years blaming me, making me out to be the villain. But you and sister were the real monster all of long...” Vienna gasped as he brought the knife into her chest, she falls out of into the floor. Rebekah and Elijah along with Alaric looks away as she bleeds on the floor.

Black blood splatter out of her mouth, Klaus knee over her as he leans towards her ear and whispered, “Say hi to Marcella in hell for me. ” kissing her temple before twisting the knife making her scream and pulling it out. Vienna watched weakly as he stood up and walked to Luka, losing a lot of blood.

Vienna started drifting in and out of consciousnesses, she felt someone place next her. She saw Rebekah above her holding her close to her body well talking to her brother as Alaric sat next to her holding her hand. Rebekah looked down, Vienna weakly wiped her tears causing Rebekah open her eyes.

“Thank you.” She mumbles, Rebekah cried as she watched Vienna laid still. Alaric bow his head as he place her hands on her body, he sobs as his hands linger on hers.

Vienna gasped as she woke up in a strange place, she looked around at the abandon room. She moved out the dusty old bed towards the door, she shutter when she opened the door. The cold air hit her body making her wrapped her arms around herself, she walked out the room down the hall.

She walked down stairs and went towards the door, she tried opening it. She suddenly heard a sound coming from the living, she stepped back from the door and headed towards the living room door. She put her hand on the handle of the door only for something to run into it making it rattle.

“Screw this!” She whispered stepping away and heading towards the door again. She heard the living room rattle again making her use her shoulder to try busting down the front door. The door to the living room bust open making Vienna scream, she looked towards the double door and saw nothing.

She leaned off the door and slowly made her way towards the kitchen, she stopped in her tracks. When she heard a growl behind her, she looked up to a mirror to see nothing. The growling started getting closer making Vienna make a run for the kitchen before she can reach the door, she was tackled down by that thing. She screamed in pain as it grabbed her an ankle and started pulling her back from the door.

She used her other foot to kick, it let she scramble up and tried to reached for the door. The beast jumped her and torn at her legs making her scream, the beast sunk it teeth into her leg dragging her further away from the door. Vienna turned around blood as the beast got off her, she was too weak from the blood lost to sit up. She look around trying to find the monster, sudden a heavy weight was on her chest making her groan. The invisible beast stood over her without a beat the beast ripped Vienna into pieces.

Vienna gasped as her hands went to her throat and she looked around seeing she was in the same room like before hand. She got up off the bed and she looked at the m light coming from the small window, she moved the bed and stood up to try to see anything but find nothing. Vienna sighed and went through the door again, she started going down the stairs again but making her way to the kitchens.

She looked around to find anything, every draw and cabinet was empty. She walked to the back door only for it to be locked as well, she slammed her fist against the door angry. She turned around to find another way back only to be met with the same beast, she ran around the island but it was too fast and it bounced on her.

Vienna gasped awake again and signed, “Goddamn it.” She got out of bed and went through the house, she stayed on the second floor and looked through room after room after room until she find anything to help escape this hellhole. She ended up in front of a door with a word scratched into it, she opened the door only to be flung back into the wall with an something plunge in her chest, “Got to be fucking kidding me.” She slump on to the floor dead.

Vienna doesn’t know how many times she woke up and died, she lost count after forty-two time of being killed by that beast downstairs. She tried staying in her room but that only ended with her dying of starvation and dehydration or from the mold in the room. After a well she just started walking around the house, she slowly feels herself descending into madness every second she’s in that house. At one point she thought she heard someone in the halls humming, but she just played as her mind messing with her.

Vienna walked down the hall running her fingers along the walls, she heard a bump coming from above her. She ignored it thinking it was in her head, until she heard it again. She walked up another flight of stairs leading to a door, she twist the handle surprised that it wasn’t lock. She duck down in case it was another trap set up behind it, she swing the door opened and find no trap. She slowly made her way into the room, she looked around finding it to be a library.

She looked around finding a black paperweight ball, she picked it up and observed it. She placed it on the shelf, she looked around more noticing fresh paintings and paper with scribble on them scattered all over the floor. Vienna stood in front of a full length mirror, she touched her face grimace at the bags under her eyes. In the corner of the mirror, she saw a figure coming close to her, she slowly grabs the thing closest thing to her and swung it at the figure knocking them to the floor.

“What the hell, V.” Vienna looked at the groaning female on the floor surprised, “How the hell you know my name.” She rest the book back up as the women gets up moving getting in better lighting, Vienna dropped her book in shock.

“Marcella...”

“In the flesh. “
